The central UK government got involved after a regional police force attracted attention for demanding the public not “misgender” a “transgender” paedophile convicted abusing of seven children.Members of the general public were ordered by the Sussex Policeon Tuesday not to target the sexual identity of a “trans” pedophile convicted of abusing seven children.

According to a report on the matter by The Times, the police force wrote on social media that comments about convicted pedophile “Sally Ann Dixon” — who previously went by John — were not to be tolerated. Dixon is reported as beingfound guilty of 30 “historic offences against children” ranging from age six to 15, being sentenced to 20 years in prison.

“Sussex Police do not tolerate any hateful comments towards their gender identity regardless of crimes committed,” the force wrote on social media, describing such a “gender identity” as being “irrelevant to the crime that has been committed and investigated.”

It reportedly went on to tell one netizen that if they had so-called “gender critical views”, that they should express their opinions “on other platforms”. The statements were met by outrage from many online, culminating with UK Secretary Suella Braverman criticising the force for “playing identity politics”.

“[Sussex Police] have done well to put a dangerous criminal behind bars,” the Tory party politician wrote online. “But they’ve got it wrong by playing identity politics and denying biology,” she continued, before saying that they should instead “focus on catching criminals” and not “policing pronouns”.

The police force then proceeded to delete their original tweets, before putting up a statement apologising for their comments, which they described as being “inconsistent with our usual style of engagement”, a move that Braverman welcomed. “I acknowledge and thank [Sussex Police] for their swift apology & retraction,” she said. “The best police officers focus on solving crimes and supporting victims. Not political correctness.”

Seemingly as a result of radical sexual politics that now appears endemic in British institutions, there has been a systematic push to have the so-called “gender identity” recognised, even sometimes at the expense of their victims. For example, the UK government only recently conceded that it was a bad idea to house “transgender” male prisoners with women after a number of incidents involving such prisoners having sexual relations — consensual and otherwise — with fellow inmates.

To make matters worse, under UK law, prisoners who refused to recognise the preferred gender of their fellow inmates ran the risk of being disciplined, up to and including havingtheir prison term extended. (that’s insane). Such pro-transgenderism sentiment is not just prominent within the UK’s justice system however, with the state-owned BBC also frequently championing “transgender” ideology in its reporting.

This attitude resulted in the broadcaster editing a statement made by a rape victim about their transgender attacker, with the news agency replacing all instances where the woman used male pronouns to gender-neutral ones so as to not “misgender” them.

One feminist campaigner described the move as being “really unethical and disrespectful to the victim”, labelling it a “form of gaslighting for a woman who has already been through sexual violence”.

South Korean spy agency makes nuclear test prediction – MP

Pyongyang could conduct its seventh nuclear detonation within weeks, according to a Seoul lawmaker

North Korea could test a nuclear device at some point between October 16 and November 7, a South Korean lawmaker has claimed, citing the country’s foreign intelligence agency.

The assessment was allegedly part of a closed-door briefing that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) gave to the parliamentary intelligence committee, and was made public on Wednesday by Yoo Sang-beom, a legislator from the ruling People Power Party, who sits on the oversight body.

The timeline was identified based on the dates of scheduled political events in China and the US, the MP explained. On October 16, the Chinese Communist Party will start its 20th National Congress, and November 7 is the eve of the midterm elections in the US.

The intelligence agency claimed the probability of a test was increased by the recent completion of Tunnel 3 at the Punggye-ri test range, Yoo told journalists.

North Korea’s six nuclear tests between October 2006 and September 2017 were all conducted at the underground facility in the northernmost North Hamgyong Province. North Korea watchers assessed this summer that the southern Tunnel 3 appeared fully ready for a new test, based on satellite images.

Billionaire investor lambasts UK government

Its policies could exacerbate inflation in the country and result in ballooning public debt, prominent investor Ray Dalio warns

The UK’s new cabinet is operating like the government of an emerging country, billionaire investor and the founder of Bridgewater Associates Ray Dalio wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

He criticized Britain’s new spending plan for its aggressive tax cuts that could raise the nation’s debts to an unsustainable level and cripple the pound.

“Investors and policymakers: Heed the lesson of the UK’s fiscal blunder,” Dalio wrote in a tweet. “The panic selling you are now seeing that is leading to the plunge of UK bonds, currency, and financial assets is due to the recognition that the big supply of debt that will have to be sold by the government is much too much for the demand.”

According to Dalio, the rapid increase in debt, coupled with the lack of demand for the British pound on the global stage, is a recipe for disaster.

“That makes people want to get out of the debt and currency. I can’t understand how those who were behind this move didn’t understand that. It suggests incompetence,” Dalio wrote.

“Mechanistically, theUK government is operating like the government of an emerging country, it is producing too much debt in a currency that there is not a big world demand for,” he added.

Moscow warns US against 'using Zelensky regime' as proxy

Washington risks becoming a direct party to the war with continued arms shipments, Moscow’s envoy warned

Russia will act to defend all of its territory and people, as well as residents of regions in eastern Ukraine that voted to join the Russian Federation this week, Moscow’s ambassador to the United States has said, accusing both Washington and NATO of stoking further violence with military aid to Kiev.

Asked about recent comments from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken – who said the White House has no problem with Kiev using Western arms to attack territories that voted to join Russia – Ambassador Anatoly Antonov warned that the weapons shipments only risk “further escalation of the conflict.”

“In instigating Kiev to continue using the military equipment received from the West, Washington does not realize the riskiness of its actions,” the envoy said on Tuesday, adding that the Joe Biden administration is “approaching the dangerous line that Russia has repeatedly and clearly warned about: the United States becoming a party to the Ukrainian conflict.”

Earlier in the day, Blinken insisted the US “will never recognize the annexation of Ukrainian territory by Russia,” referring to votes in the two Donbass republics already recognized by Moscow – Donetsk and Lugansk – as well as the Ukrainian regions of Zaporozhye and Kherson, which are largely under the control of the Russian military. All four regions voted overwhelmingly to join Russia, according to local referendum observers.

“Ukraine has the absolute right to defend itself throughout its territory, including to take back the territory that has been illegally seized, one way or another, by Russia. And the equipment, the weapons that we and many other countries are providing, have been used very effectively to do just that,” Blinken said.

In response, Antonov said Russia would take “firm and decisive” steps to “defend the Fatherland,” going on to argue that “diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the crisiscannot be effectiveas long as the collective West uses the Zelensky regime as a military mercenary against Russia.”

“Civilians and children are being killed. Residential areas, schools and hospitals are being irreparably damaged,” the ambassador continued, accusing both the US and its allies in the NATO alliance of “sowing death and destruction.”

The Biden administration previously said it received “assurances” from the Ukrainian government that US-made long-range rocket artillery systems would not be used for attacks on Russian soil.

However, at the time it was not clear whether those guarantees applied to Crimea, which voted to reunite with Russia in a 2014 referendum similar to those that took place this week, and Kiev has since launched strikes on the peninsula.

German spies helping Ukraine – media

BND leaked the revelation to Zeit magazine, confident that Russia won’t retaliate

German foreign intelligence serviceBND has been forwarding satellite imagery, radio and phone intercept data to Kiev for months, helping the Ukrainian war effort while Berlin officially maintained it wasn’t party to the conflict, Zeit magazine revealed on Wednesday.

The information “can be incorporated into war planning and help the Ukrainian army to assess the combat effectiveness and morale of Russian units or to check their positions,” Zeit wrote, describing it as the German contribution to the “turning point” on the battlefield.

Zeit also revealed that German spies fed the US some intelligence from Baghdad during the 2003 Iraq invasion. Berlin had officially declined to share information with Washington during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, reportedly to BND’s frustration. This time around, however, the spies unanimously decided that the “exceptional historical situation” warranted helping the Ukrainians.

Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) chief Bruno Kahl had met with his Ukrainian counterpart at the Munich Security Conference in February, and was in Kiev when the Russian “invasion” began, the magazine said.

The German government has a policy of not commenting on intelligence matters, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz continues to insist that Berlin is not a party to the conflict. Just to be on the safe side, the BND commissioned a legal analysis in May, and its lawyers said that sharing intelligence did not mean Germany was party to the war, under international law.

The question, according to Zeit, is whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would care for the German lawyers’ parsing of legal distinctions. The magazine’s sources argued that “Ukraine’s survival is at stake” and that “Putin only decides when to blame the West based on strategic considerations.”

Other NATO countries, such as the US and the UK, are helping Ukraine “much more offensively,” providing “real-time intelligence information that can be used for dynamic targeting.” While the Americans were initially reluctant to give Ukraine such “granular” data at first, this restriction was lifted “a few months” ago, Zeit said.

In May, the Washington Post published a report about US “rules” for intelligence-sharing, explaining how American spies would feed Ukraine information thattechnically stopped short of their definition of “targeting,” thereby making sure the US wasn’t held responsible for any Ukrainian attacks inside Russia.

As German spies told Zeit, the Kremlin chose not to make a fuss over Americans giving Ukraine “much more precise target coordinates.” According to the magazine, it was thisUS intelligence that made possible the sinking of the Russian cruiser Moskva in April and the killing of several Russian generals, though the White House has officially denied it.

“Putin knows what the role of intelligence services is. The chancellor and the BND just don't want to talk about it publicly,” wrote Zeit. Moreover, Russia has known about this for “a long time,” as the Ukrainian military is “riddled with Russian informants,” the German magazine added.

US to ‘deepen’ engagement in Indo-Pacific – VP

Joe Biden’s second-in-command meets Asia-Pacific leaders during her Tokyo stop, to discuss countering regional threats

US Vice President Kamala Harris reaffirmed Washington’s “ironclad commitment” to Japan's defense during her first official trip to the country on Monday. She met with the Japanese prime minister in Tokyo to discuss Beijing’s “provocations” in the Taiwan Strait.

Harris is leading a US delegation to the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated in July. Ahead of the ceremony, the second-ranking US official met Abe’s successor, Fumio Kishida. They discussed “China’s recent aggressive and irresponsible provocations in the Taiwan Strait” and condemned North Korea’s recent ballistic missile test, a readout released by the White House said.

On Tuesday, she also met South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who are representing their respective governments at the funeral. Seoul and Canberra are among Washington’s key partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

Before flying to Tokyo, Harris promised to use her trip to “reaffirm our commitments to our Allies and continue to deepen engagement” in the region.

Taiwan became a flashpoint in US-China relations early August, when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the self-governed Chinese island against Beijing's warnings. The Chinese government accuses Washington of challenging its sovereignty over Taiwan by nudging the local administration into separatism.

Harris described the US-Japan alliance as “a cornerstone of what we believe is integral to peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region,” during the public portion of the meeting at Tokyo’s Akasaka Palace.

The US has kept tens of thousands of troops in Japan since occupying the country during World War II. Abe, who served as prime minister in 2006-2007 and again in 2012-2020, was a key figure in pushing Japan away from its post-war pacifist stance and rebuilding its military. He was assassinated on July 8 during a campaign event on behalf of his conservative Liberal Democratic Party, which has dominated Japanese politics since 1955.

Prime Minister Kishida has doubled down on Abe’s military policy and is currently seeking a record defense budget of almost $40 billion for fiscal year 2023, potentially making Japan the third highest military spender in the world after the US and China.

Tokyo plans to spend the funds on stockpiling some 1,000 additional long-range missiles and otherwise beefing up its forces under an upcoming update of the national military strategy, according to local media.

Vice President Harris is set to travel from Japan to South Korea, where she will reportedly visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the border with North Korea. The last top-level US official to tour the DMZ was Pelosi, who went there last month, just after her controversial trip to Taiwan.
