Curious Article, House Republicans Planning to Investigate Chamber of Commerce?

September 19, 2022 | Sundance

An unusual article in The Intercept is noted with the following headline: “House Republicans Planning to Investigate The Chamber of Commerce if They Take Majority.” The article is framed around the statements of an unnamed congressman, who appears –from the sourcing inference– to come from the House Judiciary Committee.

If you have followed the deep political weeds, you know the CoC is the anti-MAGA element within the America-First economic battle. However, it is also true the CoC and the Washington DC UniParty members they feed with lobbying dollars are peas and carrots, this includes the entire republican establishment apparatus.

The republican party investigating the CoC is never going to happen. It would be a move akin to Adam Schiff investigating the origin of Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

The CoC is not only an organization made up of lobbyists for Wall Street, but the members within it are also the close personal friends of just about every influential GOP politician.

The framework for the investigation, as written in the article, surrounds the leftist Environmental Social Governance (ESG) outlook of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which is factually accurate. The CoC is indeed an organization that is ‘all-in’ to position themselves for the benefits of climate change in the corporate sphere. If there is money to be made from ESG economics, the CoC is the lobbying firm shaping legislation toward that benefit.

However, the CoC is too entrenched with republican party apparatus to ever have their agenda challenged by the “republican” politicians in DC. So, what exactly is going on here? A MAGA-minded republican within the House Judiciary Committee wants to investigate the CoC?

In a way I could envision someone like Jim Jordan (Ohio) wanting to do exactly that. However, the internal republican elements in opposition to that goal would, unfortunately, still be too strong to allow something like a congressional investigation to take place. Therefore, the article as written is best viewed as an agenda surfacing from within the republican ranks carrying some alternative purpose.

Despite the chamber positioning, opposing ESG is a no-brainer for the conservative base. Any and all attacks against the ESG agenda are unifying efforts that bring conservatives and MAGA-minded America First voters

Unfortunately, that political reality also underscores the usefulness of ESG opposition as a political tool, to the professionally republican apparatus. If you have followed the way DeceptiCons operate, now is the time to put on your Machiavellian hat.

The MAGA movement is -like the Tea Party that triggered it- essentially, at its core, a movement based on America-First economics. The goals and objectives of the multinational corporations are against the interests of MAGA. Hence, most corporate-aligned republicans (the establishment, per se’) are not supportive of the national MAGA movement. Corporate republicans are paid by the interests that MAGA supporters despise.

There is one potential 2024 candidate who has pushed back against the ESG effort, at a state level. Putting aside the substance of the pushback, a political talking point containing a history of action against the ESG effort is an arrow in the quiver of the Florida governor. Unfortunately, at the same time as the ESG concern has become a point of policy reference, the Florida governor is taking massive amounts of money from the same people who benefit from ESG.

So, the question becomes: with DeSantis becoming increasingly visible as a corporate republican, is the identified anti-ESG outline of the article a way to enhance the America-First bonafide’s of DeSantis, by creating a unifying economic platform position?

The anti-ESG position would be a way to deflect from being a corporate republican. In the aggregate this approach would diminish the concern of being a purchased corporate republican by giving the illusion of alignment with America First.

(The Intercept) – REPUBLICANS PLAN TO launch a variety of investigations into the U.S. Chamber of Commerce…

The lessons of the Tea Party being corrupted in 2011 and 2012 (collage reference below), through fraud and deceit by the republican establishment, should be the reference point for reviewing any DC centered effort to confront the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

“Unite the Right” is code speak for let your guard down. We need to remove a lot more corporate republicansbefore we can lower our cynical guard….

…Battered Conservative, No More!

Insanity Wrap: 'Beyond Meat' Exec Tastes the OTHER Other White Meat

Stephen Green September 20, 2022

That “Beyond Meat” executive tasting the most forbidden flesh of all has to be this week’s big crazy. Welcome to Insanity Wrap, an entire week’s worth of lefty nuttiness wrapped up in one easy-to-swallow medicated news capsule.

Plus:

‘Save Water, Shower with a Friend’ no longer just a naughty joke

The real reason Joe Biden had to sit in the cheap seats at Elizabeth’s funeral

The Nancy Pelosi photoshop you’ll hate me for

This Is Not a Sane World, Exhibit #1,000,006

And the kicker was pretty much inevitable: Ontario school DEFENDS biological male teacher who wears giant prosthetic breasts to class.

Oh, Canada.

Is That ‘Beyond Meat’ Guy a Cannibal?

“Well, Clarice. Have the lambs stopped screaming?” (Mugshot courtesy of local authorities.)

Los Angeles-based Beyond Meat COO, Doug Ramsey, arrested for biting driver’s nose after Arkansas football game

Before we get started, a question: Have you ever encountered a ribeye trying to pass itself off as a rutabaga?

Of course not. But people just won’t stop trying to perform dietary alchemy by transmogrifying lame vegetable matter into faux meat. It can be as simple as one of those flabby tofu patties or as scientifically involved as Beyond Meat or Impossible Foods or I Can’t Believe It’s Not Slaughter.

But they keep trying because even people who don’t want meat want meat.

Because meat.

But, if you’ll allow me to paraphrase e e cummings, there is some meat I will not eat.

People meat, Soylent or otherwise:

Doug Ramsey, 53, the chief operations officer of Beyond Meat, was taken into police custody Saturday on charges of terroristic threatening and third-degree battery, Fox 24 reported. The attack occurred at a parking garage near Razorback Stadium following a University of Arkansas victory over Missouri State.

A police officer responded to the scene Gate 15 over a reported disturbance where two men were found with bloody faces, the report said.

I thought Fox was quite charitable, describing Ramsey as a “food executive.” Or maybe it’s just wrong, like calling a counterfeiter a “freelance Treasury worker.”

Anyway, there was a road rage incident, and Ramsey (allegedly!) got out of his car, smashed the other guy’s window, and bit the Subaru driver, “ripping the flesh off the tip of the nose,” according to police.

That ain’t vegetable matter, Doug, no matter how you slice it.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not saying that Doug Ramsey is actually a cannibal.

But if he is, it’s only by a nose.

=•Don Lemon Gets Humiliated After Suggesting the Royal Family Should Pay Reparations==

Matt Margolis

Recently demoted CNN host Don Lemon was caught like a deer in the headlights Monday night when he asked British royal commentator Hillary Fordwich whether the British royal family should pay reparations, claiming that some in the United Kingdom “want to be paid back.”

“England is facing rising costs of living, a living crisis, austerity budget cuts, and so on. And then you have those who are asking for reparations for colonialism, and they’re wondering, you know, $100 billion, $24 billion here and there, $500 million there,” Lemon explained. “Some people want to be paid back, and members of the public are wondering, ‘Why are we suffering when you are, you know, you have all of this vast wealth?’ Those are legitimate concerns.”

Her response was epic. After initially giving the impression that she agreed with Lemon, she schooled him royally.

“Well, I think you’re right about reparations in terms of if people want it, though, what they need to do is you always need to go back to the beginning of a supply chain,” Fordwich replied. “Where was the beginning of the supply chain? That was in Africa, and when it crossed the entire world, when slavery was taking place, which was the first nation in the world that abolished slavery? The first nation world to abolish it, it was started by William Wilberforce, was the British. In Great Britain, they abolished slavery.”

She continued, “Two thousand naval men died on the high seas trying to stop slavery. Why? Because the African kings were rounding up their own people, they had them on cages waiting in the beaches. No one was running into Africa to get them. And I think you’re totally right.”

The look on Lemon’s face was priceless. Fordwich succeeded in agreeing with him, although for different reasons than he was obviously suggesting. And she wasn’t done with the lesson.

“If reparations need to be paid, we need to go right back to the beginning of that supply chain and say, ‘Who was rounding up their own people and having them handcuffed in cages?’ Absolutely. That’s where they should start. And maybe, I don’t know, the descendants of those families where they died at the, in the high seas trying to stop the slavery, that those families should receive something too, I think, at the same time.”

After she was done, Lemon sat there, stunned for several seconds, before responding, “It’s an interesting discussion, Hillary, Thank you very much, I appreciate it.”

I could watch that over and over. No wonder he’s been demoted.

Don't Believe the Hype: Biden's Unpopularity Will Absolutely Be a Drag on Democrats in November

Stacey Lennox

While some pollsters show the Republican lead in the generic ballot shrinking away, other polls make it difficult to understand how most Americans will vote for anyone supporting the Biden agenda. According to a new poll from Rasmussen, only 28% of likely voters think the country is heading in the right direction. This week’s finding is down two points from a week ago. On Sunday, an NBC News poll had a similar result, with only 27% of respondents saying the country was on the right track. The latest YouGov poll found 25%.

Meanwhile, Rasmussen found that 65% of voters believe the nation is headed down the wrong track, up three points from a week ago. Rasmussen closed this survey before President Biden’s 60 Minutes interview, which was an unmitigated disaster. The president committed U.S. troops to war against China if it invaded Taiwan, contradicting longstanding U.S. policy, among other blunders. He also had no honest answer to the inflation plaguing the country, using month-over-month numbers to tell Americans it isn’t as bad as they think. Anyone who has been grocery shopping knows he is lying.

So while the generic ballot seems to be shrinking as undecideds start to make their selection, it is hard to believe Democrats will cover the gap. Voters are less happy with the direction of the nation than they were a year ago and no more pleased than they were with President Biden. Like it or not, he is the leader of the party, and he is setting the direction for the country.

The New York Times is already wondering aloud if the majority of polls will be as wrong as they were in 2016 and 2020. As Nate Cohn notes, the polls look eerily similar to the last two elections, when most polls overestimated Democrat leads. When he constructed a model that built in the previous polling error, Cohn concluded: The apparent Democratic edge in Senate races in Wisconsin, North Carolina and Ohio would evaporate.

The bad news for Cohn is that the Democrats’ comfortable leads in Arizona and Pennsylvania are evaporating. The latest poll from Trafalgar Group shows incumbent Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) is now clinging to a 1.2% advantageover Republican challenger Blake Masters. In the Arizona gubernatorial race, Trafalgar shows Republican Kari Lake with more than a four-point lead over the Democrat challenger. It is hard to believe Lake does not have coattails sufficient to push Masters over the line.

Trafalgar shows the Pennsylvania Senate race is neck and neck between Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz. Fetterman increased his public events, and voters are starting to see how badly a stroke earlier in the campaign cycle impaired his communication ability. Recent interviews also displayed some of Fetterman’s more radical policies, like support for releasing one-third of Pennsylvania inmates. His once double-digit lead is gone.

As one of the most accurate pollsters for the last several cycles, Trafalgar also has North Carolina at +3 for the Republican in North Carolina’s Senate race and +5 in Ohio, indicating the leads may have already evaporated in those states. Trafalgar and two other pollsters have Republican Herschel Walker leading in Georgia, and the RCP average shows Republican Adam Lexalt up one point in Nevada.

As most likely voters are unhappy with the country’s direction, all of the Senate candidates would do well to tie their competitors to President Biden’s deeply unpopular agenda. Rasmussen also showsthat 84% of likely voters are concerned about the economy, including 55% who are very concerned. Sixty-two percent also believe they will be paying more for gas in six months than they are now.

As one now grizzled old Democrat strategist once said, “It’s the economy, stupid.” Biden’s economic and energy policy is bankrupting middle America. Republicans should beat that drum loud and clear for the next 49 days.

The Morning Briefing:It's Like Biden Is Trying to Be the Dems' November Albatross

Stephen Kruiser

Seven weeks from today, this beleaguered country can take its first steps towards wresting control of the asylum away from the inmates. Opinions about what might actually transpire on election day are more all over the place than the moods of a hormonal teenager. I said that we’re at the point in the election cycle where it’s possible to find a poll that supports any position you want to take.

The Democrats’ late-summer flashes of optimism are now yielding to the harshest reality they’ll have to face this fall: their candidates can’t run away from Joe Biden.

For reasons I can’t fathom but won’t complain about, they aren’t sticking the old boy in the basement to keep him from embarrassing them in public. Biden’s recent appearance on 60 Minutes was filled with “drunk, crazy uncle” moments, like his bizarro spin on the crippling inflation that he’s responsible for.

As Robert wrote, it got even weirder when Biden was attempting to defend his mental aptitude:

Biden’s false bravado was bad enough, but he wasn’t finished. He continued: “I — I think that, you know — I don’t — when I sit down with our NATO allies and keep ’em together, I don’t have ’em saying, ‘Wait a minute, w— how — how old are you? What are you — what say?’ You know, I mean, it’s a matter of, you know, that old expression: The proof of the pudding’s in the eating. I mean, I — I — I respect the fact that people would say, you know, ‘You’re old.’ And — but I think it relates to h— how much energy you have, and whether or not the job you’re doing is one consistent with what any person of any age would be able to do.”

I think when he sits down with our NATO allies they spend all of their time thinking that they should pick up Rosetta Stone Mandarin and get ready for their new Chinese overlords.

It’s not just that he is an addled trainwreck of a human being, of course, but that he and his handlers have been dousing the economy and the Constitution in too-expensive gasoline and lighting it all on fire.

This is all happening because of the stink at the top of the Democratic party. They can’t Silkwood Shower away the havoc that Joe Biden continues to wreak on the good citizens of this country.

Biden may not actually be on the ballot this year, but his underwater agenda is. Voters know that even if they can’t get him out of office, they can hamstring his wicked commie ways.

Seven weeks.
