The crew of an enormous Globemaster military transporter were left awestruck by a huge light in the sky that had all the hallmarks of an alien encounter, but the real reason was more incredible
The crew of a US military flight were left “dumbfounded” by unusual lights spotted in the sky.
Travelling on Saturday (September 24) Staff Sgt. Christian Magliocc said he and the crew saw a bloom of light from their aircraft's deck.
The 15th Airlift Squadron loadmaster said they were “confused” by the unidentified light, adding: "These pictures were taken at 37,000ft from the flight deck of a C-17 Globemaster III somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean.
"We saw it coming over the horizon and were really confused as to what it could be.
"At first we thought it was the Artemis Launch that keeps getting pushed back."
The head-scratching light was, it turns out, the launch of the latest SpaceX ship, taking off from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
"For us, the event lasted around ten minutes from start to finish. Truly a spectacle,” said Staff Sgt. Magliocca. “I’m a loadmaster on the C17 so my role is all things related to the cargo compartment of the aircraft.
"The pilots and my other load flying partner were absolutely dumbfounded.
"I think I speak for all of us when I say that we will never forget it for as long as we live."
Elon Musk’s SpaceX launched 52 new Starlink satellites on Saturday that will enter into a low orbit around the Earth.
