habberman book says

Shortly after she said she would vote to impeach former President Donald Trump in 2019, U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell of Michigan says she got a mysterious phone call. She had also recently condemned Trump for speaking ill of her late husband, U.S. Rep. John Dingell, at a rally.

The caller claimed to be a reporter from the Washington Post, though Dingell did not recognize his name. But he sounded an awful lot like Trump, and the quotes never appeared in a Washington Post story.

That’s according to a Post review of Confidence Man, a new book by New York Times reporter and Trump chronicler Maggie Haberman.

“The man asked Dingell if she was looking for an apology from Trump,” Haberman writes. “No, she replied, merely that people could be civil to one another. As the man talked, Dingell couldn’t shake the idea that his voice sounded like that of the forty-fifth president.”

…from someone claiming to be a Washington Post reporter whose name she didn't know. The more he talked, she couldn't shake the sense that it was President Trump. The quotes never appeared in a story https://t.co/3rNQyPSjaN

— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) September 28, 2022

It’s not far-fetched. Starting in the 1980s, Trump used the alias “John Bannon” to lie to reporters about his wealth, and following a lawsuit, Trump admitted as much, testifying under oath in 1990 that “I believe on occasion I used that name.” (Also, Trump’s 16-year-old son is named Barron.)

The new book details other strange claims, including that Trump had to be dissuaded from bombing Mexican drug labs and that Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s husband warned Hillary Clinton that Russians might try to poison Clinton through a handshake with Trump during the 2016 debates.

A Trump spokesman denied the allegations to the Washington Post. “While coastal elites obsess over boring books chock full of anonymously-sourced fairytales, America is a nation in decline,” Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich told the Post. “President Trump is focused on Saving America, and there’s nothing the Fake News can do about it.”

Hmmm, that sure sounds like something Trump would say.

Meanwhile, Haberman is facing backlash for allegedly withholding damning information on Trump to sell her book.

Judge Green Lights Defamation Lawsuit Against Fox, Lou Dobbs

NEW YORK (AP) — A defamation lawsuit against Fox Corp., Fox News Network and Lou Dobbs can proceed toward trial, a judge ruled Monday after concluding that a Venezuelan businessman had made sufficient claims of being unfairly accused of trying to corrupt the 2020 U.S. presidential election to be permitted to gather more evidence.

The lawsuit filed last year alleged that businessman Majed Khalil was defamed by Dobbs on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” and in tweets.

It said the former Fox personality joined with attorney Sidney Powell on a December 2020 show to claim that Khalil and three others designed and developed programs and machines to corrupt the presidential election.

Lawyers for Fox and Dobbs had tried to convince U.S. District Judge Louis L. Stanton in Manhattan to toss out the lawsuit before evidence such as depositions and emails could be reviewed, but the judge said Khalil had sufficiently claimed that his reputation was harmed by false accusations.

The judge said Khalil may be able to argue to a jury that actual malice occurred because the defendants “repeatedly maintained their claims about Khalil long after Powell’s election fraud theories were challenged.”

He wrote that numerous reports declaring the falsity of claims against voting machine manufacturers Smartmatic Corp. and Dominion Voting Systems and rejecting Powell as a source of accurate information gave the defendants “reasons to doubt Powell’s veracity and the accuracy of her reports.”

Stanton said Khalil had sufficiently alleged that “the defendants purposefully avoided the truth, given the amount of public information regarding the lack of fraud in the election.”

He rejected arguments by lawyers for Fox that it cannot be held liable for statements made by Dobbs and Powell.

The judge noted that Fox controlled Twitter accounts from which many of the statements were first made.

He said the network’s executives were also on notice that allegations regarding election rigging by Dominion and Smartmatic were false because they had received several emails from the companies and had conversations with Dominion.

Monkeypox: Unvaccinated 14 Times More Likely To Contract Disease Than Those Without Shot, CDC Says

Madeline Halpert, Forbes Staff - 21m ago

People vaccinated against monkeypox were 14 times less likely than those who were not vaccinated to contract the disease, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky said Wednesday, offering the first data on the real-world effectiveness of the Jynneos vaccine since the U.S. began rolling out the shot.

Key Facts

Walensky said during a press briefing that she has a “level of cautious optimism,” about the preliminary data, which was collected between July to September 2022 from patients who had received one dose of the Jynneos vaccine across 32 states.

The results suggest that even one vaccine dose offers at least some protection against infection as early as two weeks after getting the shot, though Walensky stressed that two shots are still recommended.

The CDC director added that preventative behavior changes—such as avoiding close skin-to-skin contact with someone who has monkeypox—can also help drive down infections, especially as the government continues to collect data on the durability of the vaccine.

The White House will allow people to get vaccinated in other parts of the body besides the forearm, including their shoulder or upper back, after jurisdictions and advocates have reported to the government that some are declining to get the shot to avoid stigma from having a visible mark from the vaccine on their arm, said Demetre Daskalakis, the deputy White House monkeypox coordinator.

The news comes as the number of monkeypox cases around the world and in the U.S. continues to fall.

Big Number

More than 800,000. That’s how many monkeypox vaccine shots have been administered so far, White House monkeypox coordinator Robert Fenton said Wednesday.

Surprising Fact

The U.S. has reported 25,341 cases across all states since the outbreak began in May, according to the CDC. New infections began to fall toward the end of August when more more vaccines become available and after the most at-risk population, men who have sex with men, took a host of actions to prevent the spread of the disease, officials have said in the past. According to a recent study shared by the CDC, about 50% of gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men reported taking steps to protect themselves and their partners from monkeypox.

Key Background

The White House declared monkeypox a public health emergency in August to streamline resources and boost vaccine supply after cases began to surge. The U.S. is reliant on a small Danish biotechnology company, Bavarian Nordic, for the Jynneos two-dose regimen vaccine, the only shot approved by the Food and Drug Administration for monkeypox. Data on the effectiveness of monkeypox vaccines in the real world has been extremely limited, as the Jynneos shot was originally designed to prevent smallpox, a related disease. It’s also because previous cases around the world were rare, though the disease is endemic to certain regions of Africa, where it has been largely ignored by the international community. Studies conducted by Bavarian Nordic and data from Africa have shown Jynneos works against monkeypox, according to the CDC.

Tangent

Facing a shortage of vaccines and a backlash over a slow shot rollout, the federal government last month approved a new vaccination strategy known as “dose-sparing” to stretch the number of shots. The new method allows health care workers to extract up to five doses from a one-dose Jynneos vaccine vial to inject intradermally, or into the skin, instead of subcutaneously, or underneath the skin into the fat. The National Institutes of Health began a clinical trial earlier this month to evaluate the effectiveness of this new method.

they are literally running every story from habberman book as fact

Anew book is alleging that former President Donald Trump believed his ex-girlfriend, Kara Young — who is biracial — possessed an intelligent side to her purely because she was half white. The explosive claims, which have been reviewed by Rolling Stone, are made in New Yorker Times writer Maggie Haberman’s book, “Confidence Man.”

The pair were said to have dated in the late ‘90s, and according to Haberman, there was an instance where Trump had been introduced to his former flame’s parents where he shockingly felt compelled to make a rather racist joke in their presence. She writes that Trump confidently told them that Young must have gotten her intelligence “from her dad, the white side,” and her looks from her mother.

one would never suspect he was such a racist if not for every single thing he’s ever said or done in his life

The book asserts that while Trump was brought to laughter by his own remark, Young looked displeased by the comment. But that’s not all, Haberman then goes on to claim that during his time as President of the United States, Trump mistook his staffers of color for waiters, having assumed they were only there to serve him his food. Former White House chief of staff Reince Preibus had to correct Trump, telling him that he was actually speaking to top congressional aides.

Trump has faced claims of racism for years, though he had vehemently denied every single one of these accusations in the past, saying he does not think about someone’s skin color by any means.

Some would argue otherwise, as his previous false comments about former President Barack Obama not being from the U.S. continues to ruffle people the wrong way. He first made the comment back in 2011, further adding that Obama perhaps wasn’t a good enough student to have gotten into a prestigious school such as Columbia or Harvard. He then went on to demand Obama to prove he was born in the U.S. by releasing his birth certificate and university transcripts.

We all know he is racist, that’s why his supporters love him, unfortunately

“I heard he was a terrible student. Terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?” Trump said. Furthermore, in 2015, he infamously claimed that Mexican immigrants were “rapists” who were “bringing crime” and “drugs” to the U.S., seemingly generalizing those who have left their homes to start a new life in America.

It’s believed Trump plans on running for the presidency once more in the upcoming election.
