Surprise police arrest 21 in child sex-trafficking operation

Twenty-one people have been arrested for soliciting and/or brokering deals for various sex acts with children, Surprise police said Wednesday.

The Surprise Police Department Criminal Investigations Division recently partnered with the Scottsdale, Glendale, Goodyear and Peoria police departments for Operation “Back to Skool.”

Homeland Security Investigations, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office also were part of the operation.

The Valleywide undercover operation targeting the demand for child sex crimes and human trafficking resulted in 21 arrests by Surprise police, department officials said.

Undercover detectives placed ads on websites commonly sought out by suspects seeking illegal sex acts, according to authorities.

“Operations of this type are a part of the Surprise Police Department’s continuous effort to reduce the demand that fuels child sex trafficking and exploitation of children in our community,” a Surprise Police Department release stated.

The demonstrations over the death of a young woman have now spread to more than 80 Iranian cities, with footage circulating on social media showing women waving and burning their headscarves.

At least 17 people have been killed in protests across Iran following the death of a woman in police custody.

Protests erupted last Friday following the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, who had been arrested by morality police for wearing an "improper" hijab.

The demonstrations have now spread to more than 80 Iranian cities, with footage circulating on social media showing women waving and burning their headscarves.

Other videos show demonstrators vandalising symbols of the Islamic republic and hurling rocks at security personnel.

Local media reported the official death toll has risen to 17, including five security officers but human rights groups believe the number is much higher.

To prevent protests Iran's largest telecommunications provider has shutdown internet services in the capital of Tehran.

Access to Instagram and Whatsapp has been blocked as women took to social media to post videos where they cut their hair in protest under the hashtag #MashaAmini.

Ms Amini was detained on September 16 for wearing "unsuitable attire" and died in police custody after three days in a coma.

Authorities have denied claims the 22-year-old was beaten, insisting she had suffered a heart attack after being taken to the morality police station to be "convinced and educated".

Ms Amini's relatives said she did not suffer from any known heart condition.

Unverified CCTV footage broadcast by state media appeared to show a woman, identified as Ms Amini, fall over shortly after leaving her seat to speak with police.

In response to Ms Amini's death the US Treasury has placed the morality police on its sanctions blacklist citing the "abuse and violence against Iranian women and the violation of the rights of peaceful Iranian protesters".

‘How Is That In Our National Interest?’: DeSantis Takes Action To Limit Chinese Communist Party’s Land Buyouts

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis proposed legislation Thursday prohibiting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from continuing its “nefarious” policy of land buyouts near U.S military bases in the state.

The measure limits companies affiliated with China and other countries of concern, including Russia, Iran and North Korea, from purchasing sensitive land around the 21 U.S. military bases in Florida. Chinese purchases of land at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota, reported by CNBC in July, and Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana triggered worries that the CCP would use the land to surveil goings-on at the bases, potentially giving the CCP a conflict advantage and provide insight to U.S. defense technology.

“How is that in our national interest?” DeSantis said in a press briefing.

“They want to get intelligence. They want to know what’s going on here in the United States,” he added.

China’s Huawei has installed telecommunications equipment on land near U.S. military bases, raising concerns among lawmakers and national security officials that the CCP might intend to capture sensitive data on military procedures and personnel, CNN reported.

Foreign investors hold a stake in 5.8% of Florida’s agricultural land, according to a statement.

“From server farms to farmland, the Communist Party of China has been worming its way into our nation’s data storage systems and buying up tracts of land near sensitive national security sites,” DeSantis said in the statement.

In the same swath of actions designed to protect Floridians from malign Chinese activities, DeSantis signed an executive order barring government entities from obtaining technology products and services from companies those countries own or control. The order also outlaws contracting with companies owned by or housed in the countries of concern, if those contracts would require providing access to Floridians’ personal information, such as medical records.

While some companies appear privately owned, “if you peel back the onion” they display links to the CCP, DeSantis said.

“By prohibiting the purchase of lands, state contracts with Chinese technology firms, and the infiltration of CCP-affiliated groups such as Confucius Institutes, Florida is leading the way to protect our nation from international foes,” said DeSantis.

China purchased a total of $6.1 billion in U.S. real estate last year, much of that near sensitive military and trade sites, Texas Policy reported.

President Joe Biden is aware of China’s “unfair trading practices” and has taken steps to address the ensuing economic risk to the U.S., National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said when asked about China’s land buying scheme in a Sept. 13 briefing.

The DOJ is hoping to convince a jury that the Oath Keepers were planning an insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6.

Oath Keepers members were working security that day at the Ellipse where President Donald Trump spoke to a million supporters. Several Oath Keepers then walked to the US Capitol where at least two more protests were planned.

Stewart Rhodes, the Oath Keepers founder and president, told all of the members to leave their firearms in their hotel rooms outside of the city.

A handful of Oath Keepers members entered the US Capitol that day where they stood around, picked up trash, spoke with police, and left when they were told to.

Next week the government starts its trials against the Oath Keepers members they arrested. The trial for Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes starts on Tuesday with jury selection.

The US government finally admitted in this letter that they were running Confidential Human Sources inside the Oath Keepers organization on January 6.

The government also notified the attorneys that they are issuing a protective order for their operatives they ran inside the organization on January 6.

Attorney Jonathon Moseley, who represents Stewart Rhodes, told The Gateway Pundit on Thursday evening that this was the first time the government admitted to his team that their were government operatives inside the Oath Keepers organization.

From today’s motion the government seeks to prevent the defense attorneys from asking about any other investigations or operations the confidential human sources have been involved in.

The government also seeks to keep the identity of these confidential human sources private from the American public.

Michael Cohen says Lawsuit will Sink Trump Organization

Donald Trump and the Trump Organization are facing legal challenges on multiple fronts. The fraud lawsuit brought by the New York State Attorney General comes with significant financial penalties.

Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen says he believes the civil fraud lawsuit brought against the Trump Organization will destroy the company.

On Wednesday, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the civil fraud lawsuit after a three-year investigation into the Trump family and their businesses. It alleges that the Trump Organization inflated and deflated property values to mislead and attract investors, as well as gain tax and loan benefits.

Speaking on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes” Wednesday night after the announcement, Cohen said the investigation is “going to put an end to the entire company.”

James is asking the court to impose at least $250 million in penalties and a permanent ban on Trump and his family members from serving as an officer or director in any New York-based company. She also said she expects the penalties to rise up to $750 million as the case uncovers the full extent of the organization’s alleged crimes.

Cohen joined the Trump Organization in 2006 and served as the former president’s personal lawyer from 2006 to 2018. In 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to several crimes, including tax evasion, making false statements to a financial institution, and several other charges. In a separate case, also in 2018, he was convicted of lying to the Senate and House Intelligence Committee.

During Wednesday morning’s announcement of the lawsuit, James stated that her investigation began after Cohen testified in front of Congress about the Trump Organization’s business practices.

“When [James] mentioned my name, I was obviously quite elated, to be honest, because I’m finally getting the recognition for what I’ve been sitting on the mountain tops yelling for three and a half, four years,” Cohen said on MSNBC. “Which is that the Trump Organization is a criminal enterprise and that I got thrown under the bus by dear old Donald.”

When announcing the lawsuit, James also said she referred several alleged federal violations to the IRS and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

Trump’s two sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., have blasted the investigation, calling it a witch hunt. Trump echoed those statements on his social media platform Truth Social, calling James “racist” and “perhaps the worst crime fighter in the Country.”
