Can microwave ovens double as faraday cages?

They keep the microwaves inside, so…? Does it work the otherwayaround?

Would an old, unplugged and not working, but otherwise undamaged, oven also work? Is it something in the fabric or, you know.. the thing?

Maybe put the backup harddrive in one, just in case.

I was thinking emp, just for general safekeepiing, like a standard storage for backup drives. Keep it in the basement or something.

I don´t actually have one, but it should be easy to find some old ones, test this with a phone.
