Prologue

This essay is a literary analysis of objective intellectual Ayn Rand's magnum opus, Atlas Shrugged (1957), and the important lessons on free market capitalism we learn primarily through the life and times of its protagonist – John Galt. The novel begins with the ongoing question, "Who is John Galt"?

Summary of John Galt

In Ayn Rand's fictional work, Atlas Shrugged, the U.S. economy is slowly decaying under the guidance of Washington, D.C. politicians and bureaucrats. The wealthiest businessmen and entrepreneurs that drive the American economy are slowly beginning to disappear and fade out of their line of work just when they are needed most to prevent or slow down the socialist deconstruction of society…

Rand created Galt to be her Prometheus – the visionary prophet who sacrificed all for the preservation of the civilized world – the free market, capitalistic society. It is through Galt that all of her characters are defined and animated. reflect Galt's unyielding love to produce and venerate only that which is produced by one's own hand through the purity of an independent mind. Galt's genius intellect represents the type of critical thought long since abandoned by the scientists in the novel. All they can do is pervert Veritas (truth) with their scientific inventions slavishly used to promote the omnipotent State that enslaves them. Thisscientific treasonaccording to Ayn Rand makes their pseudo-science obsolete and real science venerated.

John Galt and Donald Trump

In modern day John Galt is a precursor to billionaire and Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump. Like Galt, Trump possesses the economic and entrepreneurial genius that has launched him to orchestrate a multi-billion dollar empire of successful businesses. Like Galt, Trump is a man of principle who stands firm upon promoting the qualities and capabilities of an individual, apart from government intervention.

Like Galt, Trump remains fearless and headstrong in his quest for the Presidency. Trump sticks to his values and political stance even when faced with harsh attacks and constant criticism from Democrats, so-called Conservatives, the media, and even the GOP cowardly Establishment. As with Galt rising in fame, the naysayers and back-stabbers only elevate Trump's popularity in the polls. Both men are bullet-proof in that no matter how many times they make "controversial" statements or are attacked, they remain unscathed and paradoxically only gain more supporters as the slave chains of people's minds are broken by independent, Objectivist thinking. Galt revealing himself on national TV is equivalent to how Trump has captured the hearts of millions of Americans downtrodden by the slavemaster State under the Democrat Socialist Party in Washington, D.C. The message of Galt and Trump to America, to We the People is similar in that they both courageously expose the treasonous condition America has been enslaved under the tyranny of career-politicians and proclaims that America will not last as a nation economically or morally under the disillusion of government greed.

Epilogue

America, We the People must not allow ourselves to continually backslide into decadence. Prometheus has arisen! Atlas has taken his rightful place on stage. Men like Trump and John Galt have held the nation upon their shoulders for too long not to rebel against the crony government. We must wake up and see the vision for greatness Trump seeks to restore back into the heart of this nation, a vision mirrored by John Galt's vision for prosperity under the success of industrial ideas. This election cycle it's time for America stop slouching in mediocrity and rise up to vote for a candidate that will reinvigorate the American legacy as the greatest nation in the History of the World.

Defense Department reviews 'woke' equity chief over derogatory posts about white people

Wing described herself as a "woke administrator" at the Defense Department's education agency.

The Defense Department says it is reviewing an agency diversity officer after the discovery of derogatory online posts about white people attributed to her.

A department spokesperson said officials "are aware of the news reports" concerning Kelisa Wing, the Pentagon's Defense Education Activity Department's chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion officer, Fox News reported Friday.

"The office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness is reviewing this matter," the official said.

Wing has described herself as a "woke administrator" for the Defense Education Activity Department, which oversees military schools for nearly 70,000 children of service members stationed abroad.

She appears to have deleted or deactivated her LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. But in a 2020 tweet captured by Fox, she said she was "exhausted at these white folx [sic]" in meetings.

"I had to stop the session and give Karen the BUSINESS" for saying that black people can be racist too, Wing also said at the time.

Karen is an offensive term describing middle-aged white women.

She referred to white people as "Karen" on several occasions online, and in a different instance she called former President Trump the "whole boy version of a Karen."

Wing's posts came before she was promoted to her position as diversity chief in December 2021, butshe has worked at the Defense Department for 16 years.

Republican senators demand AG Garland give special counsel authority to Hunter Biden prosecutor

The senators said that "evidence seems to be mounting that Hunter Biden committed numerous federal crimes."

Dozens of Republican senators are requesting that Attorney General Merrick Garland give special counsel authority to the U.S. attorney investigating President Biden's son, Hunter Biden.

The senators are reportedly making the demand in letter Monday to Garland.

The 33 senators wrote to Garland that "given the politicization" of the Justice Department under his watch, they are requesting him to grant special counsel protections and authorities to U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss, a Trump appointee.

"There is no way of knowing the entire scope of the investigation, but evidence seems to be mounting that Hunter Biden committed numerous federal crimes, including, but not limited to, tax fraud, money laundering, and foreign-lobbying violations," the senators wrote in the letter, obtained by Fox News.

High-ranking GOP lawmakers – includingSenate Minority Leader Mitch McConnelland Sen. Chuck Grassley – have signed the letter, on which Texas Sen. John Cornyn is the lead writer.

"It is clear that Hunter Biden thrived off of a 'pay to play' culture of access to his father, then Vice President Joe Biden in exchange for financial compensation," the letter states.

Second Donbass republic wants vote on uniting with Russia

Donetsk’s civic chamber urged the head of the republic to hold a referendum on joining Russia soon, following Lugansk’s lead

The Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) must “immediately” hold a “referendum” on joining Russia, its civic chamber said on Monday. The call comes shortly after a similar move was made by the civic chamber of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).

Addressing the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, the chamber said the time for “decisive actions” has come, urging him to hold the vote as soon as possible.

“All of us feel and know for a long time that Donbass is Russia, we have been fighting for this for eight long years. For this, we daily suffer strikes on our homes, streets, hospitals, schools and kindergartens,” the head of the chamber, Aleksander Kofman, said in a statement.

We want the border of the Russian Federation to lie between us and Ukraine! We want to become again a part of one big Motherland – Russia. The people of Donbass deserve it!

Earlier in the day, a similar call was made by the civic chamber of the LPR. It urged the head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik, as well as the local legislature, to hold a referendum on joining Russia as soon as possible.

A similar stance has been set out by the authorities in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson, which is currently controlled by Russian forces. The head of the so-called military-civilian administration, Kirill Stremousov, said the region’s residents “want guarantees that we will become a part of the Russian Federation.”

“Residents of Kherson Region call upon… and want to hold a referendum as soon as possible, because they are afraid that Russia might leave,” Stremousov told RIA Novosti.

Russia sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, citing Kiev’s failure to implement the Minsk agreements, designed to give the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state.

The protocols, brokered by Germany and France, were first signed in 2014. Former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko has since admitted that Kiev’s main goal was to use the ceasefire to buy time and “create powerful armed forces.”

In February 2022, the Kremlin recognized the Donbass republics as independent states and demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join any Western military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked.

Kiev’s war crime claim is ‘a lie’ – Moscow

The Russian president’s spokesman denies allegations by Kiev that Russian troops committed atrocities in northeast Ukraine

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has rejected Ukraine’s claim that Russian troops committed war crimes in parts of the Kharkov region recently reclaimed by Kiev.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Peskov said: “It’s the same scenario as in Bucha. It all goes according to one scenario. It’s a lie,” while pledging that Moscow “will of course defend the truth in this whole story.”

In an interview with Reuters on Friday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky compared the scenes witnessed by Ukrainian troops in the Kharkov region to a “bloody soap opera after Bucha.”

The Ukrainian authorities, as well as Western governments and human rights groups, accused Russian forces of committing war crimes in the town of Bucha near Kiev in early April – something Moscow has vehemently denied.

Zelensky said that “as of today, there are 450 dead people” recovered from mass burial sites in the city of Izium, which was retaken by the Ukrainian military earlier this month.

The president went on to claim that “there are others, separate burials of many people. Tortured people. Entire families in certain territories.”

When asked whether Kiev can prove its claim of war crimes committed by Russian forces, Zelensky said: “there is some evidence, and assessments are being conducted, Ukrainian and international.”

Also on Friday, Oleg Sinegubov, governor of the Kharkov region, told journalists that some of the bodies exhumed in Izyum had their hands tied behind their backs.

Later in the day, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters at a briefing that the mass burial site uncovered in northeast Ukraine is “part, horrifically, of a continuum, an ongoing story.”

The US diplomat also stressed the need for Ukraine and its partners to “build the evidence and document the atrocities that have been committed,” as “in many instances, these amount to war crimes.”

Trump accuses FBI of bad manners

The former US President claims the agents who searched his residence didn’t even bother taking off their shoes in his bedroom

Donald Trump, the 45th US President, has claimed FBI agents violated his constitutional rights and wreaked havoc in his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. The agency searched Trump’s premises in early August in connection with a probe into the former president’s handling of classified documents.

Taking to Truth Social on Sunday, the Republican firebrand said that he would “soon be heading” to Mar-a-Lago to check on the “unnecessary ransacking of rooms and other areas of the house.”

According to a post published on the social media platform, which was launched by Trump in February, the former head of state felt “totally violated” by the law enforcement’s intrusion.

In a string of consecutive messages, Trump accused the agents of violating his Fourth Amendment rights, adding that his estate would “never be the same” after their visit.

“It was ‘ransacked’, and in far different condition than the way I left it,” he lamented.

He also mentioned that the agents who searched his residence “didn’t even take off their shoes in my bedroom.”

Earlier this month, Trump claimed the FBI had purposely scattered documents on the carpet before taking a picture of them to make the former president look sloppy.

“They dropped them, not me — Very deceiving,” he wrote at the time, adding in a separate post: “Perhaps pretending it was me that did it!”

Last month, Trump also accused the agents of leaving the closet of his wife, Melania Trump, in a “mess” and searching his 16-year-old son’s room.

According to a search warrant, the federal agents seized more than 11,000 government documents and photographs during the raid on August 8. Some of the materials recovered are said to be marked “top secret” and some may allegedly concern nuclear weapons.

The court records listed three criminal laws which Trump is suspected of having breached, including the Espionage Act.

Trump, in turn, strongly denies any wrongdoing and insists that the FBI raid was politically motivated.

Children among civilians killed in Ukrainian strike – authorities

Local media outlets, citing eyewitnesses, report that an artillery shell hit a bus stop in Donetsk

At least 13 civilians have lost their lives in a Ukrainian artillery strike on the city of Donetsk, local authorities have said.

Donetsk city administration chief Alexey Kulemzin took to Telegram on Monday, writing: “according to preliminary information, 13 civilians are dead as a result of a punitive strike on Baku Commissars square.”

The official added that the exact number of those injured in the attack is not yet known.

Local media, citing eyewitnesses, has said an artillery shell hit a bus stop.

Speaking to Russia’s Rossiya 24 news channel later in the day, Kulemzin said: “two children are among the dead,” adding that it’s not the first case of minors being killed by Ukrainian strikes in that district.

The territorial defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic, in turn, posted a message on their own Telegram channel, alleging that the Ukrainian military used Western-supplied 155mm howitzers to shell residential areas of Donetsk.

The authorities said infrastructure and apartment blocks came under fire in one of the city’s districts. Local residents have been advised to stay indoors or move “to shelters if necessary.”

According to the Donetsk Territorial Defense, six more people were killed in shelling on Sunday through Monday morning.

Biden reveals how he threatened China over Russia

The US president claims he told his Chinese counterpart that Beijing would pay a heavy price for violating anti-Russia sanctions

US President Joe Biden has said he tried to pressure China early in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, warning President Xi Jinping that it would be a “gigantic mistake” to ignore the West’s anti-Moscow sanctions.

“I said that if you think that Americans and others will continue to invest in China based on your violating the sanctions that have been imposed on Russia, I think you’re making a gigantic mistake, but that’s your decision to make,” Biden said in a CBS News interview aired Sunday night.

Biden issued that warning when he called Xi in March, weeks after the Chinese leader met with Putin on the sidelines of the Winter Olympics on February 8 in Beijing. He claimed that he didn’t intend to threaten China; rather, he wanted to warn Xi of the heavy price that Beijing would pay for violating the sanctions.

Asked whether apparently warming relations between China and Russia might portend a “new, more complicated Cold War,” Biden rejected the notion. He suggested that Beijing has heeded his warning, at least partly. “Thus far, there’s no indication they’ve put forward weapons or other things that Russia has wanted, so uh, well, maybe I shouldn’t say any more.” (Russia never asked China for weapons, at all)

However, Washington and Beijing have clashed repeatedly over Ukraine. China has been a major buyer of Russian exports during the conflict, and Chinese officials have suggested that the US and NATO instigated the crisis by expanding their military alliance onto Moscow’s doorstep.

Xi has said that he told Biden on the March call that the Russia-Ukraine conflict should be brought to an end as soon as possible. He declined to blame Russia for the crisis and suggested that the US and its allies should try to help resolve Moscow’s security concerns to end the fighting.

US swaps prisoners with Taliban

Joe Biden traded jailed ‘drug lord’ Bashir Noorzai for naval veteran ‘hostage’ Mark Frerichs

US President Joe Biden on Monday announced the release of Mark Frerichs, a US Navy veteran who disappeared in Kabul in 2020 while working as a civilian contractor. Meanwhile, the Taliban government of Afghanistan reported the return of Haji Bashir Noorzai, who spent 17 years in American prison on charges of heroin trafficking.

“Today, we have secured the release of Mark Frerichs, and he will soon be home,” Biden said in a statement released by the White House. He thanked “dedicated public servants across our government and other partner governments” for “years of tireless work” to secure the release of Frerichs, who had been in Taliban captivity since January 2020.

Biden did not mention the release of Noorzai, only that negotiating the release of Frerichs “required difficult decisions, which I did not take lightly.”

Meanwhile, the Taliban’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi announced that Frerichs and Noorzai were exchanged at Kabul International Airport.

“We welcome the release of Haji Bashir, an Afghan who spent 17 years in the US,” Muttaqi told reporters, adding that this would “open a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the US and Afghanistan.”

Noorzai was lured to the US, arrested on charges of heroin trafficking, and sentenced to life in federal prison in 2005. The Taliban had outlawed the cultivation of poppies – from which heroin is extracted – before the US invasion in 2001, and did so again after regaining power last year.

The US-backed government collapsed even before the last American troops were out of Afghanistan, causing a frenzied evacuation from the airport in Kabul that ended on August 31, 2021. Biden has refused to recognize the Taliban government and has seized the assets of the Afghan central bank.
