I don’t get why Durham is charging these people with lying to the FBI, isn’t there any other criminal charge he can use like conspiring and colluding with various people to undermine or destroy the sitting President, like treason? Lying to the FBI seems to be one of the weakest charges considering the FBI lied about and colluded with massive amount of people to harm POTUS too.

BREAKING: The Feds just raided the home of Viktor Vekselberg.

Vekselberg is best remembered as a Clinton Foundation donor who played a key role in the Uranium One deal.

Bill Clinton personally lobbied the State Dept. to allow the Russian oligarch to attend a CGI conf. in 2012

Federal agents raid the homes of Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg

(Don’t get too excited i’m sure has nothing to do with Clintons, but its about Putin/Ukraine)

Federal agents searched properties allegedly linked to Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg Thursday, according to a new report from NBC New York.

The FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and the New York Police Department were seen searching two New York properties linked to the billionaire ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, NBC New York reported.

The agents and detectives were spotted carrying boxes during the search of properties in Manhattan and Southampton, N.Y., and another search is reportedly also underway in Miami, according to the outlet.

The FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the New York Police Department did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Hill.

Vekselberg has been sanctioned by the U.S. since 2018. Spanish police and FBI agents seized his $90 million superyacht in April after the Department of Justice alleged bank fraud, money laundering and sanction statues had been violated.

The oligarch “used shell companies to obfuscate his interest in the Tango to avoid bank oversight,” the Justice Department investigation alleged.

Along with a number of other Russian elites, Vekselberg was hit with new Treasury Department sanctions earlier this year after Russia invaded neighboring Ukraine.

Vekselberg, who leads the conglomerate company Renova Group, has a net worth of more than $6 billion and financial interests spanning multiple sectors of the Russian economy, according to the Treasury Department.

Vekselberg has close ties to Putin and other Moscow leaders and “has taken part in Russian diplomatic and soft power activities on behalf of the Kremlin,” according to the department.

Report: Jon Meacham an Architect Behind Biden’s Speech Targeting MAGA Movement

Presidential historian Jon Meacham was one of the architects behind President Joe Biden’s speech labeling MAGA Republicans a “threat” to America.

On Saturday, an article authored by three Politico reporters stated that Meacham helped frame the speech, which developed over the past three weeks. Meacham has previously worked with Biden on speeches, including in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, as the New York Times previously noted.

Biden’s speech made several references to the “soul” of the United States. The theme served as the title of Meacham’s book The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels, which was published in 2018.

“MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards,” said Biden in front of a red-lit Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Thursday night. “Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose. No right to privacy. No right to contraception. No right to marry who you love.”

“They promote authoritarian leaders, and they fan the flames of political violence that are a threat to our personal rights, to the pursuit of justice, to the rule of law, to the very soul of this country,” he continued.

Meacham, a Pulitzer Prize winner for his 2009 biography on populist president Andrew Jackson, has given heavy praise to President Biden as well as the far-left Democrat agenda.

Meacham spoke glowingly of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill Biden signed into law last November, asserting it would do for Biden’s legacy what the 1956 Federal Aid Highway Act did for President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s legacy.

“It will rank, I think, with what President Eisenhower was doing in the 1950s,” He told MSNBC’s The Beat. “The fact that we’re still talking about President Eisenhower and what happened with the Interstate Highway Bill, I think, proves the point.”

He has also asserted that the Founding Fathers wanted radical ideas like “critical race theory and ‘The 1619 Project‘” to be included in America’s political discourse.

Biden Brings the War on Terror Home, President Biden in his primetime speech Thursday sure sounded like a man preparing to criminalize Trumpism. Is the White House expanding the great policy error of our time?

Matt Taibbi

He looked shaky as he hobbled onstage Thursday night, but at the podium the drugs kicked in and Joe Biden delivered a commanding speech, by his standards. He handled an early bout of hoarseness like a pro, matched affect to content most of the way, and fumbled few words and none seriously.

But something was off from the start. Biden’s handlers had the otherwise inspiring setting of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall bathed in so much blood-red light, he looked like an opening act for Queensrÿche or Rammstein. Trying to create a setting for judgment and warning, they overshot the staging and made the white-haired ex-Senator look like a vampire sat up from a crypt

Kiev spreading ‘propaganda by fear’ – French ex-presidential candidate

Segolene Royal has faced backlash after questioning Ukrainian recounting of events in Bucha and Mariupol

A former presidential candidate in France has accused Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky of using ‘war propaganda’ as a tool to obstruct the peace process. Veteran politician Segolene Royal also called on the UN and media associations to fight against such tactics.

Royal’s suggestion, that some of the “war crimes” Kiev blames on Russian troops were part of ‘propaganda,’ has made her a target for widespread criticism.

Speaking to BFMTV earlier this week, Royal said that “everyone knows that there is war propaganda by fear.”

As an example, she cited the alleged shelling of a maternity hospital in Mariupol – the story which made headlines in Western media in early March. Zelensky blamed Russia for the incident that, as local authorities claimed, killed three people, including a child. The Russian military denied targeting the medical facility and insisted the whole thing was a “completely staged provocation” by the Ukrainian side.

“You can imagine that if there had been any victim, any baby with blood, in the age of cell phones we would have seen [their photos],” Royal stressed.

The authenticity of the photos presented by Kiev as proof of the claimed Russian attack were questioned by many online. Marianna Vyshemirskaya, one of the pregnant women featured in the images that appeared on the front pages of many major outlets, later claimed that there had been no Russian airstrike on the hospital. She insisted that she told AP journalists about this, but they decided not to mention it in their reportage.

Royal, who used to be a long-term partner of France’s former president Francois Hollande, also commented on the events of April in the town of Bucha near Kiev, after which Zelensky claimed that negotiations with Russia became impossible. Ukrainian authorities accused the Russian forces of multiple atrocities against civilians in the town, including the rape of children. Moscow firmly denied the allegations of war crimes, insisting it was “yet another provocation” by Kiev.

“The stories of child rape for seven hours under the eyes of the parents: but it’s monstrous to go and spread things like that only to interrupt the peace process,” the veteran French politician stated, without elaborating

She also claimed that Zelensky used accounts of alleged torture of Ukrainian soldiers by Russian troops – which Moscow also vehemently denies – not only to impede any peace process but also to “remobilize” troops. She argued that as “there’s been enough horror of war and casualties” and that “Ukrainian propaganda” should be stopped “under the aegis of the UN and media organizations.”

After BFMTV tweeted a fragment of her interview with a caption “Segolene Royal questions certain war crimes in Ukraine,” the politician responded that this was “false,” as she’d “never denied war crimes.”

On Saturday, Royal published the final part of her remarks which, as she said, was cut by the television network. In this fragment she says that “there is a form of one-upmanship in the description of the horror, to encourage arms deliveries and to refrain from setting up negotiation and peace processes.”

“To plead for peace is to act for the end of the suffering of the Ukrainian people and of Russian aggression,” she wrote in a caption to the video.

Royal’s interview was condemned by some politicians as well as by many social media users. The Stand With Ukraine group representing the victims and the families of victims of “Russian aggression” even announced that it was considering filing a complaint against Royal in order to defend “the honor of disappeared.”

Meanwhile, the president of the party The Patriots, Florian Philippot, criticized “the aggressive and crazy reactions” to Royal’s remarks and said that she “has every right, and an intellectual duty” to question war propaganda.

US limits chip sales to Russia and China – media

Restrictions were placed on high-end semiconductors used to power supercomputers and artificial intelligence

Washington has imposed restrictions on the sale of certain high-tech computer chips to Russia and China, a number of US media outlets reported on Thursday, citing two major US chipmakers, Nvidia and AMD.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the new limits affect graphics processing unit chips, or GPUs, originally developed for video games but quickly taken up by companies operating supercomputers, and scientists and tech firms that need them for recognizing speech and objects in photographs.

Washington says US chip producers will now require special export licenses to sell these types of chips as, due to their specifications, they can be used by Russia and China for weapons development and intelligence gathering.

Nvidia and AMD acknowledged the new restrictions in statements on Wednesday. While AMD said it’s unlikely that the ban will affect its business, Nvidia warned that it could interfere with the development of its new flagship chip. Both companies’ shares dropped following the news late Wednesday.

According to New York Times sources, a number of other companies that make chips or design computer software have received requests from the US authorities in recent weeks to stop exporting their high-end technologies to China and Russia.

Beijing has criticized Washington’s decision, with Commerce Ministry spokesperson Shu Jueting saying on Thursday that it affects the rights and interests of Chinese companies, while also jeopardizing the stability of the global industrial and supply chains.

Gazprom reveals reasons behind indefinite shutdown of Nord Stream pipeline

The main gas turbine was found to have an engine oil leak, the company says

The supply of natural gas to Europe through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline was indefinitely terminated after an engine oil leak was found in the main gas turbine during an inspection in St. Petersburg, Russian energy giant Gazprom said on Friday.

A joint inspection was carried out at the Portovaya compressor station near St. Petersburg with Siemens Energy, which maintains the turbine, the company added.

Gazprom highlighted that the oil leak detection report “was also signed by representatives of Siemens,” citing the German company as saying that the necessary repairs could only be done in “the conditions of a specialized workshop.”

The turbine cannot operate safely until the leak is repaired, according to the Russia firm. It gave no timeframe for the resumption of supplies via the key gas route to Europe.

Operations had been due to resume on the pipeline early on Saturday after a scheduled three-day maintenance break.

Nord Stream 1 had been operating at reduced capacity since July due to the shutdown of several gas turbines. Some were sent to Montreal for repairs and got stuck there due to Canadian sanctions on Moscow over Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. At Germany’s request, Ottawa announced an exemption for the turbines in July, returning one, but Gazprom refused to take delivery, citing irregularities in the documentation.

Gazprom has cited faulty or delayed equipment as the main reason for the 80% reduction of deliveries via the pipeline. Earlier this week,Moscow said only sanctions are preventing Nord Stream 1 from working at full capacity. Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller had also warned that sanctions could obstruct Siemens Energy from carrying out regular maintenance of the pipeline’s equipment.

Meanwhile, the newly built Nord Stream 2 pipeline stands idle asGermany has refused to certify it for operation.

EU to blame for Nord Stream 1 lying idle – Russia

The gas pipeline was shut because contracts for shipping and repair were violated by Brussels, according to Moscow

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has blamed the European Union for the problems that have prevented the resumption of gas supplies via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. He told the EU “not to lay the bloc’s leaders’ fault at Russia’s door.”

“Right now, the entire problem lies precisely on that side, because all the conditions of the repair contract have been completely violated, along with the terms of shipping of the equipment,” Novak said on Sunday in an interview with Rossiya 1 TV channel.

Gas deliveries via Nord Stream 1 were shut down completely on August 31. Prior to that, the pipeline under the Baltic Sea had been operating at 40% capacity since June, providing just 67 million cubic meters per day. The initial reduction in supply was due to a delay returning gas turbines following scheduled maintenance in Canada, which arose as a result of Ottawa’s sanctions on Russia.

In July, supplies through the pipeline dropped to 20% capacity, as the remaining turbines required an overhaul.

On Friday, Gazprom said shipments would not be resuming following a three-day maintenance break after an engine oil leak was detected in a turbine. The company provided no details on the duration of the stoppage.

White House asks for more money for Ukraine

The Biden administration says it needs another $11.7 billion to keep helping Kiev

The White House asked Congress on Friday to approve another $11.7 billion in military aid for Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia.

The sum was included in an emergency funding request for $47.1 billion, which the Biden administration said was also required for its response to Covid-19 and monkeypox, as well as disaster relief efforts.

The $11.7 billion package includes $4.5 billion for military equipment and the replenishment of Pentagon stockpiles, $2.7 billion on defense and intelligence aid for Ukraine, and $4.5 billion on budgetary support for the government in Kiev.

“We have rallied the world to support the people of Ukraine to defend their democracy and we simply cannot allow that support to Ukraine to run dry,” White House Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young wrote in a blog post.

The administration also requested $2 billion to alleviate the negative effects of the conflict in Ukraine, as well as Western sanctions imposed on Russia affecting energy supplies in the US.

The US has been the main backer of Kiev in its conflict with Moscow, providing the Ukrainian forces with billions of dollars in military and financial aid, as well as intelligence data. Washington’s deliveries to the Zelensky government have included such sophisticated hardware as HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, M777 howitzers, and combat drones.

Congress approved a $40 billion military and humanitarian support package for Ukraine in May. According to Young, around three-quarters of the aid that lawmakers provided to Kiev has already been disbursed or committed. “As we said at the time, those resources were intended to last through September,” she explained.

Russia has repeatedly criticized the deliveries of weapons to Kiev from Washington and its allies, saying they won’t change the outcome of the conflict, but will prolong the fighting and increase the risk of a direct confrontation between Moscow and NATO.

Russia is unreliable energy partner – Germany

Chancellor Scholz says his country has been severely impacted by the Russia-Ukraine conflict

(It couldn’t possibly be the insane sanctions the UE imposed on Russia, that is only hurting their countries. Trump warned you guys!)

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz claimed on Sunday that Russia cannot be considered a reliable energy supplier, and accused Moscow of breaching its contractual obligations.

Speaking at a news conference with party leaders from the Greens and pro-business FDP, he said Moscow was always a reliable energy partner “even during the Cold War,” but that the rule no longer applies.

According to the chancellor, the impact of the Ukraine conflict and related sanctions is being keenly felt in Germany, but Berlin will continue to support Kiev against Russia.

Scholz expects Germany to pass through a rough period, but expressed his confidence that the nation will cope with the energy crunch during the upcoming winter season.

Germany is grappling with natural gas supply problems via Nord Stream 1, which has been entirely shut down since August 31. The natural gas pipeline under the Baltic was operating at 40% of capacity from June onwards, providing some 67 million cubic meters per day. The initial supply reduction occurred due to the delayed return of gas turbines after scheduled maintenance in Canada, resulting from Ottawa's sanctions against Russia. In July, supplies through the pipeline dropped to 20%, as the remaining turbines required an overhaul. Earlier this week, supplies were entirely halted for a scheduled three-day maintenance break, and Gazprom later announced an indefinite shutdown, after an engine oil leak was found in the turbine.

READ MORE: Gazprom discloses major challenge for Nord Stream

Several EU politicians have accused Moscow of using gas exports as a geopolitical weapon, a claim denied by the Kremlin. Earlier this week, Moscow said only Western sanctions are preventing Nord Stream 1 from working at full capacity. This comes after repeated warnings from Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller that sanctions would obstruct Siemens Energy from carrying out maintenance of the pipeline’s equipment.
