Vitamin D is produced from cholesterol by sunlight. You can supplement for it BUT THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS YOU GENERATING IT YOURSELF.

If you live NORTH OF OKLAHOMA then you get insufficient vitamin d from the SON. Even if you supplement you are denying your body certain enzymes which are super important.
