FBI Agents Raid Home of Pro-Life Author With Guns Drawn in Front of His Screaming Kids

By Nick Arama | 9:30 PM on September 24, 2022

It’s getting to be a thing now — the questionable FBI raid with political overtones — under the Biden Administration. That’s a frightening thing to say. How quickly we have gotten there under Biden, where law enforcement is politicized.

The latest victim of the armed FBI agents raiding people’s homes first thing in the morning for things that don’t seem to justify it is Mark Houck, founder, and president of “The King’s Men,” a group that promotes healing for victims of pornography addiction and promotes Christian virtues among men in the United States and Europe. He’s also a pro-life activist and on Wednesdays, he sidewalk counsels people in front of a Planned Parenthood in Philadelphia.

According to Mark Houck’s wife, Ryan-Marie, 25-30 agents surrounded their house, pounded on the door, yelling with guns drawn at 7:05 a.m. on Friday. That was until yesterday when, according to his wife, 25-30 armed FBI agents raided their home at 7:05 a.m.

His wife said they entered the home and pointed rifles at them as their kids began screaming.

His wife and kids watched and they arrested Mark.

Before opening the door, she explained, her husband tried to calm them, saying, “‘Please, I’m going to open the door, but, please, my children are in the home. I have seven babies in the house.’ But they just kept pounding and screaming,” she said.

When he opened the door, “they had big, huge rifles pointed at Mark and pointed at me and kind of pointed throughout the house,” Ryan-Marie described.

When they came in, they ordered the kids to stay upstairs. “Our staircase is open, so [the kids] were all at the top of the stairs which faces the front door, and I was on the stairs as well, coming down.” “The kids were all just screaming. It was all just very scary and traumatic,” she explained.

After asking them why they were at the house, the agents said they were there to arrest Mark. When Ryan-Marie asked for their warrant, “they said that they were going to take him whether they had a warrant or not.”

When Ryan-Marie protested, saying that is kidnapping, “you can’t just come to a person’s house and kidnap them at gunpoint,” they agreed to get the warrant for her from one of their vehicles. Why did they show up at his home and arrest him like that? What had he done?

According to Ryan-Marie, a pro-abortion protester kept getting in the face of their son who was with his father in front of Planned Parenthood. The pro-abortion protester kept saying inappropriate and obscene things to the son, according to Houck’s wife.

And “he kept doing it and kind of came into [the son’s] personal space” obscenely ridiculing his father. At this point, “Mark shoved him away from his child, and the guy fell back.”

“He didn’t have any injuries or anything, but he tried to sue Mark,” and the case was thrown out of court in the early summer.

According to the official press release about the arrest, the DOJ claims Houck, shoved a man to the ground twice in front of a Planned Parenthood in Philadelphia. They claim there were “injuries that required medical attention” without saying what they were.

Mark Houck is now facing a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and fines of up to $350,000.

In a non-federal prosecution, if you shoved someone and there were no real injuries, if it was prosecuted at all, it would probably be a misdemeanor, with no real time, assuming you had no prior record. Normally, this is the kind of federal raid that you would get if you were a drug dealer, not an author who allegedly shoved someone who was saying inappropriate things to his son.

But now we’ve seen that even a former president isn’t safe from this kind of excessive FBI approach and that even something that was relatively minor a year ago can get you armed FBI on your doorstep — if you’re just coincidentally of the wrong political persuasion. This is scary stuff. We’re still waiting on the raids for the firebombings from leftists of the crisis pregnancy centers.

Some blasted the two-tiered approach that we’re seeing once again. Nobody responsible for the nearly 100 attacks, including firebombs and vandalism, on pro-life pregnancy centers has been charged by the DOJ.

But a pro-life activist who pushed a Planned Parenthood volunteer threatening his sonis now facing 11 years in jail.

Two-tiers justice.

Trump Slams Former 'Great Friend,'Now 'Ungrateful' DeSantis 1 of 2

By Mike Miller | 11:30 AM on September 25, 2022

We knew this was coming. That is, if “we” have been paying attention or not in a state of denial.

Former President Donald Trump and presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis are widely seen within the Republican Party as potential rivals for the 2024 presidential nomination. Obvious public contrasts exist, yet both men have kept their powder dry, but behind-the-scenes tensions have reportedly already erupted.

Trump has all but announced his candidacy while DeSantis remains noncommittal — publicly, at least.

As I suggested in a June Article titled, Trump Plays Nice About Potential 2024 Showdown With DeSantis, but How Long Will the Geniality Last?, “Let’s just hope those wheels don’t fall off before it’s over.” While we’re far from the race officially beginning, no wheels have fallen off, yet, but they’re already wobbling.

While there have been hints along the way, according to sources familiar with both camps, “stuff” just got real. And by “real,” I mean in Trump’s mind, his former “great friend” and “tough, brilliant cookie” is now an unappreciative, “ungrateful” self-serving politician, about whom Trump reportedly grouses: “I made him.”

As reported by The Washington Post, Trump has yet to endorse DeSantis as he seeks a second term and is unlikely to campaign for him, according to Trump advisors with knowledge of the former president’s intentions. The two men once spoke regularly, a close Trump adviser said, but, “those days are gone.” The two haven’t talked since early in the summer, said people familiar with the situation, and DeSantis has not asked Trump to campaign for him, undoubtedly taken as a slight by Trump.

DeSantis, who’s favored to win re-election over Republican-turned-Democrat challenger Charlie Christ, is also trying to build support on the national stage, appealing to Trump supporters and headlining rallies in swing states for other Republicans on the ballot this fall, as he subtly distances himself from Trump, while not explicitly criticizing the former president — currently a bad political move for a Republican politician.

Don Tapia, the U.S. ambassador to Jamaica during the Trump administration and now a DeSantis donor, told WaPo that during a recent gathering with “a few dozen donors,” “everyone asked him about 2024.” But “right now, the Republican base is Donald’s base,” he added.

Here’s more from WaPo:

In recently flying migrants from Texas to a liberal enclave, Martha’s Vineyard, DeSantis took a polarizing step that Trump considered as president but eventually scuttled. It drew attention and outrage from Democrats and human rights advocates and delighted the conservative base on an issue core to Trump’s political identity: immigration.

The former president tracks DeSantis’s public appearances and polling numbers, according to his advisers who, like others interviewed for this story, spoke on the condition of anonymity to share private conversations. He has also soured on DeSantis, repeatedly criticizing him and telling advisers: “I made him.”

“He’s ungrateful,” Trump has said, according to two people close to him. “I knew him from watching Fox, and he’d done a good job about me and other things. He’s an Ivy League baseball player,” Trump has said, explaining his 2018 endorsement according to a person who has visited his Mar-a-Lago Club and heard him talk about DeSantis. “I don’t understand what happened here. I don’t understand why he doesn’t appreciate me more.”

I wasn’t there — and neither has anyone who’s inclined to shred this piece for any number of reasons, most likely because it’s in part sourced from The Washington Post and several unidentified sources reportedly close to Trump — but this sounds like quintessential Donald Trump. The egocentricity, most of all, from claiming “I made him” in reference to the popular Florida governor, who has not only become one of the most high-profile Republican leaders in America and has not only vigorously opposed the Biden administration and all things “woke,” but has also followed up his attacks against the left with concrete actions, much to the delight of conservatives across America.

It’s also interesting that Trump reportedly gauged DeSantis’s “good job” as doing a good job “about me.”

Trump recently polled a room of visitors at his Bedminster golf club about what they thought of DeSantis, according to a person present for the gathering. I bet you could’ve heard a pin drop, if not a few gulps, with visitors thinking it would in be insane to praise DeSantis in front of The Donald.

So there it is — for now. Is every word of every quote true? Again, dunno, I wasn’t there.

That said, what I do know is a revolving-door reality existed in Trump’s White House.

Administration officials who were initially described by Trump as among the smartest and most accomplished people on the planet, often later resigned or were fired, followed by any number of ad hominem attacks. Among them were Secretary of Defense Jim “Mad Dog” Mattis, Chief of Staff John Kelly, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Attorney General Bill Barr, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, National Security Aide and Deputy Assistant to Trump Sebastian Gorka, Senior Advisor Steve Bannon, White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, and the State Department’s entire Senior Staff.

The point of the above? Play “stupid games” with Donald Trump; win stupid prizes.

Much is yet to be seen as the Republican 2024 run for the White House begins in earnest, the day after the November 2022 midterm elections. As is always the case with politics, particularly with the presidential election more than two years away, there will certainly be twists and turns, some of which will be unsurprising; others that will blow the doors off the popcorn maker.

Given the two heavyweights likely to duke it out, the price of admission will be worth every penny.

COVID-19

Title: The DARPA Difference: Pivoting to Address COVID

Updated March 19, 2021

DARPA continues to work closely with the Department of Defense (DoD), multiple U.S. government agencies, as well as its academic and industry partners, to provide technical and scientific solutions to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

Welcome to the sixth installment of DARPA’s ongoing web series highlighting the agency’s active programs focused on the diagnosis, detection, treatment, prevention and manufacture of medical countermeasures to combat COVID-19, including:

Diagnose & Detect:

Diagnosis is a critical aspect of pandemic prevention and response. DARPA research is producing tests that offer earlier, more sensitive, and widely distributable diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2-infected patients.

DARPA began the Detect It with Gene Editing Technologies (DIGET) and the Epigenetic CHaracterization and Observation (ECHO) programs focused on rapid discovery, validation, and manufacture of diagnostics detecting any threat, anytime, anywhere.

DIGET, which recently awarded a contract to MRI Global, is moving forward with its goal to build a multiplexed detection device to screen up to a thousand pathogens at a time, along with a mobile, point-of-need device targeting up to 10 pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2. DARPA’s ECHO program is developing diagnostic tests that measure the body’s response to viral infection rather than testing for the virus itself.

DARPA ECHO supported the U.S. Marine Corps and the Naval Medical Research Center as part of COVID-19 Health Action Response for Marines (CHARM). During the 2-month study, DARPA provided near-real-time diagnostic results for over 3,500 Marine recruits to ensure that training at Parris Island could continue through the entirety of 2020 and into 2021. This work led to updated CDC quarantine guidelines reducing the necessary quarantine period from 14 to 10 days for individuals testing positive for COVID-19, as outlined in a November 2020 New England Journal of Medicine publication.

A second CHARM study was posted in January 2021 on the preprint server MedRxiv, demonstrating that COVID-19 reinfection was “common” among those who had the virus. Of the 189 participants that tested positive for antibodies, 19 ended up testing positive for the virus six weeks later, according to the study. In March 2021, the study was accepted for publication in The Lancet.

The team is now focusing on expanding the cohort and tracking long-term host response, in addition to new infections, in the U.S. Marine Corps.

In a separate December 2020 investigation, ECHO performers at Duke University posted data on chromatin remodeling reflecting disease severity prognosis, and a separate team at Stanford demonstrated 87.5% accuracy in predicting mortality in COVID. These studies demonstrated the potential of the epigenome to both diagnose and predict disease severity in COVID-19 patients at the early, asymptomatic stages of infection.

In addition to the host-based methods under development, in August 2020, ECHO performers received EUA approval for a direct viral saliva test, the first manufacturer’s EUA for diagnosis of COVID-19 from saliva. The saliva test is now being further developed in partnership with the NIH RADx program.

Friend or Foe

Two preliminary efforts associated with the Friend or Foe program have made critical advances in SARS-CoV-2 detection.

A preliminary effort at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), tasked with developing systems to detect pathogenic bacteria quickly, shifted to target COVID-19. Leveraging digital design and rapid prototyping on production manufacturing systems, the team demonstrated a point-of-care assay and system that requires only a smartphone to collect and process diagnostic images. The UIUC performer detected SARS-CoV-2 from nasal swab samples in 30 minutes, and developed test cartridges that can quickly scale up to hundreds of thousands of tests.

Researchers at Stanford University are developing biosensors that can quickly spot an attack on a cell membrane – the first step of CoVID-19 (or any) infection. The team is using the platform to identify mechanisms to inhibit CoVID-19 membrane attack; the technology can be readily multiplexed enabling fast high-throughput drug screens.

Treat & Prevent:

DARPA technology contributes to preventing future COVID-19 infections through novel vaccine technology and more pervasive environmental aerosol monitoring, and to treating the disease through novel antibody treatments, rapid drug discovery, and domestic active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacture.
