Sheriff Salazar sends a letter to President Biden on the death of migrants
SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar unloaded his frustrations with Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s efforts to stop illegal immigration in a letter addressed to President Joe Biden.
This is Sheriff Salazar’s third letter to President Biden asking for help. Salazar, a Democrat, tells Biden in the letter that he is disappointed by the U.S. government when it comes to smuggling.
“I’m angry, Mr. President. I’m angry that I could not stop this massive loss of life in my county. I’m angry that, despite my best efforts to appeal to your administration, I have not received a response,” Salazar writes in the letter.
He then goes on to write, “I’m disappointed that a perceived lack of action on the part of the US government has allowed the governor of my state to use this issue as one big campaign stunt. I have watched as Governor Greg Abbott has painted this humanitarian crisis as some sort of enemy invasion.”
It’s obvious Sheriff Salazar is frustrated.
He starts with, “I am reaching out to you for a third time and requesting assistance.”
Salazar finishes the letter with a plea to President Biden to meet with him and other Texas sheriffs to find solutions to the immigration issue.
Salazar says he and other Democrats worked hard to get Biden elected but that he and other Democrats are losing faith in Biden to help with this issue.
