tldr discord company (Chinese funded) is selling the email address's they get from their users to spam/scam/virus email companies without their knowledge or consent.

probably not surprising but figured id report what i have witnessed.

over a year ago i made a new yahoo email account, i never used it for anything and its never received any emails not even spam.

two weeks ago i was spying on some democrat discord servers when i spotted one with a channel that was posting scat pictures. like they were enjoying it, the owner of the server was endorsing it.

i used the new email account to report this to discord through their website reporting function. (email is required to report anything which is stupid in itself)

discord replied saying theyll look into it. also saying they will not email me again to tell me what if anything they will do about it.

of course the server and channel is still doing it to this day so clearly discord doesnt care. no surprise there.

a number of hours after their reply and suddenly my new email is now being spammed by the scammer/virus type junk youd expect in a regularly used email. except only discord company has ever received this email address. never used anywhere else. they must have sold it off themselves.
