This shit makes no sense. It requires X units of energy now to support basic quality of life for manufacture, services, and consumption. X is constant and proportionate to the number of people, with seasonal variations for weather and holidays.
Just saying, "well now you're going to have to live with X - 10%" only creates a linear energy debt that will have to be made up at some point. What they are saying is that they're artificially reducing energy supply and that reduction is permanent, not indefinite.
