Do not discount trickery.
This will work better, cost a little more first time around but only really need a single application early in the season.
I tend towards using biological methods myself. Nematoads, Lacewings, Spinosad, Ladybugs, and Praying Mantis. Combined they keep most pests near zero. I also apply neem meal to my soils so it is present for about 4 months and also insect frass or crab meal because it requires chitinase present to break down which also weakens the exoskeletons of many pests.
