yes, it is all lighting.

there are two sources of light left and right to minimize shadows in the face, its called a "butterfly" illumination, resulting in two catchlights in the face.

also he has blue eyes and the pupills are very big because no light enters from the front. also notice the depths and shadows in this pic are strong so you cant differ blue and black really.

ehm no. I am a professional photographer, you talk out of your ass.

first of all, the "lighting" here is very low, so the camera is mounted on a tripod to go for 1/60 of a second exposure time.

then the two lighting sources dont make bright daylight but only a very soft illumination.

then the human eye sees less than the camera on a long exposure time.

so big pupills and soft light sources are no contradiction. you can place a catchlight directly in the subjects eye and still have big pupills.
