Your request for acknowledgement brings up the general issue of comms. When i ask a Q or have a request, i wait until it's acknowledged to leave. Really appreciate it when baker gets back quickly, so i don't have to keep checking.

Bakers who are completely anonymous can't be vetted by anyone except admins.

Mgmt welcome all competent bakers who are willing to VOLUNTEER their time to manage and transition the breads.

 

Purpose of names:

Mgmt can identify bakers by IP hash. They are thus always "named" from our pov.

What you call namefagging merely gives ANONS and OTHER BAKERS the ability to identify them.

It also promotes cooperation among bakers which means fewer e-bakes.

E-baking vs Baking

This is a rant. You aren't following the breads if you think anyone is doing 36 hr stints. Breads need bakers, especially good ones.

Thursday morning. G was e-baking - couldn't take notes. Another baker who could take notes offered to bake. Baker had left, no notes by @300. BV offered the bread to second baker.

 

E-baking is for EMERGENCIES.

  • BAKERS: After an e-bake, plz make it CLEAR whether u plan to take full responsibility for the next bread, including notables.

  • If you're not continuing, SIGN OUT, GHOSTING the baker. If looking for a notetaker, wait to see whether there's a response. If not, SIGN OUT.

  • When signing out, make it clear with something like

baker stepping down

or

baker must go, bread is GHOSTED

NOT

bake is open(ambiguous)

  • If you want to e-bake at end of bread, SIGN BACK IN before baking, tagging the dough post.

You bring up an important issue -

What is a baker supposed to be doing while baking?

Obviously - collecting notes and prepping for the bake.

But is baker supposed to only do that?

Many bakers stand back.

Anime baker likes to interact while baking.

Other bakers are somewhere in between.

 

There's really nothing that says that baker can't shitpost or have other discussions while baking. I came to dig and still do digs when possible, sometimes do digging if the bake is slow.

 

RE "wall of text"

this is a function of the WALL OF NEWS that gushes forth every day now.

Best way i've found to deal with it is using A and B versions of bread notes to shorten each "chunk".

Baker can use this even if notes would fit on a page - easier to read.
