areas just as black within folds of white stripes. This is due to overhead lighting and the shadows it creates. The stars are white, they just look black. What a slide this has become.
I'm no flag maker. But it looks to me like a flag made with a sort of quilted surface in the star field. The white stars are sunken somewhat below the blue field. That's not to say that the lighting itself was not entirely intentional to achieve exactly the black star effect. Had a flash photo been taken from the same camera angle then you would see white stars. That's what I am saying here. They are white and look black.
