Canadian Province Refuses To Participate in Trudeau’s Federal Gun Confiscation

Alberta Justice Minister Tyler Shandro said his province will not participate in any attempts to seize firearms the federal government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has recently prohibited, including so-called “assault rifles.”

Justice Minister Shandro explained that he did not want to see the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Alberta go around confiscating firearms after claiming to have received a letter from the federal minister of public safety Marc Mendicino asking for resources to aid in confiscation efforts set to begin in the Autumn.

“Alberta taxpayers pay over $750 million per year for the RCMP and we will not tolerate taking officers off the streets in order to confiscate the property of law-abiding firearms owners,” Shandro said, the CBC reports.

The expected seizures of firearms originate from May of 2020 when the Trudeau government prohibited 1,500 different kinds of firearms from being either sold or used in Canada, all of which were supposed “assault-style firearms.”

However, closer examination of the firearms on the ban list revealed that many of the guns on the list were not even self-loading semi-automatic guns but bolt-action rifles that have been used by hunters and sportsmen for over a century, while others were variants of the AR-15 platform.

The 2020 ban came in the wake of a deadly mass shooting and arson rampage in Nova Scotia by Gabriel Wortman, who put on the uniform of a police officer and drove a fake RCMP cruiser while going on a killing spree before he was shot dead by police. Investigations later revealed that Wortman’s firearms had been illegally acquired, however, and smuggled across the US border.

Earlier this year, Trudeau went even further, looking to ban the sale and transfer of all handguns in Canada, with minister of public safety Mendicino arguing the ban would combat gun violence in the country.

Hawley: ‘To Those Folks at the FBI and DOJ – Preserve Your Documents’

During an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity” on Tuesday, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) criticized the Biden Justice Department’s double standard, with one applied to Republicans and conservatives and another applied to the political allies of the Biden administration.

“Generally speaking, as I look at the FBI today, and we have all these whistleblowers that Merrick Garland is now trying to silence as he reminds them that they’re not allowed to talk to elected officials like you and Charles Grassley and Ron Johnson, has the FBI been politicized? Is the DOJ in this country, in your view, with a raid like this, have they been weaponized?” host Sean Hannity asked.

“Totally, Sean,” Hawley replied. “I mean, listen, if you look at what’s going on here and you look at the fact that they’ll send a SWAT-style team to go after a Catholic pro-life activist, but at the same time there are, what, 17 or more fire-bombings of pregnancy care centers that have not — no arrests have been made. They’re not lifting a finger to do anything about those. What it says is, is that there are two tiers of justice here. There are two systems, and one is ideological. And if you are a conservative, if you are a person of faith, then you are going to get targeted by this administration. They will use the law against you.”

“And, Sean, that is wrong, and we’ve got to find out who is responsible,” he continued. “I want to know who signed off on this. I want to know exactly the person or group of people, and they need to be held accountable. And by held accountable, I mean removed from office.And if that is Merrick Garland, he should be removed from office. It’s time to take the gloves off here and defend the rule of law.”

Hannity asked Hawley what avenues whistleblowers had available should a Republican-controlled Congress seek accountability.

“Do we have whistleblower protection laws in this country because once Senator Grassley and Johnson and Jim Jordan came out with the fact that we’re going to have or more maybe as many as FBI whistleblowers, talking about how the agency has been politicized, all of a sudden, Merrick Garland put out a memorandum, reminding people in the department,” Hannity said. “This is Biden’s Justice Department, that they’re not allowed to talk to elected officials. Now, that would seem to contradict the whistleblower laws as I understand them where government is supposed to protect them, and punitive actions and measures are not to be taken against them.”

“Yeah, you bet we do have whistleblower protection, Sean, and we’ve had multiple whistleblowers come to me and come to my office, and as you say, we’re seeing now literally dozens of FBI whistleblowers come forward,” Hawley responded. “They are explicitly protected in the law. They’re explicitly given the right to come forward, and we are glad they are because they are opening a door. They’re throwing light on what is happening at the FBI and DOJ. They’re throwing light on the fact that this administration is using law enforcement as a political weapon and not just against political opponents, though that is terrible, but against normal everyday people like this Catholic pro-life demonstrator who was there with his son.”

“And now, he’s got a SWAT team on his front door,” he added. “This is wrong, Sean. It is dangerous. It’s dangerous for this country. It’s dangerous for a future. And I say again, it’s time to start holding people accountable for this. And I’ll just say to those folks at the FBI and DOJ — preserve your documents right now. Don’t delete anything because the Republican Congress is coming, and we are going to hold you accountable.”

Liz Truss’ plan to push for more immigration into Britain constitutes “betraying Brexit voting Tories”, Nigel Farage has said.

“Brexit voting Tories” look like they will soon be betrayed by newly minted Prime Minister Liz Truss, Nigel Farage has claimed, with the so-called ‘Conservative’ leader now looking at further loosening requirements for legal immigrants entering the country.

The Truss government has argued that such rules are needed in order to boost the UK’s embattled economy, with one insider reportedly claiming that such a move would not constitute an overall increase in the number of legal immigrants entering Britain, which is already at a record high.

However, in a video posted to social media on Tuesday, Nigel Farage attacked such a claim, saying that the new Prime Minister is being manipulated by monied interests.

CNN’s Jake Tapper Accuses DCCC Of Taking His Words Out Of Context For Campaign Ad

CNN’s Jake Tapper ripped the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) on Tuesday after they ran an ad that he says took his words out of context.

Tapper reported last Wednesday about Michigan republican congressional candidate John Gibbs, who is backed by former President Donald Trump.

“Get this, a congressional candidate supported by Donald Trump, by the way, whose past writings and associations indicate that he is against women voting,” Tapper said. “We’re talking about John Gibbs. You might remember him because with some financial support from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, with ads, that thought he would be an easier candidate to beat.”

The DCCC used Tapper’s clip for an ad in support of Democratic candidate Hillary Scholten but omitted Tapper’s final sentence on the DCCC actually funding, in part, Gibbs’ campaign.

“We took part of the segment and running an edited version on Twitter,” Tapper said. “They posted the part where I noted Gibbs previous opposition to women voting but cut out he part the DCCC contributed to the Gibbs’ campaign by funding ads. First I’ll play what aired on ‘The Lead’ and then play how the DCC edited out my words to hide the role theyplayed in boosting him.”

Tapper then played both ads, showing how the DCCC omitted the last sentence.

“We just wanted to set the record straight since apparently the DCCC cannot be counted on to do so,” Tapper said Tuesday after displaying the misleading ad.

Gibbs primaries incumbent Rep. Peter Meijer, a Republican who voted to impeach Trump. Democrats have been funneling money into congressional campaigns to help unseat moderate Republicans who they believe would be harder to beat in the general election. The DCCC paid $435,000 in TV ads to boost Gibbs, with Meijer losing the primary to Gibbs.

NATO member wants ‘devastating’ retaliation against Russia

The bloc’s response to any use of WMDs by Moscow in Ukraine must not be nuclear, but still massive, Poland’s foreign minister says

NATO’s response to any use of tactical nuclear weapons by Russia in Ukraine must be“devastating” but only employ conventional arms, as Moscow’s threat is not directed at the bloc, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau has said.

“To the best of our knowledge, Putin is threatening to use tactical nuclear weapons on Ukrainian soil, not to attack NATO, which means that NATO should respond in a conventional way,” Rau claimed during his Wednesday’s appearance on NBC News program Meet the Press.

“But the response should be devastating. And I suppose this is the clear message that the NATO alliance is sending to Russia right now,”the minister pointed out.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday that “the consequences would be horrific” for Russian if it uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, adding that this message has already been communicated to the Russian leadership publicly and privately.

The warning followed an address by Vladimir Putin a week ago, in which he announced partial mobilization in Russia and slammed “some senior officials in NATO states” for suggesting that deploying nuclear weapons against Russia was justified.

The President made it clear that such a move won’t be left unanswered by Russia, reminding that it has its own arsenal of destructive weapons, some of which surpass their Western-counterparts. “If the territorial integrity of our nation is threatened, we will certainly use all the means that we have to defend Russia and our people. It’s not a bluff,” Putin stated.

Over the past week, the US and allies have increased intelligence gathering and surveillance over concerns that signs that Russia decides to deploy nukes could “come too late,” Politico reported on Tuesday.

According to US officials, who talked to the outlet, air, space and cyberspace monitoring of Russian units in Ukraine that could potentially receive the nuclear order from the Kremlin has been stepped up, with special attention also being paid to Russia’s western exclave of Kaliningrad.

Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergey Ryabkov reiterated last week that “we are not threatening anyone with nuclear weapons.” He referred the journalists to the Russian military doctrine, which states that nuclear weapons may only be employed if such arms or other weapons of mass destruction are being targeted at the country or its being faced with an existential threat from conventional arms.
