60% of UK companies to close as energy prices soar

Citing a poll conducted by MakeUK, a lobby group for British factories, Bloomberg reported on Saturday that approximately 60% of factories in the UK are at extreme risk of shutting down as energy costs across the country continue to skyrocket, with electricity bills surging by more than 100% over the past year.

MakeUK commented: “The current crisis is leaving businesses facing a stark choice,” adding: “Cut production or shut up shop altogether if help does not come soon.”

UK officials and authorities have been facing immense pressure for the past year as a result of the gas crisis which led to the need to tackle the ensuing energy crisis, with multiple efforts of support measures to help consumers and businesses deal with the rapidly surging costs.

With inflation at a 40-year high, wages are being stretched as price rises erode the value of the pound in their pocket. The UK has especially witnessed a series of walkouts in the last months of rail workers due to poor job security and low wages.

According to a purchasing managers’ index published by S&P Global, the country’s factory sector is already in a declining pattern, while MakeUK’s survey shows that 13% of factories have diminished their operating hours or are avoiding peak periods, with 7% halting production for longer periods.

An NHS (National Health Services) chief has warned that soaring energy costs will kill more than 10,000 people this winter; a situation the NHS Confederation referred to as a "humanitarian crisis". The UK Britain announced last week a vast 80% hike in electricity and gas bills, in a dramatic worsening of the cost-of-living crisis before winter as the UK awaits a new leader.

Germany issues nearly €65 bln relief to deal with winter energy crisis

The German government approved Sunday a $64.7 billion relief package, which includes continued cheaper public transport and tax breaks for energy-reliant companies, as they have been affected the most by the biggest surge in prices.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, Germany's inflation rose to almost 8% in August after declining slightly in the months of June and July.

The consecutive sanctions against Moscow prompted a race against the clock to diminish Germany's reliance on Russian gas before winter. Groceries and food are other sectors experiencing the aftermath of soaring inflation which saw prices surge 12% in June before reaching 16.6% in August.

In a press release after talks on Sunday, chancellor Olaf Scholz said Germany would give €1.5 billion toward public transport discounts after the country's monthly €9 travel ticket offer expired at the end of August, adding that windfall taxes would likely be assessed on energy companies to lower the price of gas, oil, and coal for consumers.

Scholz also reassured the matter of Germany's energy supply ahead of the winter after Russia recently stopped gas supplies to Europe through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, commenting that Germany made "timely decisions" to avoid shortages in winter, such as filling gas storage facilities and restarting coal power plants. "We will get through this winter," he said.

13 EU nations have either ceased getting Russian gas entirely or are only receiving a portion of it due to the temporary blockage of the Nord Stream pipeline 1, according to TASS.

This is the third relief package by the German government this year. The two previous ones included a gasoline rebate that expired at the end of August, the €9 transportation ticket, and an energy price flat payment to workers.

Lapid: “Israel” leads campaign to prevent US from signing nuclear deal

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said “Israel” will continue to add pressure on the US not to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, but not to the point of causing a diplomatic crisis.

“We are leading an intensive campaign meant to prevent the signing of a dangerous nuclear deal between Iran and world powers,” he said.

Lapid spoke the day before Mossad chief David Barnea was scheduled to leave for Washington to speak to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees about the “Iranian threat and the dangers of a nuclear deal”, and several days after the Israeli PM reportedly spoke with US President Joe Biden about the Iran deal.

“The correct policy is the one that we have been leading in the past year: To continue the pressure, without causing a rupture, to present credible intelligence, to be part of the process without destroying the special relationship with the US,” Lapid added.

“The reservations we presented to the US government were taken into account,” Lapid stressed.

Nevertheless, Washington has not released a statement regarding Lapid's notes nor did it promise any guarantees in its upcoming dealing with the JCPOA revival.

On the other hand, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed Monday, "our peaceful nuclear capability is our right, and no one can obstruct Iran from preserving this right," adding that "the Zionist entity never wanted it [Iran] to obtain the technology, but it got it against their will."

He stressed that "all the Zionist entity's threats and measures will be helpless in stopping our path, and the entity is aware that it is unable to confront us; its threats reflect its fear," advising "Israel" not to launch any aggression because it "may no longer exist [as a result]."

It is worth noting that Iran has responded to the "final" text submitted by the European Union regarding the nuclear deal last week, and the parties have been studying it.

The Israeli occupation exerted strained efforts to sway the US from an agreement to return to the landmark 2015 deal with Tehran, yet it is attempting not to overplay its hand in order to avoid straining relations with the Biden administration the way Netanyahu did with the Obama administration at the time of signing of the first nuclear deal.

Italy's Salvini asserts that sanctions against Russia 'hurting' Europe

The leader of Italy's far-right party, Matteo Salvini, triggered a debate on Sunday by saying that the unprecedented sanctions against Russia imposed by the West were not working.

"Several months have passed and people are paying two, three, even four times more for their bills," he told RTL radio. "And after seven months, the war continues and Russian Federation coffers are filling with money."

Energy prices have been on the high rise since the start of the war in Ukraine, while economies in the European Union have been heavily reliant on Russian energy, which Moscow won't be providing anymore.

During an economic forum in Cernobbio, Italy, Salvini asserted: "We need a European shield" to protect businesses and families.

"If we want to go ahead with the sanctions, let's do it, we want to protect Ukraine – but I would not want that to mean that instead of harming the sanctioned, we harm ourselves," he said.

Salvini, a day earlier, tweeted "those who have been sanctioned are winners and those who put the sanctions in place are on their knees."

"It's evident that someone in Europe has made a bad calculation. It is essential to rethink the strategy to save jobs and businesses in Italy," he said.

Salvini's rival, Enrico Letta, who is the leader of the Democratic Party, remarked: "When I hear Salvini talk about sanctions, I feel like I'm listening to Putin's propaganda."

Scum of human race, has no red lines: Lieberman on Netenyahu

The Israeli Knesset is faced with a deep divide that has become a greater risk to its existence as Moshe Yaalon argued on August 27 when he said that “Israel’s” greatest existential threat comes from internal strife.

Avigdor Lieberman, current Finance Minister, has condescendingly attacked former PM Benjamin Netanyahu, also known as the leader of the opposition, during a government meeting that quickly turned the Knesset into a political circus.

Before entering the government meeting, Israel Hayom reported that what appeared to be a very upset Finance Minister said that "Netanyahu knows that what separates him from the government in Israel… He is trying to forget the letters he received from the Miron Committee - and all his efforts are directed against me,” adding that his bloc will do everything possible to ensure that the Likud does not cross the 59 thresholds at the polls in the upcoming elections.

Once inside the meeting, Lieberman redirects his speech toward Netanyahu’s Likud, as Israeli media reported, and said that “He is the scum of the human race, he has no red lines."

To which, Israel Hayom reported, the Likud responded "Lieberman is inciting the Nationalists under pressure. The man who suggested throwing the ultra-Orthodox into the landfill is now calling Netanyahu derogatory names as the last of the gangsters. Let's hope he doesn't offer anyone $100,000 to eliminate Netanyahu,” adding that "Lieberman can stop hallucinating, Likud and former Prime Minister Netanyahu have nothing to do with the disturbing allegations published against him in recent days."

MK Moshe Gafni, the chairman of Torah Judaism, also had a response to Lieberman’s accusations of Netanyahu and was quoted by Israel Hayom saying “Lieberman has revealed his true face, the issue is not a concern for the citizens of Israel or their economy, but hatred of Netanyahu. The man has completely lost it."

Lapid and the Iranian nuclear deal

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said, at the start of the government meeting, that “Israel” will continue to add pressure on the US not to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, but not to the point of causing a diplomatic crisis.

Ex-Chiefs also comment on Netanyahu and the Iran nuclear deal

Five former chiefs of staff of the IOF, according to The Times of "Israel", Ehud Barak, Moshe Yaalon, Gabi Ashkenazi, Benny Gantz, and Gadi Eisenkot, argued in a rare joint interview during the inauguration of a library that the disintegration of Israeli internal social cohesion poses a threat to “Israel” greater than Iran turning into a nuclear threshold state.

When the interviewer questioned the five ex-chiefs about Netanyahu being the "elephant in the room" and that every one of them has been avoiding all mention of him and is actively going to vote against him in the upcoming elections, Barak said, “I suggest that in a conversation about Ben-Gurion, we don’t also talk about Netanyahu. It diminishes the subject of the conversation.”

Ashkenazi voiced his agreement with Barak and Yaalon and said, “I would add that also the heads of the Shin Bet and Mossad, except for one, won’t (vote for him) either.”

It is worth noting that the divide over the Iran nuclear deal runs roughly between Israeli officials, becoming more salient as the US pushes for the deal’s revival.

This dispute has a direct impact today on escalating internal divisions which threaten the occupation’s national security.

Gantz chooses Herzi Halevi as new Israeli military chief of staff

Israeli media reported that Israeli security minister Benny Gantz decided to appoint Deputy Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi as chief of staff, after the end of Aviv Kochavi's term next year.

In mid-August, Israeli media agencies quoted former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett as saying that "It is irresponsible not to appoint a chief of staff while Israel is in a sensitive security situation," referring to the Hezbollah and the Karish field, the battles in Syria, and "Breaking Dawn" offensive in Gaza.

The security system of the occupation was preparing to choose a successor to Kochavi, who will likely be replaced at the beginning of next year and whose position was granted by the Bennett-Lapid government as soon as it was formed last year.

Israeli media said that Kochavi is deeply disappointed, as he was unable to present a single victory that would qualify him to continue in the path of politics after the end of his military career.

Kochavi carries several great disappointments embodied in the Battle of Seif Al-Quds.

Three military names had emerged as the most likely to occupy the position of the Chief of Staff prior to the decision to appoint Major General Herzi Halevi: General Herzi Halevi, General Eyal Zamir, and General Yoel Strick.

Halevi is currently the deputy chief of staff and has previously held several positions, such as the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate "Aman," the Commanding Officer of the IOF Southern Command, and the commander of the Galilee Division.

Halevi believes that dealing with Gaza is based on the principle that "the more the Gazans strengthen their military capabilities, the more force we will have to exert to take Gaza backward." Halevi also warns of the danger of the formation of unified fronts between the Palestinian resistance and the Lebanese resistance, as well as the possibility of a multi-front war.

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/experts:-price-cap-on-russian-oil-to-further-aggravate-energ

Experts: price cap on Russian oil to further aggravate energy crisis

Observers analyzed that the price cap on Russian oil agreed upon by the G7 will likely cause more damage to Western investors after energy costs surge further.

G7 finance ministers met in Berlin to discuss imposing a price cap on Russian oil. The price caps for oil will come into effect on December 5, and for petroleum products on February 5, 2023

In response to the special operation in Ukraine, Western countries have rolled out a comprehensive sanctions campaign aimed, in particular, at Russian energy resources. That sent food and energy prices soaring, triggering record-high inflation in some countries.

Martin Hutchinson, a former merchant banker, business analyst, and economic historian said that the G7 oil price cap will likely cause the same damage as previous sanctions on Russia and will further worsen the energy crisis.

"So far sanctions on Russia have been hell for innocent Western investors, whose Russian assets have been frozen, but have had zero effect on Russia," Hutchinson said.

He also said that resulting price rises from the oil cap will end up compensating for volume declines, and that the G7 states have no control over the policies of heavy oil consumers like China and India, nor the major energy producers of the Middle East.

"The oil will flow to China and India, and Middle East oil at a higher price will flow to Europe and the US," he said. "It's fatuous."

Hutchinson's use of the word "counterproductive" implied that Western efforts to economically penalize Russia have profited its foreign earnings instead by driving global oil prices far higher.

Marshall Auerback of the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College said that the G7's approach has marked an acute step back in global developments.

"A classic case of closing the barn door after the horse has bolted," Auerback told sources. "Owing to slowing economic growth and a downshift in oil’s intensity of use since around 2016, the secular trend in oil demand globally and in the US is far weaker than the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the US Energy Information Agency (EIA) and hence the market thinks."

Independent Institute Center for Peace & Liberty Director Ivan Eland, recalling how previous government attempts to artificially influence global markets failed disastrously, said "price controls never work."

Russia's oil export volumes have decreased since the commencement of the Ukraine war, although income increased by $700 million in June compared to May, according to the International Energy Agency in August, due to higher global oil prices.

The price ceiling, which Western leaders agreed on in principle in June, would limit the number of money refiners and merchants could pay for Russian oil. The measure is intended to reduce the Kremlin's earnings while keeping Russian oil on the market in order to avert a price upsurge.

Moscow has previously stated that it will not comply, instead exporting its crude to nations that are not subject to the quota.

Several unidentified G7 officials told Reuters that they doubted the ban would be successful if just the group's members - the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan - enforced it. They noted that in order for the measure to have a tangible impact on Russia's oil profits, the G7 would need the support of large oil consumers like China and India.

According to Reuters, such a situation is improbable. Furthermore, while about 95% of the world's tanker fleet now relies on London-brokered shipping insurance, the paper noted, citing unidentified analysts, that alternatives may be found.

Russian embassy denounces US for condoning neo-Nazi crimes in Ukraine

The Russian embassy in Washington said that the United States is oblivious to the dangers of Nazi ideology and has encouraged neo-Nazi nationalists in Ukraine to commit crimes.

The embassy said in a post on Telegram, "We have taken note of the condemnation by the US State Department of violence and hate everywhere’ with regard to the assassination attempt on Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. However, it’s obvious that American diplomats intentionally turn a blind eye to the extreme beliefs of the alleged criminal, hisblack sun’ neo-Nazi tattoos typical of the Azov battalion (outlawed in Russia)."

Recalling when an Azov insignia-bearing teen carried out a mass shooting in the US, Russian diplomats said, the US officials "forget that the shooter, accused of killing 10 people at a Buffalo supermarket in May 2022, had the same tattoos."

The embassy stressed that "very concise declarations regarding the blatant manifestation of radicalism in Buenos Aires show that Washington is not willing to draw inconvenient conclusions."

"A question arises: how many more people around the world must be affected by the actions of Nazi ideology supporters before the US realizes its dangers and stops condoning the nationalists’ crimes. That is exactly what the US is doing in Ukraine where the Kiev regime fighters continue to intentionally exterminate the civilian population," Russian diplomats added.

The remarks came two days after Argentinian Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner survived an assassination attempt Thursday night after a man, who has been found to be sporting a neo-Nazi emblem, pointed a gun at her head but it failed to go off.

This is happening as neo-Nazim has been gaining more ground, as it saw an increase in popularity, as was evident in Europe; the war in Ukraine was a peaking point for the far-right.

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/germany-to-further-aid-ukraine-with-199-mln

Germany to further aid Ukraine with $199 mln

Germany has pledged an additional 200 million euros ($199.02 million) for Ukraine, though this time it's for aid programs for internally displaced refugees, claimed German Development Minister Svenja Schulze on Sunday.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will visit Berlin on Monday to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and discuss the flow of more money into Ukraine.

"I will speak to Prime Minister Shmyhal about how we can continue to support the Ukrainian government in caring for the displaced people," Schulze said.

Schulze also claimed that the money was "intended to help the displaced people in Ukraine to continue to be able to provide for themselves with the essentials."

Data by the United Nations' International Organization for Migration showed that around seven million people have been internally displaced in Ukraine since the start of the war.

A German government official said last month the European Union sought to finance an aid package worth some 8 billion euros by September for Ukraine, which goes to show that the EU found it easier to finance arms than aid for refugees.

Despite pledging more assistance, senior EU officials admit that there will most likely be a "crunch point" in the fall or early winter when EU countries begin to feel acute domestic economic pain as a result of the crisis.

Macron said that France will continue to support Ukraine with military, financial, and humanitarian aid until "victory" has been achieved on terms acceptable to Kiev. But behind these public statements of support for Ukraine lies a tug-of-war between Germany, France, and — before Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s downfall — Italy on the one hand, and Poland, the Baltics, and Nordics on the other.

The countries of the EU, mainly France and Germany, do not know what a "victory" might entail, and they continue to blindly aid Ukraine without knowing whether the war can be "won" without any escalations that directly involve NATO or the EU, or even Russia's use of unconventional weapons.

Germany is Ukraine's biggest European backer, with Berlin continuing to transfer weaponry to Ukraine that even its own forces do not have.

German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, reported by Germany's DPA news agency, said in July the German military is running out of weapons that can be sent to Ukraine, but Ukraine may still rely on Germany's assistance in the future.

Russia, on the other hand, has been providing shelters for Ukrainian refugees, taking up as many as 25,000 people in one day.

Russia has also been opening humanitarian corridors from Ukraine into its territories to help with the flow of refugees as well as send humanitarian aid into the country. Kiev, however, has refused to cooperate with Moscow's humanitarian efforts, claiming that it was "dangerous".

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/trump:-joe-biden-is-an-enemy-of-the-state

Trump: Joe Biden is an ‘enemy of the state’

After US President Joe Biden’s speech condemning MAGA ideology, former US President Donald Trump responded to Biden by calling the president an "enemy of the state" during a Saturday rally in Pennsylvania.

On September 2, Biden bashed his Republican nemesis and “MAGA Republicans,” warning that they “pose a clear and present danger” to US democracy.

"MAGA forces are determined to take this country backward. Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love," he stated.

Biden's speech came just days after he slammed the "MAGA philosophy", which he called "semi-fascism."

Trump, who is being investigated for breaching multiple federal laws, bashed his successor at a rally in support of Republican candidates in November's midterm elections in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

He blamed Biden for having “vilified” the 71 million voters who backed the ex-president in 2020 as “threats to democracy and as enemies of the state”.

“He's an enemy of the state if you want to know the truth. The enemy of the state is him and the group that control him which is circling around him,” Trump said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he also stated that Biden is “cognitively impaired and in no condition to lead our country.”

Trump and Biden have been engaged in a war of words, bashing each other on different occasions.

This comes as Americans are feeling quite pessimistic about the future of the country, as almost half of them think that a civil war could break out soon.

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/former-us-gen-on-ukraine-war:-better-to-negotiate-now-than-l

Former US gen. on Ukraine war: 'Better to negotiate now than later'

The most recent military aid package to Kiev last month, approved by Washington, included “older and less advanced” systems, which “may indicate that battlefield consumption rates have outpaced production to a point where excess inventories provided to Ukraine are nearly exhausted,” retired US Army brigadier general Mark T. Kimmitt pointed out in his article on Thursday for the Wall Street Journal.

The "dwindling stocks of leading-edge weapon systems” in NATO countries indicate a probably prolonged conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Such a scenario could result in “more pressure from supporting nations, sustained inflation, less heating gas, and falling popular support” in the West, Kimmitt commented.

Having served as an assistant secretary of state for political-military affairs in 2008-09, Kimmitt noted four methods to speed up the resolution of the conflict, which has now marked six months, with the first choice being to “dig deeper” into NATO stockpiles and send weapons to Kiev. These weapons have already been withheld by members due to their own national defense requirements, which according to Kimmitt is something EU countries may be willing to do as it’s “better to use these weapons in Kherson than Krakow”.

The retired general suggested that the US and its EU allies could also try boosting manufacturing of the systems requested by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as a second choice, while acknowledging that such a move would not likely have an instant and direct effect on the situation on the ground. Stepping up the conflict by providing Ukraine with longer-range systems, like ATACM missiles, F-16 jets, and Patriots, and expanding "the rules of engagement to attack targets in Crimea and possibly Russia,” could be a third option according to Kimmitt. However, he advised that such an escalation would most certainly face a “response from Moscow” and create the risk of conflict spilling into Europe.

Kimmitt further provides a fourth and final solution, which is for Ukraine to “push for an interim diplomatic resolution without (or with) territorial concessions,” adding that “there is little incentive to negotiate” momentarily, but insisted that Zelensky “must recognize that diminishing resupplies would have a disastrous effect on his army, not merely for battlefield operations but for the message of declining outside support it would send to the people of Ukraine".

“Beginning the diplomatic resolution would be distasteful, and perhaps seen as defeatist, but as there is little chance of climbing out of the current morass, it may be better to negotiate now than later,” the retired general said.

Ukraine and Russia haven’t convened at the negotiating table since talks in Istanbul in late March as Moscow, which had initially been optimistic about the possibilities in the peace process, accused Kiev of retreating on all the progress and said it had lost trust in the Ukrainian negotiators. Russian officials warned that Moscow’s demands would be more extensive if talks were to resume.

The initiative now lies with Kiev, but so far Ukraine's leadership has made it obvious that it is hesitant to begin the process, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who indicated on Sunday that Moscow is prepared to resume full-scale negotiations with Kiev.

UNIFIL denies relaying a message from "Israel" to Lebanon

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) denied claims of relaying a message from "Israel" to Lebanon regarding the blue line.

Reports about the Israeli security forces firing at anyone who comes close to the blue line on the Lebanese side are “not true”, UNIFIL said.

The United Nations Security Council on Wednesday renewed the mandate of the UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon for one year, asking the UNIFIL to continue providing logistical support for the Lebanese army for another six months.

The UNIFIL has been in the Lebanese South since 1978 as a "buffer" between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation as the two parties are technically still in a state of war.

The Security Council decided, at the request of Beirut, to extend the 10,000-strong force's mandate until August 2023.

This is happening at a time when confrontation may be at the door between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation over the latter's threat to occupy the Karish gas field, and thus strip Lebanon of its own maritime territory and right. Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has vowed that the Lebanese Resistance will target the drilling platform in case a demarcation agreement with the Lebanese government is not reached in addition to enabling Lebanon to explore its own resources.

The resolution was adopted by the council's 15 members, who stressed in particulate the "risk that violations of the cessation of hostilities could lead to a new conflict that none of the parties or the region can afford."

The Israeli occupation is notorious for continuously sending drones violating Lebanese airspace, bugging the Lebanese people, and disturbing the silence of their nights for their reconnaissance operations.

The Israeli occupation also violates Lebanon's sovereignty by continuously using its airspace to launch aggression against Syria.

But the resolution stressed that the support was "temporary" and "should not be considered as a precedent… nor a long term solution."

https://english.almayadeen.net/news/politics/us-planning-to-transfer-bio-programs-to-former-ussr-states:

US planning to transfer bio programs to former USSR states: Russia

The United States is planning on transferring its programs of biological research from Ukraine to post-Soviet republics, as well as Eastern European and Baltic states, chief of the Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kirillov said Saturday.

The Russian official underlined that Washington was working on putting its plans into high gear at the soonest time possible, noting that this would allow the US to develop and store components of biological weapons, which pose a threat to the security of Russia.

"The Pentagon is poised to shortly relocate the programs unfinished in Ukraine to other post-Soviet states, as well as to Eastern European states, such as Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and the Baltic states," Kirillov said.

"The enlargement of the network of bio laboratories, which may be used to develop and store components of biological weapons, poses a threat to the military security of the Russian Federation. Unlike nuclear weapons that the United States deploys to NATO allies' territories, this policy of the alliance in the biological field makes it possible for it to get close to our borders uncontrollably," he stressed.

Russia and the United States have been undergoing major tensions for the past few months, with Moscow accusing Washington of having biological laboratories in Ukraine and the latter denying it. Eventually, the US confirmed that it did have what Under Secretary for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland referred to as "biological research facilities".

Nuland refused to cooperate with the Russian parliamentary commission on the operations of US biological laboratories in Ukraine, Deputy Speaker of Russia's Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said late last month.

Russia sent an official invitation to Nuland through diplomatic channels on May 25, but the US diplomat did not respond to it.

That came after Moscow discovered new information proving the Pentagon's involvement in developing components for biological weapons in Ukraine.

Data on biological laboratories found in Ukraine does not help the case of the US against claims regarding its compliance with the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC), Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova had said.

Additionally, Moscow found that US President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, helped finance military research into dangerous pathogens at Biolabs in Ukraine is true, according to new emails from his infamous laptop.

Moscow also exhibited documents confirming the organization of military-biological work by the Pentagon represented by the US Department of Defense Threat Reduction Department.

US ambassador to Russia leaves Moscow office

The US diplomatic mission in Russia announced that US ambassador John Sullivan completed his work in Russia and left Moscow on Sunday.

"U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation John J. Sullivan has concluded his tenure as U.S. envoy and departed Moscow today… Elizabeth Rood will assume duties as Charge d’Affaires at U.S. Embassy Moscow until Ambassador Sullivan’s successor arrives," the embassy said in a statement.

However, alongside this announcement, Washington said it does not seek to downgrade its diplomatic relations with Russia.

"We do not comment on steps and procedures for the rotation of heads of diplomatic missions. In any case, we are not talking about downgrading the US diplomatic mission in Russia," the source said.

According to the US embassy, Sullivan stood down, leaving Moscow after three years of working in Russia. The next to head the mission is Elizabeth Rood until the replacement for the ambassador arrives.

In June, the US Embassy in Russia announced the return of Ambassador John Sullivan to Moscow after being absent for two months, as part of the summit repercussions that brought together US Presidents Joe Biden and Russian Vladimir Putin on June 16.

His return to Moscow came after returning the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, to Washington.
