ohn Frederick Milius is an American screenwriter, film director, and producer. He was a writer for the first two Dirty Harry films, received an Academy Award nomination as screenwriter of Apocalypse Now, and wrote and directed The Wind and the Lion, Conan the Barbarian, and Red Dawn.

He coined the phrase, “Go ahead, make my day.” That alone earns screenwriter John Milius a place in the Hollywood Dialogue Hall of Fame — if there was such an institution. Milius’ film career stretches back to the mid-60’s and his writing credits include Dirty Harry (1971), Jeremiah Johnson (1972), Apocalypse Now (1979), and Clear and Present Danger (1994).

 

In this video which takes place in what I can only assume is a Coppola Napa Valley winery, the famed director has an extended conversation with Milius:
