Investigators Reveal the Cause of the Crash That Killed Rep. Jackie Walorski

On Aug. 3, Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) died in a car accident, along with Zachery Potts of the St. Joseph County Republican Party and Walorski’s Communications Director Emma Thomson, who were in the same car. Edith Schmucker, the driver of the vehicle that collided with the SUV Walorski was riding in, died as well.

Police have announced the cause of the accident that killed Walorski and three others. The Washington Post reports that the car in which Walorski was traveling and which Potts was driving was attempting to pass another vehicle on a two-lane highway when it struck Schmucker’s vehicle.

“The sheriff’s office released statements from the county coroner ruling the deaths of Walorski and the others as accidental from injuries suffered in the crash,” reports the Post. “Investigators blamed the crash on Potts for ‘driving left of center with a contributing factor of excessive speed.’”

A witness said that Potts attempted to pass a flatbed truck when it struck another vehicle. Data from the vehicle’s airbag control module shows thatPotts was going 77 mph at the time of the accident. Investigators also found no apparent mechanical issues with the SUV or evidence that anyone in the vehicle was using a cell phone at the time of the crash.

“All of the evidence and information gathered is consistent with someone attempting to pass another vehicle on a two-lane roadway,” the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Indiana Republicans chose 38-year-old businessman Rudy Yakym to replace Walorski on November’s ballot, which will include the special election to fill the rest of the current term as well as the general election for the next Congress. Yakym carries the endorsement of Walorski’s widower, Dean Swihart.

Rep. Matt Gaetz: ‘My Son Hunter’ Is ‘Compelling, Gripping Art’ and ‘Ammunition’ for ‘Culture War’

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) praised My Son Hunter as “compelling, gripping art” providing “ammunition” in the context of America’s culture war on Tuesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.

Gaetz lamented what he said was an absence of dramatic films with right-wing themes. He said My Son Hunter, directed by Robert Davi and produced by the Unreported Story Society, begins filling this political void within culture and entertainment.

“I expected a documentary, and I don’t know why, but it seems as though the right has really embraced the documentary format, oftentimes to the exclusion of creating compelling, gripping art,” he said. “We are in a culture war, right now, and the ammunition in that culture war can’t simply be our words and our beliefs, we have to actually have pieces of culture that are gripping and that draw people and that compel people and move people and persuade people, and this was, I thought, a great example of that from Breitbart.”

Gaetz speculated that My Son Hunter may be a step towards creating a new ecosystem of entertainment separate from the status quo of leftist-dominated companies and industries.

He remarked, “I started thinking, as I was watching the movie, is this really the front-end of the wave to creating a new ecosystem where there is collaboration and real effort put into not just the right substance of the argument, but the right aesthetic, the right musical score?”

My Son Hunter may be an impetus for talented right-leaning artists to coordinate and create alternative content dissenting from political orthodoxies pushed by the largest entertainment companies, Gaetz considered.

“I mean — oh my gosh — the performance you guys got out of your lead was, I thought, really a showcase opportunity in the movie, and I hope it is,” he stated. “I really hope that this inspires other people who have a talent that you might not normally align with politics, but might be entertainment and movies, music, that people could think of ways to connect with one another.”

He continued, “Gen Z is the most socially interconnected generation in all of human history, and so we ought to use pieces like the My Son Hunter movie as a springboard to try to create those connections and really try to lower our shoulder in this culture war fully armed, and that’s what I think the movie does.”

Gaetz credited My Son Hunter with not being overtly political, adding hope that the film would provide a model for more dissident films with broad appeal.

“So often, the stuff that we do in this space on the right has a very community theater feature to it, and and that was not this,” he shared. “This has got the blockbuster feeling, you know, a lot of people went out to watch Maverick, and what was unique about that is that there weren’t these cringe moments from the left. It was like it was almost uniquely kind of devoid of the barrage of politics that the left bakes into a lot of their blockbuster works.”

He concluded, “The unapologetic embrace of that from the right in My Son Hunter is something that that we need to see more of.”

Report: Mitch McConnell Turns Optimistic Republicans Could Win Senate Majority

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has reportedly changed his mind on Republican chances of retaking control of the Senate in the midterm elections.

Previously in doubt that Sen. Rick Scott’s (R-FL) plan at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) would yield positive results, McConnell was cautiously optimistic Republicans will gain the majority, the Chamber of Commerce told Axios.

McConnell attended a closed-door meeting on Monday at the chamber, where he said Republicans’ chances of retaking the Senate have improved. McConnell has previously claimed it was more likely Republicans would retake the House than the Senate.

McConnell’s words are notable because he has publicly opposed Scott’s plan of defeating Democrats in 2022.

Scott’s plan entailed spending early money in the Senate races, thus “defining” Democrats early and impacting the media’s polling.

With less money in the bank after the financial investment, McConnell suggested Scott should use his personal resources to further aid Republican candidates. McConnell and his wife were worth about $60 million in 2018.

Scott’s early investment to define Democrats seems to be paying off. Polling across the board, swing state races have improved in recent weeks. Races in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada have tightened within the margin of error. In Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Republican candidates still hold leads.

But in Arizona, Trump-endorsed Blake Masters, who is campaigning against establishment Sen. Mark Kelly (R-AZ), is lagging in the polls. A McConnell-backed super PAC pulled nearly $8 million in support of Masters. That has left Peter Thiel, MAGA billionaire investor, to convince the fund to recommit money to the race. McConnell has attacked Theil for not donating more money to Masters’ campaign.

McConnell’s attack on Thiel may be a cover for his feud with Scott, who has called out McConnell directly for misaligning his political agenda with the NRSC, accusing him of McConnell’s GOP wing of “trash-talking” MAGA Republicans who McConnell allegedly does not favor — like Blake Masters.

On Monday, Breitbart News reported McConnell will fundraise with Masters on Wednesday in Arizona. Last week, Sentinal Action Fund announced a $5 million investment in the race.

One of Mandela Barnes’ Two Active Police Endorsements Never Endorsed Him

Wisconsin Democrat candidate for the U.S. Senate Mandela Barnes announced last week he was endorsed by just two active police officers, but one of the officers has denied he endorsed the “defund the police” Democrat.

La Crosse County Sheriff’s Capt. John Siegel’s name still shows up on some of the initial reports of Barnes endorsements.

“I do not,” Siegel told Wisconsin Right Nowabout whether he plans to endorse Barnes. “I have not endorsed anybody. I spent most of my day Friday trying to get a hold of people asking how did this happen.”

Deputy Sheriff Malik Frazier (Racine, WI) and Siegel were the only two active law enforcement officers who Barnes claimed had endorsed him. In the state of Wisconsin, 13,400 law enforcement officers are currently on the job.

Siegel spoke to Wisconsin Right Now:

“I am not on the list. I was mistakenly added…” Siegel said. “…I found out on Friday that I was on his endorsement list, and I was not supposed to be on his endorsement list. I talked with one of his staffers and agreed to talk with them when they were in town sometime, which I’ve done with everybody. They said there was a mistake within the clerical part of things. Somehow I got added to the list.”

Barnes’ list of police endorsements also included seven retired or former police officers. Barnes has now published an updated list of endorsements that total a grand total of 15 officers, but Siegel’s name has been removed.

Spokesman for Senator Ron Johnson’s (R-WI) campaign Alec Zimmerman said in a press release that Barnes “has been lying about his positions and now he’s lying about who supports him.”

“This election is about who you can trust,” he said. “Mandela Barnes is hiding from his extreme support for defunding the police, releasing half the prison population, and abolishing ICE. Now he’s hoping voters won’t pay attention to his lies as he tries to play cover up.”

Barnes is one of the most radical candidates of the 2022 cycle. He has pushed for defunding “over-bloated” police departments and allowing felons to retain the right to vote. He also believes police do not prevent crimes from occurring.

“Police don’t prevent crimes from happening,” Barnes falsely stated on Real Talk with Henry Sanders. “We don’t live in a surveillance state, nor would you want to.”

Barnes’ condemnation of law enforcement follows his statement in a 2018 video that “reducing prison populations is now sexy.”

Barnes, challenging Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, is running for Senate, where crime is a major issue. According to a MacIver Institute, between 2019 and 2020, murders increased62 percent, and violent crime rose 8.85 percent in Wisconsin.

The crime wave appears to personally worry Barnes, who is Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Barnes has “averaged more than 13½ hours of security protection a day — including weekdays, weekends and holidays — at a daily cost to the state of $660 for patrol officers’ wages. That’s more than 10 times the number of hours as his predecessor.”

Polling shows Barnes and Johnson are in a tight race. The latest survey shows Barnes up one, following polling last week that revealed Johnson was leading by one. Just one month ago, Barnes was leading Johnson by a substantial margin.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Fortune Has Been Cut in Half This Year Thanks to His Metaverse Obsession

Mark Zuckerberg’s insistence on pivoting Facebook (now known as Meta) to focus on a digital metaverse appears to be costing him dearly, with his fortune dropping by $71 billion, or about half his overall wealth, this year alone.

Bloomberg reports that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg may be regretting his pivot towards the metaverse as his fortune diminishes hugely. While every U.S. tech mogul has seen some of their wealth erased, Zuckerberg has been affected more than most with his fortune being cut in half dropping by $71 billion, the biggest loss among the world’s richest people according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Zuckerberg’s net worth of $55.9 billion now ranks him at the 20th spot among global billionaires, his lowest placement since 2014 behind three Waltons and two members of the Koch family.

Less than two years ago, Zuckerberg was worth $106 billion and ranked among an elite group of billionaires with only Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates placing above him in terms of personal wealth. In September 2021, Zuckerberg’s own worth reached $142 billion when Facebook shares reached as high as $382.

A month later, Zuckerberg rebranded Facebook as Meta and announced that the company would be focusing on building a digital metaverse. It has been largely downhill for Zuckerberg and the company since then as he fails to convince many that working, socializing, and living in a digital world via VR headsets is the future of the internet.

In February, Facebook revealed no growth in monthly users which triggered a historic collapse in its stock price and cut Zuckerberg’s fortune by $31 billion. Facebook’s app Instagram has also been attempting to bet on Reels, its TikTok competitor, despite it being worth less in advertising revenue and many users complaining about the app’s pivot towards video.

The company’s investment in the metaverse has also had a negative effect on stock price according to Laura Martin, senior internet analyst at Needham & Co. Zuckerberg himself has admitted that the project will lose a “significant” amount of money in the next three to five years.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Takes Commanding Lead over Beto O’Rourke in Governor’s Race

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has a commanding lead over his Democrat challenger Robert Francis O’Rourke, a UTTyler/Dallas Morning News survey released this week found.

The survey asked respondents who they would support in the Lone Star State’s governor’s race. Overall, 47 percent said they would back Abbott, compared to 38 percent who said the same for O’Rourke, giving the Republican a nine-point lead.

However, the governor’s lead expands into the double-digits among voters who are more certain. In that category, Abbott garners 50 percent of the vote, compared to 39 percent for O’Rourke:

Abbott also holds the edge with white voters, women, and parents, while O’Rourke holds the edge with black voters and Latinos — although Abbott only falls four points behind among Latino voters.

Further, 54 percent trust Abbott to keep his campaign promises at least “a fair amount” if he is reelected, compared to 49 percent who said the same for O’Rourke.

The survey also asked respondents who they believe will do better handling specific issues. Most believe Abbott will do a better job reducing crime (45 percent to O’Rourke’s 31 percent), securing the border (48 percent to 24 percent), handling the electrical grid (37 percent to 35 percent), improving the economy (43 percent to 32 percent) and improving schools (37 percent to 35 percent). O’Rourke has a one-point advantage in the belief that he will do a better job “bringing people together.”

The survey was taken September 6-13, 2022, among 1,268 registered voters and has a +/- 2.8 percent margin of error.

More recently, O’Rourke has focused less on the issues that Texans deem the most important, focusing largely on gun control and abortion, contending Abbott is making people “less safe” as well as “killing Texas women.”

Graham: I Want Somebody Outside of Politics Looking at Hunter Biden Like They Looked at Trump

Tuesday on FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) criticized the investigation and the media for how both were handling the Hunter Biden laptop saga.

Graham called for the investigation to follow the standard for former President Donald Trump when he was accused of colluding with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election.

“I believe that you should have somebody looking at Hunter Biden other than a Delaware prosecutor,” he said. “We’re having a prosecutor in the guy’s home state. The prosecutor is a fine fellow, but can you imagine what the left would do if I suggested we should not have a special counsel in the Mueller investigation? We had a guy. It worked.”

“What I am saying is, given all the evidence coming out about Hunter Biden – the laptop is real,” Graham continued. “Every media outlet in the country suppressed the story, including social media. The laptop is real. They said it wasn’t. I want somebody outside of politics, Delaware politics, looking at Hunter Biden like they looked at Trump. That’s not unfair.”

EXCLUSIVE: Internal NRSC Poll Shows Mike Lee With Massive Lead Over Evan McMullin

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has an internal poll showing Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee with a double-digit lead over his Independent opponent Evan McMullin, the Daily Caller has learned.

The polling memo, first obtained by the Caller, shows Lee with a 51-34% lead over McMullin. The Washington Post published an opinion piece by Jennifer Rubin, citing polls that show Lee’s lead over McMullin as much closer. The piece cited a Deseret News poll released in July that showed Lee with a 41% to 36% lead.

The Post also mentioned an internal McMullin campaign poll memo from Impact Research, shared exclusively with the Post, that said “Among likely voters in Utah, McMullin receives 47% of the vote while Lee gets 46%, and just 7% of the vote remains undecided.” (RELATED: ‘Based Mike Lee’ Twitter Account Actually Run By Sen. However, the NRSC’s internal polling shows otherwise.

“Mike Lee holds a commanding lead over Evan McMullin. Fifty-one percent of likely voters chose Senator Lee compared to only 34% who chose the Independent challenger. The bottom-line is simple – barring some unforeseen dramatic event, the current dynamic of the race will continue and Senator Lee will be re-elected this November,” the obtained NRSC polling memo states.

This survey was conducted by OnMessage Inc. in Utah by telephone interviews. The interviews were conducted from Sept. 13-15, 2022. The survey consists of 700 likely voters and was “stratified to reflect historical voter trends.” The margin of error is plus or minus 3.70%.

The Caller contacted McMullin’s campaign about the polling to which his campaign manager Andrew Roberts said, “If Mike Lee and his party bosses actually believed this poll, they would stop spending millions in special interest dollars on panicked false attack ads.”
