I bake my own bread, have done for more than 2 years now. It costs 60% of the price of the loaf I buy & lasts longer than the store bought bread. It also has no soy fillers in it. You can only fit in a single 2 slice sandwich because there is more protein per slice than the store bought shit.
My bread takes 1 hr to bake & the power where I am cost 18c/KWh The oven is 2.8 KW so that's 2.8X0.18x1=0.504c to bake the bread.
I do have an advantage though. I have 4800W of usable solar on the roof that paid itself off in 5 years so I actually don't pay anything for electricity to bake it now.
I did the solar as an FU to the utilities and I'm really happy I did.
Forgot to say that my loaf is 59% hydrated and uses 623g of flour so I can maximize a 5Kg bag to 8 loaves.
