World’s largest particle collider at risk over EU energy crunch

Scientists at the European nuclear research organization (CERN) fear they might have to shut down particle accelerators to save energy

The European energy crisis is threatening to affect the world’s largest particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the head of the European nuclear research organization (CERN) energy management panel, Serge Claudet, has admitted.

The agency is now working on contingency plans that could even see the LHC shut down to reduce energy consumption at peak times, he told the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.

“Our concern is really grid stability, because we do all we can to prevent a blackout in our region,” Claudet said. However, the scientists will seek to keep the LHC operating and try to avoid a sudden shutdown of the $4.4-billion machine, he added.

The LHC is one of eight particle accelerators located at CERN’s sprawling complex on the border between France and Switzerland. It is also one of France’s largest energy consumers, requiring some 200 megawatts of power during its peak operation periods. The entire nearby city of Geneva consumes only around three times that amount.

CERN is hoping to reach an agreement with its energy supplier – the French state power giant EDF SA – and wants at least a day’s notice in the event that it has to reduce its energy consumption.

Under its current strategy, the center would shut down other accelerators to lower its consumption by 25% but keep the LHC operating, Claudet said.

Shutting down the LHC would save another 25%, according to the energy management panel head. However, it would also set back any experiments involving the collider by weeks, since it requires a large amount of power even when it’s not being used. CERN is now working on a plan to present to the governments that fund the center later in September.

Europe is facing an acute energy crisis linked to Brussels’ plans to rid the bloc of Russian energy supplies amid Moscow’s ongoing military operation in Ukraine. Russia has also reduced its gas exports to Europe, citing technical issues related to sanctions that the West has imposed over the conflict.

France is facing additional energy supply setbacks after corrosion was discovered on piping used in some of its nuclear reactors. Some 12 of these were taken out of operation for repair, further reducing the country’s power supply.

Proof that Israel found serious safety problems with the COVID vaccines then deliberately covered it up

Israel didn't start to gather safety data until a year into the vaccine program. They gathered 6 months worth of data and found that the vaccines weren't safe so they lied to the world about it.

The single most important point is this:

Based upon the government corruption, the safety data, and the correlation of the vaccine and deaths, the precautionary principle of medicine demands an immediate halt to the COVID vaccination program.

The key facts in a nutshell:

The Israeli health authority knew the vaccines were harming people: the side effects of the vaccine are neither mild nor short term. In fact, in 65% of the neurological cases that mentioned duration, the symptoms are all on-going.

They also established causality: the side effects were caused by the vaccine. This is something no one else had been able to establish before.

They don’t know how serious the harm is because they only looked at the data for the top five categories. Cardiovascular was #6. So they have only looked at a fraction of the data.

The researchers do not know the prevalence of these serious side effects because they were just provided with the numerator, not the denominator (similar to VAERS).

The Israeli authorities deliberately covered up the safety issues and hid it from the world, issuing a false report essentially saying “there is nothing new to see here folks, move along.”

The only good news in all of this is that Israel protected Palestinians from getting this very unsafe vaccine. That was very humane of the Israelis.

Just to be sure the CDC knows about this, I just emailed hundreds of people at the CDC who are involved in the COVID vaccines (including Rochelle Walensky) to let them know that the report and video are available. This isn’t surprising that they ignore this. All negative data on the vaccine is ignored. For example, when I discovered that young Canadian doctors were dying at a more than 12X normal after the second booster, the Canadian Medical Association, whose job it is to to be an advocate for the health of doctors, refused to comment. I sent five requests and they ignored all requests. They should change their website to say that they are an advocate for the drug companies, not the health of doctors.

Data Broker Helps Police See Everywhere You’ve Been with the Click of a Mouse — EFF Investigation

Fog Data Science sells local police cheap access to a massive digital dragnet without well-defined rules.

SAN FRANCISCO–Millions of Americans’ everyday movements can be traced by police with the click of a mouse and possibly without a warrant, thanks to a data broker that’s selling phone geolocation data to state and local law enforcement, an Electronic Frontier Foundation investigation has found.

The investigation, conducted by a team of EFF experts led by Staff Technologist Bennett Cyphers, found Virginia-based Fog Data Science sells a service that it bills as allowing police to see where a person was at any point in time over the past several years. This surveillance not only includes possible crime scenes, but also homes, churches, workplaces, health clinics, or anywhere else.

The data is collected and passed through a chain of businesses before ending up with law enforcement. First, personal location data is gathered via thousands of common apps that people use on Android and iOS phones, that people install for various purposes and may not suspect are gathering and sharing that information further. It is then bought by data brokers that resell it to others, including Fog Data Science, which in turn sells it to cops. While other data brokers sell geolocation data to large federal law enforcement agencies, Fog markets itself to the hometown cops with whom most Americans are far more likely to interact.

“This data could be used to search for and identify everyone who visited a Planned Parenthood on a specific day, or everyone who attended a protest against police violence,” Cyphers said. “Fog already has extensively traced innocent people’s movements just to close its sales pitches, and local police have cast wide nets for minor crimes. The potential for abuse is staggering, and from what we’ve found so far, there are few or no rules protecting our constitutional rights.”

In marketing materials sent to state highway patrols, local police departments, and county sheriffs across the nation, Fog Data Science claims to have “billions” of data points about “over 250 million” devices, and that its data can be used to learn where targets work, live, and associate–in police lingo, a “pattern of life.” Agencies can buy in for less than $10,000 per year.

State police in Maryland, Indiana, and New Jersey, the highway patrols in California and Missouri, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have had contracts with Fog lasting at least one year. Police in New York City, Houston, and the Broward County, FL Sheriff’s Office bought access to Fog’s service, as did much smaller agencies including the police in Lawrence, KS (population 97,000) and the sheriff of Washington County, OH (population 60,000).

EFF learned about Fog after filing more than 100 public records requests over several months for documents pertaining to government relationships with location data brokers. Records received by EFF indicate that Fog has past or current contracts with at least 18 local, state, and federal law enforcement clients, while other agencies accepted free trials.

A Washington think-tanker and an expert in Russian propaganda, Stradner is also a member of NAFO — or the North Atlantic Fellas Organization — an informal alliance of internet culture warriors, national security experts and ordinary Twitter users weaponizing memes, viral videos and, yes, dog photos to push back against Russian online disinformation.

“I see myself as a NAFO civilian propagandist,” said Stradner, an adviser to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a conservative think tank. “Until now, Russia has been the only ones willing to play a dirty game.” By posting on Twitter, she was letting her 26,000 followers know who they could turn to if they needed to deal with an infestation of “Vatniks” — a Russian pejorative for Kremlin sympathizers.

The group — which includes ordinary foot soldiers like Stradner, as well as political heavyweights like U.S. Congressman Adam Kinzinger, former Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and, as of this week, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov — uses as its weapon of choice a badly-drawn image of Shiba Inu, the Japanese dog breed that became an internet sensation a decade ago and is referred to as a “doge” in internet culture.

NAFO “fellas,” as they prefer to be called, emblazon their Twitter accounts with the Shiba Inu avatar. They overlay the image on TikTok-style videos of Ukrainian troops set to dance music soundtracks. They pile onto Russian propaganda via coordinated social media attacks that rely on humor — it’s hard to take a badly-drawn dog meme seriously — to poke fun at the Kremlin and undermine its online messaging.
