Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Responds to Criticism of His Transfer of Illegal Aliens to Massachusetts

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has come under fire for his transfer of illegal aliens from Texas to Massachusetts, Martha’s Vineyard. The Lawfare operatives within the leftist open-border community appear to be targeting DeSantis over technical elements in the Florida law he used to transfer 50 alien arrivals.

The legal maneuver being deployed to target the Florida governor, seems centered around his authority being limited to the movement of aliens who traveled to, or were residing in, Florida at the time of their transfer – as constructed in the Florida law used to authorize the use of taxpayer funding for his action. {LINK} As the argument is made, if the aliens were never actually in Florida, their legal transport would not be covered by the FL legislative authority that provided for their removal.

Today, during a press conference to announce state sales tax relief, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis fired back at those who are targeting him. WATCH:

The transport of the alien arrivals to Martha’s Vineyard was a great way to bring attention to the national border crisis.

The Texas Sheriff Investigating DeSantis Is Under Fire for a Botched Murder Investigation

Bexar County, Texas, Sheriff Javier Salazar is investigating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for flying migrants to Martha’s Vineyard and interrupting brunch and tennis matches on the tony island. The immigrants in question left Bexar County for Florida and were then sent to the liberal paradise.

WESH reported Salazar’s announcement at a Monday presser:

“The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into the migrants that were lured from the Migrant Resource Center, located in Bexar County, TX, and flown to Florida, where they were ultimately left to fend for themselves in Martha’s Vineyard, MA,” the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office tweeted. “Additionally, we are working with private attorneys who are representing the victims, as well as advocacy organizations regarding this incident.”

He also made allegations of migrants being lured under false pretenses.

National Review points out that Salazar does not actually have any crimes to investigate and has admitted that fact. Of course, Salazar is a Democrat and is enjoying some praise and notoriety from the mainstream media and the social media mob.

However, two families in Bexar County are calling for the Texas Rangers to investigate a shooting case they say Salazar and his office mishandled in 2019. Television station KSAT notes that the shooting occurred in Boerne and involved two girls and their mother. In 2019, the coroner ruled that the case was double murder and suicide. Salazar continued to investigate the matter before declaring it incomplete and designating it as a cold case.

The families claim that they have heard nothing from Salazar’s office since 2020 and have had to make their case through the media. The station quoted Joseph Hoelscher, an attorney for one family, as saying: “[Sheriff Salazar has] inflicted more pain on this family than anyone else other than whoever it was who killed their daughters,” One of the families has asked Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to assign the Rangers to the case.

The Bexar County declined an interview with KSAT but released the following statement:

“We have not seen the letter submitted by the Bribiescas Family to the Attorney General’s Office, this case remains ongoing with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, there are pending items the investigator assigned to this case has had difficulty obtaining through attempts with the retained attorney, including difficulty making contact with Mr. Hoelscher. The assigned investigator will continue to devote his efforts until every facet of this investigation has been completed, in order to provide closure for the families of Nichol Olsen, Alexa Montez and London Bribiescas.”

On Monday, Hoelscher said “He’s gone so far as to attack my client and myself personally, claiming that we’re money hungry… We believed based on all of our interactions with Salazar and the Sheriff’s Office, that they’re intentionally withholding an outcome in this investigation to punish this family.” He opined that Salazar was trying to distract from mistakes made on the case.

If Salazar has not been able to make headway on a case that has been open since 2019 and is continuing to leave grieving families in limbo, what business does he have investigating DeSantis? If he wants to be true to his oath, he should save the grandstanding until after he has solved the deaths of two little girls and their mother and brought those families some closure.

‘Send Us Back to New Jersey’: John Fetterman Incoherent Again After 5 Minute Speech

Democrat Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman once again appeared incoherent after giving a five-minute speech in Indiana County.

Similar to his previous mishaps, Fetterman again confused Washington D.C. with New Jersey as he concluded his speech with a call for the voters to send him to the nation’s capital.

“Eliminate the filibuster, get things done,” he struggled to say.

After an awkward pause in which he appeared slightly confused, Fetterman then said, “Send us back to New Jersey. Send me to D.C. for you.”

Several members of the audience could be heard chuckling upon hearing him utter New Jersey.

The speech comes after the Fetterman campaign has refused to release the results of his latest cognitive test, which has appeared to have declined following his stroke earlier this year. As Breitbart News profiled:

An article from the Inquirer explains that Fetterman’s campaign claims that the candidate for the United States Senate in Pennsylvania has taken a cognitive test, the results of which allegedly reveal that his brain is functioning normally for an adult of his age.

The Philadelphia Inquirer did not, however, receive any documentation of the results of his cognitive test. Nor did they inform the media who administered and scored the test.

The article explains that the Fetterman campaign “did not provide any documentation of the results, or make available to the media the speech therapist who administered the tests.” The cognitive assessment of the Democrat candidate comes after he suffered a stroke in May.

After dodging a debate challenge from his opponent, celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz, for weeks, Fetterman finally agreed to debate Oz on October 25 after his poll numbers began to slip and liberal commentators warned his hiding could cost him what once appeared like assured victory.

Last week, the Fetterman campaign issued a “wake-up call” after learning that the Oz campaign has been outspending them in television ads.

“I am writing with a wake-up call,” Fetterman campaign manager Brendan McPhillips wrote. “In the last three weeks alone, Republicans have spent nearly $12 million dollars — significantly outspending us and out-communicating on the airwaves. We cannot allow this to continue unabated.”

24 Attorneys General Sign Letter Warning Visa to Drop Plans for Tracking Gun Sales

Twenty-four Republican attorneys general sent a letter to Visa, Mastercard, and American Express Tuesday warning them to drop plans to code and compile gun sales in America.

Breitbart News reported that the credit card companies were under pressure from New York Democrats — including New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) — to recategorize gun sales so they could be flagged.

On September 10, 2022, Visa caved to Democrat pressure and agreed to recategorize gun sales, giving them a special code so they would stand out from other sporting goods or general merchandise purchases.

Mastercard and American Express capitulated to Democrat demands as well.

In a letter dated September 20, 2022, and addressed to the CEOs of Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, 24 attorneys general said in part:

The new code will not protect public safety. Categorizing the constitutionally protected right to purchase firearms unfairly singles out law-abiding merchants and consumers alike. First, efforts to track and monitor sales at gun stores would only result in vague and misleading information. This categorization would not recognize the difference, for example, between the purchase of a gun safe and a firearm. Nor would it capture firearm purchases made at department stores, resulting in arbitrarily disparate treatment of “gun store” merchants and consumers.

More importantly, purposefully tracking this information can only result in its misuse, either unintentional or deliberate. Creating and tracking this data only matters if your institutions are considering using that information to take further, harmful action—like infringing upon consumer privacy, inhibiting constitutionally protected purchases by selectively restricting the use of your payment systems, or otherwise withholding your financial services from targeted “disfavored” merchants.

They closed the letter with these two paragraphs:

Social policy should be debated and determined within our political institutions. Americans are tired of seeing corporate leverage used to advance political goals that cannot muster basic democratic support. The Second Amendment is a fundamental right, but it’s also a fundamental American value. Our financial institutions should stop lending their market power to those who wish to attack that value.

Be advised that we will marshal the full scope of our lawful authority to protect our citizens and consumers from unlawful attempts to undermine their constitutional rights. Please keep that in mind as you consider whether to proceed with adopting and implementing this Merchant Category Code.
