Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy to Martha's Vineyard Residents - Your 'sips of wine' liberalism led to 50 migrant dead in San Antonio
Texas GOP Rep. Chip Roy is criticizing Martha's Vineyard for its handling of 50 migrants sent there from Texas, arguing the political policies and lifestyles of residents of the affluent, liberal island off Massachusetts are leading to rise of cartels and the deaths of border-crossing migrants at their hands, like the 53 who recently died in San Antonio. "Dear Martha’s Vineyard: We in Texas recently had one group of 50 migrants in San Antonio to manage," Roy tweeted Sunday. "Only, they were all dead in a truck at the hands of cartels moving them for profit fueled by an administration you support between sips of wine & photo-ops." Two Texas men have been indicted in the June incident in San Antonio on charges of transporting and conspiring to transport immigrants illegally resulting in death and injury. However, there does not appear to be any reports the men are connected to a larger cartel. The victims were found June 27 in the back of a sweltering, un-air conditioned tractor-trailer.
The migrants arrived last week in Martha's Vineyard in planes sent by Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis. State and local officials led efforts to ferry them to a military base in Cape Cod, arguing the island lacked the adequate resource to help the new arrivals.
