The Morning Briefing: Biden's Lunatic 'MAGA Republicans' Ranting Is Gonna BackfireStephen Kruiser

I would like to begin today by saying that I’m very proud to have always despised Joe Biden. When he was The Lightbringer’s veep and would do something weird, I remember a lot of my conservative friends laughing along with everyone else, finding the old guy to be quite amusing. I would chastise them, saying that nothing was amusing about having a lunatic one heartbeat away from the launch codes.

They’re all on the same page with me now that the lunatic has the launch codes.

As part of the Democrats’ unwitting effort to help Republicans win even bigger in November, Biden’s puppet masters decided to pump him full of extra Adderall (h/t VodkaPundit) and stick him in front of a microphone so he could tell 74 million people that he hates us.

Paula’s take:

Joe Biden harangued and threatened the nation for 20 minutes on national TV on Thursday in a speech that will be remembered for its vicious rhetoric and blood-red lighting.

In the highly partisan speech, Biden railed against MAGA America like there was no tomorrow—he used the words “MAGA Republicans” 11 times in the first 12 minutes. Some of the most-used words in the speech were: violence, darkness, threat, and politics. The most-used word was “democracy,” the Marxist-leaning crowd’s favorite term of derision for our republic.

But that’s all Joe Biden’s got right now. By nearly every metric, America is worse off than it was during the Trump years, so Biden can only resort to fearmongering and demagoguery.

Many people on both sides of the aisle believe that the recent “Tough Guy Joe” tour is designed to fire up the base and give the Democrats a chance in the midterms. As I wrote on Monday, there has been some enthusiasm on the part of the Democrats in recent weeks. It’s false bravado that’s intended to discourage GOP voter turnout and is being kept alive by the false narrative machine in the mainstream media.

Behind the scenes, they know it’s crap and that they’re still rushing headlong off of the electoral cliff in November. As Paula wrote, Biden is a desperate man.

It’s not just him, though; it’s everyone in the Democratic Party hierarchy. Let’s be honest, Joe Biden doesn’t have any say in his actions. It’s doubtful that the old boy even gets to weigh in on his bathroom times. The commie cabal that runs his brain set him on this path. They put him up to that fascist screed last night.

What we saw was the panic and flop sweat of every Washington power player inside the Beltway.

The Democrats have no bearings at all because of their pathological obsession with Trump. It’s pushing them into a string of unforced errors. Last night was one of them. Here was my gut feeling not long after the speech:

I sincerely hope they keep sticking this unhinged idiot who’s masquerading as the leader of the free world in front of microphones, barking “MAGA Republicans!” like the trained seal that he is. He’s energizing a base, all right.

Just not the one he thinks he is.

Physical integrity of Zaporozhye nuclear plant ‘violated several times’ – IAEA chief

UN’s nuclear watchdog has no way of saying if damage was accidental or deliberate, Rafael Grossi says

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has confirmed that damage had been done to the Russian-held Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Ukraine, but refrained from naming the guilty party.

“It’s obvious that… the physical integrity of the plant has been violated several times. By chance or by deliberation, we don’t have the elements to assess that, but this is the reality that we have to recognize,” Grossi told reporters after returning to Ukrainian-controlled territory on Friday.

“I worried, I worry and I will continue to worry about the plant until we have a situation that’s more stable, that’s more predictable,” he added.

Grossi, who headed the team of IAEA experts that arrived at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant on Thursday, said that he “saw a lot” during the visit, personally inspecting some of the “key areas” at the facility, including emergency systems, diesel generators and control rooms.

The atomic agency was “not going anywhere” from the plant now, he assured reporters, reiterating that the UN nuclear watchdog plans to establish a permanent presence at the facility.

The official also said that some experts from his team will remain at the station until Sunday or Monday to “dig deeper” and collect more data for the report.

Russia said that Ukraine has shelled the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and sent commandos to storm it on Thursday in a failed attempt to use the UN inspectors as “human shields.”

Grossi acknowledged that the security situation at the plant was “difficult” during his visit. “There were moments where fire was obvious – heavy machine gun, artillery, mortars,” he said, adding that on two or three occasions things got “very concerning” for the UN team.

Zaporozhye nuclear power plant has been under Russian control since March, but has continued to be operated by the Ukrainian staff. The IAEA chief has praised the “incredible degree of professionalism” of those employees, saying that he saw them “calm and moving.”

Moscow accused Kiev forces of repeatedly targeting the nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest, in August. It warned that those attacks could trigger a disaster that would eclipse the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, with radioactive material potentially reaching Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova, Belarus, and even Germany.

Police investigating voting device acquired in Michigan, sold on eBay, Secretary of State Benson

The Dominion voting machine was sold for $7.99 on Goodwill's website before being sold again on eBay for $1,200.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says the state government is working with police to investigate the alleged illegal sale of a Dominion Voting Systems device that helps disabled voters cast ballots.

"We are actively working with law enforcement to investigate allegations of an illegal attempt to sell a voter assist terminal acquired in Michigan," Benson said Thursday.

In the statement to voters, Benson assured residents that the state's election system remains "secure and safe" but made clear the sale broke state election law.

"While our elections remain we take seriously all violations of election law and will be working with relevant authorities to ensure there are consequences for those who break the law," Benson added.

Dominion Voting Systems Corp. sells electronic voting hardware and software, including voting machines. The machines were used in the 2020 presidential elections, and their integrity became the point of interest in states in which the presidential race was close.

In Michigan, election law prevents residents from destroying, damaging, or withholding voting equipment, in addition to obtaining "undue possession" of a voting machine.

The Dominion voting machine was dropped off at a Northern Michigan Goodwill before it was sold last month on Goodwill's website for $7.99 to an Uber driver in Ohio, who then sold it on eBay for $1,200 to a Connecticut cybersecurity expert.

Michigan authorities were alerted by the cybersecurity expert about the machine and are going to pick it up.

The voting machine was originally from Colfax Township in Wexford County, Mich.

Wexford County Clerk Alaina Nyman told Cadillac News that "No election data was on" the voter assist terminal "and you can’t get into the machine without the program cards and those were all accounted for."

Nyman said that the investigation is attempting to learn how the voting machine was acquired by the seller and when it went missing.

Regarding prevention of the disappearance of these voting machines in the future Colfax Township Clerk Becky Stoddard told Cadillac News in Michigan, "We are going to do things differently and will sign things in and out."

Clown show in MI continues

Do Democrats have a subpoena problem? Lawsuit targeting rules latest mishap for Jan. 6 panel

The Jan. 6 the committee's primary tool for compelling evidence and testimony is coming under a dramatic credibility assault from a lawsuit by the Republican nominee for Pennsylvania governor alleging the committee failed to follow House rules in a manner that should invalidate its subpoenas to witnesses.

If Doug Mastriano succeeds in his legal case, it not only could change his obligation to testify, it could also impact the cases of other witnesses like Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro accused of criminal contempt of Congress.

Mastriano's lawsuit claims the committee's failure to get Republicans to name a ranking member invalidates its power to enforce its subpoenas. For good measure, thecomplaint also challenges the validity of Chairman Bennie Thompson's signature on Mastriano's subpoena, providing evidence suggesting it may be an autopen signature generated by staff.

"The focus of this complaint is not the legitimacy of the Committee," the plaintiff argues. "Rather, it is the Committee's absolute inability to legally compel deposition testimony in compliance with the Regulations for Use of Deposition Authority. A properly appointed Ranking Minority Member is necessary for a witness, such as Plaintiff, to avail himself of the protections afforded to him in the Rules on the Use of Deposition Authority."

"The U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol is unable to comply with the House Regulations for the Use of Deposition Authority and is therefore unable to conduct a compelled deposition of the Plaintiff, or any other witness who does not consent to being deposed," it added.

To back his argument, Mastriano's lawyer Timothy Parlatore provided a letter from House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy stating Democrats are in violation of their rules and cited a 1978 court ruling that congressional subpoenas are enforceable only when the committees "conform strictly to the resolution establishing its investigatory powers."

Mastriano was subpoenaed earlier this year by the committee over his efforts to investigate election irregularities in his state during the 2020 election.

The complaint laid out conversations — some in colorful detail — that Mastriano's legal team held with the committee in an effort to reach a negotiated deal to testify. It alleges Democrats would not agree to Mastriano's requests that any deposition be transparent to avoid Democrats cherry-picking information and leaks to influence the election.

"Because Plaintiff is currently the Republican nominee for Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he asked the Committee to agree to certain prophylactic measures that would ensure that his participation would not run the risk of improperly influencing the Pennsylvania state election," the lawsuit said.

"Unfortunately, the Committee refused to negotiate any terms of a voluntary interview that would prevent them from improperly influencing the election, thus necessitating this litigation," it added.

The suit also relates details of an attempt to start a deposition this summer in which Democrats allegedly became angry when Mastriano's lawyers questioned Thompson's signature on the deposition.

"Counsel for the Plaintiff inquired as to whether the subpoena had actually been issued by the Chairman, as required," the suit said. "This inquiry was prompted after noticing that the signature on the August 8, 2022 letter was absolutely identical to the one on the subpoena itself.

"When the question was asked whether the Chairman had issued the subpoena or if a staffer had instead issued it using an autopen, the Committee representatives became upset and refused to answer, thus increasing suspicions that Chairman Thompson did not issue the subpoena or the letter."

The suit said after the two sides argued over the ranking member issue, Democrats tried to forcibly start the deposition but forgot one key step.

"Oddly, a representative of the Committee then proceeded to start asking Plaintiff questions," the suit related. "When asked by counsel for Plaintiff what he was doing, the representative announced that the deposition had commenced and that Plaintiff was not permitted to leave while a deposition question was pending. Counsel for the Plaintiff then reminded the representative for the Committee that ordinarily deposition questioning cannot commence until after a witness was sworn — something that had not occurred."

The suit asks the court to make a "declaratory judgment that Plaintiff is not required to sit for a compelled deposition" and to order Congress to pay Mastriano's legal bills.

I wonder why Navarro and Bannon didnt have lawyers with the same argument. Mastriano probably just saved both of their asses and others that were illegally subpoenaed.

Judge dismisses Carter Page suit against Comey, FBI over alleged FISA abuse

Federal judge has dismissed Carter Page's lawsuit against the FBI and former Director James Comey alleging they improperly surveilled him under a FISA warrant.

The bureau surveilled Page under a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant in a process during which they concealedexculpatory evidence against him, DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz found in his 2019 report, per the Washington Examiner.

Judge Dabney Friedrich, in a Thursday ruling, dismissed the suit.

“Page alleges that the individual defendants violated §§ 1809(a) and 1810 both by unlawfully engaging in electronic surveillance and using or disclosing the fruits of that surveillance. … Each defendant claims that Page fails to sufficiently allege that he or she violated the statute,” Friedrich wrote. “The Court finds that the claims are not time-barred but that Page does not state a claim against any of the individual defendants.”

“Some of the defendants, such as Comey, McCabe, Strzok, and Lisa Page, allegedly approved, encouraged, and facilitated Page’s investigation and the warrant applications,” the judge continued, adding “Absent from the complaint is any claim that these four defendants participated in draftingor substantively reviewing the faulty applications themselves, let alone that they performed the FISA surveillance and acquired Page’s communications.”

“If proven, these allegations clearly demonstrate wrongdoing… but Page does not allege that any of the individual defendants, including the unknown John Doe defendants and those most responsible for the applications’ critical errors, took part in obtaining the surveillance information, either by setting up the devices or gathering or listening to Page’s communications," the judge wrote.

“Thus, the Court cannot plausibly infer from this complaint that any of the individual defendants, known or unknown, ‘engaged in electronic surveillance,’ in violation of §§ 1809(a) and 1810.," Friedrich wrote.

(Are Page and his legal team trying to lose? Are these lawsuits bogus on purpose because he really wasn’t a victim? Something fishy about this if his legal team fails basic legal requirements of naming the crime of the accused. The judge had no choice but to dismiss it.)
