Sanctioning Russia is no longer enough for the US, which has now switched to sabotage, the president claimed

The US orchestrated the blasts on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, which delivered Russian natural gas to Germany, because they “obviously” benefit from it, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.

Putin accused Washington of trying to pressure the EU into banning Russian supplies to “completely get their hands on the European market.”

“But the sanctions are no longer enough for the Anglo-Saxons,” he said, using Russian shorthand for the US-UK transatlantic alliance. “They have turned to sabotage – it’s unbelievable, but it’s a fact – by organizing the explosions on the Nord Stream international gas pipelines,” the president stated.

“They de facto began the destruction of the common European energy infrastructure. It’s obvious to everyone who benefits from it. Those who benefit are the ones who have done it.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken denounced Putin's statement as part of “outrageous misinformation and disinformation campaigns” coming from Moscow.

“I really have nothing to say to the absurd allegation from President Putin that we are or other partners or allies are somehow responsible for this,” Blinken said, according to AFP.

Putin was speaking at the Kremlin ahead of signing treaties on the inclusion of the two Donbass republics, as well as Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, which declared independence from Ukraine, into the Russian Federation.

The Nord Stream pipelines lost pressure on Monday, after which four gas leaks appeared. The EU and several of its member states said the explosions were deliberate. Putin described the attack on Saturday as an act of terrorism.

Nord Stream 1 was already shut down due to prolonged maintenance when the leaks appeared. Russian operator Gazprom blamed the lengthy delay on Western sanctions that were imposed on Moscow following its military operation in Ukraine.

Nord Stream 2 was never fully operational because Germany halted certification of it in February in response to the Ukraine conflict.

Ignores that fact that China is the world’s biggest polluter

In an MSNBC interview Wednesday, Biden’s so called ‘climate car’ John Kerry refused to criticise China for being the globe’s biggest polluter, and instead defended the Communist state, reasoning that it has more electric vehicles than the U.S.

Kerry was asked about China’s repeated refusal to act in accordance with other nations in reducing carbon emissions.

“What can be done about China and their seeming reluctance to participate in affairs of climate control with other nations?” the host asked.

Kerry claimed that “China, interestingly enough … has a plan,” while admitting that “they could be doing more.”

Could be doing more? That’s some understatement. China is the biggest emitter of fossil fuel carbon dioxide emissions on the globe, accounting to close to A THIRD of all emissions.

China emits more greenhouse gas than the entire developed world combined, research by the Rhodium Group has concluded.

If you believe that is killing the planet, as Kerry claims he does, then China should be repeatedly criticised as the primary culprit.

Instead, Kerry lauded the communist state, further claiming that “more electric vehicles will be put on the road over the next year or so in China than in all of the rest of the world put together.”

“I’m not excusing China,” Kerry said, adding “I’m just telling you that China is moving to do additional things. They are deploying renewable power at a rate that exceeds all other nations, they are the largest manufacturer of renewables in the world, and so China is moving.”

Finland Interior Minister Collapses During Live Broadcast on Nord Stream Briefing

On Wednesday night, the live broadcast of the government briefing on the explosions on Nord Stream in Helsinki, Finland, was interrupted when the Finnish Interior Minister, Krista Mikkonen, suddenly collapsed.

Krista was standing at the far end of a row of podiums. She tried to walk away from the podium, and all of the sudden she suddenly fainted out of sight of the cameras. However, as two of her coworkers went to her aid to help her up, the cameras turned and captured the incident.

Later, she tweeted, “I had to leave the State Council briefing due to fainting. I’m fine now.”

There is currently no information available regarding the cause of her collapse.

Private texts between Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey made public

Court documents show Musk and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey discussed changes to the platform prior to the $44 billion buyout

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey had communicated privately about the social media platform well before the former made a $44 billion buyout offer, newly revealed court records show.

A set of text messages exchanged between the two appeared to show Dorsey having tried to get Musk onto Twitter’s board at least a year before the Tesla CEO offered to buy the company outright this past April.

In a text sent on March 26, 2022, Dorsey wrote to Musk that “a new platform is needed. It can’t be a company. That’s why I left.” He explained that he thinks Twitter should be an “open-sourced protocol” and can’t be based around an advertising model, as most social media companies are.

Musk replied by saying he would “like to help if I’m able,” to which Dorsey said that he had already tried to get the Tesla CEO involved with the company a year earlier. “You care so much, get its importance and could def help in immeasurable ways,” Dorsey told Musk before revealing that the “risk averse” board had rejected the idea.

Dorsey said that he thought it was “completely stupid and backwards” that the Twitter board saw the inclusion of Musk as adding “more risk” to the company and claimed that it was at this time he decided to step down as CEO of the platform, which he did in November 2021.

The text messages also suggest that Dorsey tried to get Musk to join the board while the company was battling with activist investor firm Elliott Management in 2020, whose founder Paul Singer was seeking to oust Dorsey as CEO and make Twitter’s business side more profitable. “Back when we had the activist come in, I tried my hardest to get you on our board and our board said no.” Dorsey wrote.

A little over a week after the text exchange, Musk announced that he planned to join the Twitter board. He eventually changed course and offered to buy the company outright in order to battle policies at the social media giant that he claimed were hostile to free speech.

However, after agreeing to purchase Twitter for $44 billion at $54.20 per share, Musk decided to back out of the deal a month later after the company’s stock price took a dive. Musk’s attorneys have argued that he had been misled about Twitter and have cited concerns about privacy, security, and the number of fake accounts on the platform.

Twitter is in turn suing the billionaire to try to force him to hold up his end of the agreement and complete the purchase at the initially proposed price. A trial is scheduled for mid-October at the Delaware Chancery Court.

FBI Refuses to Return Security Camera Footage of Bombing at Pro-Life Pregnancy Center — Has Made ZERO Arrests in Over 70 Attacks on Pro-Life Centers

Amherst police reportedly investigated the fire at CompassCare in Eggertsville as arson.

Fire officials say the firebombing caused at least $150,000 worth of damage to the structure, Buffalo News reported.

“Early this morning police and firefighters responded to smoke at CompassCare’s Buffalo office. The building was firebombed. The windows in the reception room and nurses’ office were broken and fires lit. Graffiti on the building left by the arsonists refers to the abortion terrorist group Jane’s Revenge reading, “Jane Was Here.”

“This is the pro-abortion ‘Kristallnacht.’ Because of this act of violence, the needs of women facing unplanned pregnancy will go unmet and babies will die. I wonder if Gov. Hochul will veto the Pregnancy Center Investigation Bill? I wonder if Attorney General Letitia James will investigate these cowardly criminals? CompassCare will rebuild because women deserve better. CompassCare will not stop serving because pre-born boys and girls deserve protection,” CompassCare CEO Jim Harden said.

Jane’s Revenge also took responsibility for vandalizing a DC crisis pregnancy center around that same time.

It has been months since the attack on the pro-life center. The FBI was given the security camera footage but is not investigating this political bombing. Paster James Harden asked for the FBI to return their security camera footage but the FBI refuses to turn it over to the pro-life group.

Virus Kills 100,000 Cattle in India, Threatens Livelihoods

NEW DELHI—A viral disease has killed nearly 100,000 cows and buffaloes in India and sickened over 2 million more.

The outbreak has triggered devastating income losses for cattle farmers since the disease not only results in deaths but can also lead to decreased milk production, emaciated animals, and birth issues.

The disease, called lumpy skin disease, is spread by insects that drink blood like mosquitoes and ticks. Infected cows and buffaloes get fevers and develop lumps on their skin.

Farmers have experienced severe losses from extreme weather events over the past year: a record-shattering heat wave in India reduced wheat yields in April, insufficient rainfall in eastern states like Jharkhand state shriveled parched winter crops such as pulses, and an unusually intense September rainfall has damaged rice in the north.

And now, the virus has spread to at least 15 states with the number of cow and buffalo deaths nearly doubling in three weeks, the Press Trust of India news agency reported.

“It’s a serious, serious issue and this (disease) … has been growing since the last couple of years,” said Devinder Sharma, an agriculture policy expert in northern Chandigarh city, adding that the government figures were likely an undercount of the actual death toll from the disease.

The first cases in South Asia were detected in 2019, and it has since spread to India, China, and Nepal. It was first recorded in Zambia in 1929 and has extended through Africa and more recently to parts of Europe.

Dairy is among the largest agricultural commodities in India, employing 80 million people and contributing to 5 percent of its economy, per federal data. It’s the world’s largest milk producer, making up more than a fifth of global production—but exports are only a fraction of this.

To try and protect the industry, authorities are vaccinating healthy cows using a shot designed for a similar disease while efforts are underway to develop a more effective vaccine.

India’s vast hinterland is now punctuated by mass graves of cows. In some places, the carcasses rot in the open and the pained cries of sick animals are resound in villages. Western Rajasthan state has seen the worst impact: 60,000 cattle dead and nearly 1.4 million sickened.

“The disease is contagious. It’s now shifting from the west to the east,” warned Narendra Mohan Singh, a director at Rajasthan state’s Animal Husbandry Department.

In bordering Uttar Pradesh state, India’s most populous, the trade and movement of cattle with neighboring states has been curbed. But farmers like Amarnath Sharma in Milkipur village say they have been left in the dark. Three of his five cows are sick and, while he has heard about the viral disease, he doesn’t know how to help his livestock.

“If these animals don’t get treatment, they’ll die,” he said.

Vladimir Putin Vows Destruction of ‘Satanic’ West in Ukraine Annexation Rant

Russian strongman Vladimir Putin marked the illegal annexation of a territory representing 15 percent of Ukraine on Friday with a rambling speech lamenting the fall of the Soviet Union, condemning gender transitions for children, and proclaiming, “the destruction of this Western hegemony is irreversible.”

Four regions of Ukraine – Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and the two regions of eastern Donbas, Donetsk and Luhansk – held wartime referendums throughout the past week asking civilians if they would like Russia to annex their land.

Reports on the ground indicated that soldiers went door-to-door in some regions clearly brandishing weapons and forcing citizens to vote in favor of the annexation, leading the vast majority of the free world to reject the referendum as a sham.

The pro-Russia leaders in all four areas claimed that an overwhelming number of participants, as many as 99 percent of voters in the Donbas, supported joining Russia.

The four leaders attended an event in Moscow on Friday in which Putin officially signed legal documents formalizing the colonization of those regions.

In a wide-ranging, often meandering speech, Putin welcomed the four Ukrainian regions as culturally, ethnically, and traditionally Russian.

“They made their choice and our common destiny and millennia of history are behind us,” Putin proclaimed. “These feelings cannot be destroyed by anyone, which is why older generations and the youth, those who remember the tragedy of the collapse of the Soviet Union voted for our unity, for our common shared future.”

Putin claimed that he was not pursuing the reconstruction of the Soviet Union, one of the bloodiest communist dictatorships in history.

“Russia today doesn’t need this [the restoration of the Soviet Union], we are not striving for this, but there is nothing stronger than the willingness of millions of people who culturally – in their faith and their language, in their traditions – consider themselves to be part of Russia,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Putin urged the Ukrainian government to consider peace talks with Russia in which Kyiv accepts Russia’s claims to a significant chunk of its land.

“I would like everyone, including the authorities in Kyiv and their real masters in the West, to hear me and remember that the people of [the four territories] are becoming our citizens. Forever,” Putin said. “We call on the Kyiv regime to immediately cease fire, cease all hostilities – the war it unleashed in 2014 and return to the negotiating table. We are ready for this.”

Putin refers to the administration of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “regime” because he deems the 2014 presidential elections in that country illegitimate, as then-President Petro Poroshenko took office after a popular rebellion ousted pro-Russian leader Viktor Yanukovych. Zelensky won the 2019 presidential election, which no party has denounced as unfree or unfair, against Poroshenko as the “pro-Russian” candidate – a reality Putin has yet to reconcile with his proclamations that Zelensky is a dictator.

Putin then launched into a tirade against Western society in general, referring to Western values as “Satanic.”

“The destruction of this Western hegemony is irreversible, the world will never be the same,” he insisted. “For great, historic Russia, for future generations, for our children and grandchildren we need to protect them from these experiments which aimed to break their soul and their consciousness. … We are fighting for our culture, for our language so that it’s impossible to cancel it and remove it from history.”

Truss Govt Pressures Pro-Brexit British Unionists in Northern Ireland to Accept EU Sell-Out

The Conservative Party-led British government is pressuring pro-Brexit, pro-British unionists in Northern Ireland to accept their ongoing sell-out to the European Union and form a regional government or face consequences.

Northern Ireland, sometimes referred to as Ulster, particularly by British Unionists in the Province, was left effectively still inside the European Union, at least for the purposes of customs and regulations, and even subject to an internal border between it and the Great British mainland in the Brexit deal agreed by Boris Johnson.

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which is the largest of the pro-British parties in Northern Ireland, fiercely opposed this as undermining their place in the United Kingdom, and ultimately refused to continue participating in the power-sharing government with pro-EU, Irish nationalist party Sinn Féin when London failed to rectify the situation — meaning no regional government at all.

Chris Heaton-Harris, the Liz Truss government’s Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, has now warned the DUP that if they do not form a regional government with Sinn Féin — something they have vowed they will not do until the so-called Northern Ireland Protocol is reformed — he will have a “legal obligation” to call another regional election, which may prove difficult for the DUP now the nationalist-leaning Catholic community outnumbers the unionist-leaning Protestant community for the first time.

“I’ll have to call an election on the 28th of October if there is no executive. That is just a fact,” he said, per POLITICO.

Prime Minister Liz Truss, though she campaigned energetically for the Remain in the European Union campaign in 2016, claims she has embraced Brexit and was pro-Brexit Conservative politicians’ candidate of choice for party leader in the race to replace Boris Johnson.

For all her supposed convert’s zeal, however, there appears little prospect that she will stand up to the EU on Northern Ireland imminently, despite evidence of significant disruption to GB-NI trade as a result of the way the Northern Ireland Protocol is being applied, with customs checks allegedly being carried out with disproportionate vigour by officials.

Indeed, demands from the DUP that the Protocol be unilaterally abolished or reformed, threatened by the British government in the face of EU intransigence for approaching two years, are unlikely to be lead to any action for at least another six months, with that being the latest deadline Truss has set for a compromise with Brussels to be reached.

Judge Overrules Special Master’s Demands to Trump in Document Review

A federal judge on Thursday set aside a measure imposed by a special master asking former President Donald J. Trump to certify the accuracy of the F.B.I.’s inventory of the property it had seized from his Florida estate last month, overruling an arbiter she had appointed herself.

The decision, included in a six-page order issued by Judge Aileen M. Cannon, was among several to ease demands by the special master, Judge Raymond J. Dearie. Under requirements he put in place in recent days, Mr. Trump’s lawyers would have been forced to test excuses they have made in connection with the trove of documents taken from his estate, Mar-a-Lago.

Judge Cannon also rejected a swift timetable Judge Dearie had set to resolve the review of the documents, slowing the matter down.

While the dueling moves and countermoves by the judges were procedural in nature, they reflected a larger struggle over who should control the rules of the review — and whom those rules would favor. In removing the restrictions the special master had sought to impose, Judge Cannon essentially let Mr. Trump and his legal team out of a box that Judge Dearie had tried to put them in.

Judge Dearie’s request that Mr. Trump’s lawyers certify by Friday the accuracy of the F.B.I.’s inventory — and indicate whether there was anything in it that agents had not taken from Mar-a-Lago — had put Mr. Trump and his lawyers in a bind. If they acknowledged that the bureau had found sensitive documents, the admission could be used as evidence against Mr. Trump.

Moreover, in public statements, Mr. Trump has repeatedly accused F.B.I. agents of planting evidence during their search. The certification that Judge Dearie requested would have required Mr. Trump’s lawyers to either disavow those claims or repeat them in court, where they could face professional consequences for lying.

Mr. Trump’s lawyers objected to that requirement, accusing Judge Dearie of going beyond what he had been authorized to do.

In her ruling on Thursday, Judge Cannon, a Trump appointee, sided with the former president, eliminating the stipulation about the inventory. Her initial order, she said, “did not contemplate that obligation.”

“There shall be no separate requirement on plaintiff at this stage, prior to the review of any of the seized materials,” she wrote.

As the judge who appointed the special master, Judge Cannon has the authority to overrule Judge Dearie. But she herself has partly been overruled as well: A federal appeals court in Atlanta exempted documents with classification markings from the special master’s review and allowed the Justice Department to continue using them in its investigation, blocking part of her original order.

Pentagon to Set Up a New Command for Arming Ukraine

The mission would be based in Germany to oversee training and the shipment of weapons

The US is planning to establish a new command base in Germany that will focus entirely on supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia, The New York Times reported on Thursday.

Establishing the command would be part of the Western effort to support Ukraine in the long term, as there are no signs that the war will be ending anytime soon. The command would oversee the arming and training of Ukrainian forces.

US officials told the Times that Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, the top US military officer in Europe, recently submitted a proposal to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on establishing the command. Austin is reviewing the plan and is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks, and the idea is said to be favored by the White House and the Pentagon.

The command would be led by a high-ranking US general and would carry out decisions made by the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, a coalition of about 40 countries that was established after Russia’s invasion. Austin has led meetings of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where he’s secured more support for Ukraine.

The command would be established in Wiesbaden, Germany, which is where most of the US training of Ukrainian troops has taken place. The command would also oversee other assistance to Ukraine that has been established elsewhere in Europe, including a mission in Poland where US troops help Ukraine maintain weapons remotely.

While President Biden has insisted no US troops will be sent to Ukraine, establishing a command solely for the purpose of supporting the war is a step in that direction. There’s no indication yet that the possibility is being discussed, but there is reportedly a CIA presence on the ground in Ukraine and some US allies have special operations forces deployed in Ukraine. Members of Congress have called for sending “military advisors” to Ukraine to facilitate the transfer of weapons.

The Think Tanks Advising Congress on Military Spending Take Money From the Arms Industry

The Senate is considering increasing the Pentagon’s budget to $850 billion. Think tanks are key advisers to the Senate on such increases — and a look at those think tanks’ funding reveals they’re all getting money from weapons manufacturers.

The Senate might vote on the fiscal year 2023 military budget this month. Or it might not; nobody’s sure. What’s for certain is that the bill the Senate considers will have at least as much as $850 billion for the Pentagon. In other words, we’re staring down a $72-billion year-to-year increase in military spending with this legislation: the FY 2022 version of the same bill (National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA) licensed $778 billion for the Pentagon.

How We Got to an $850-Billion Pentagon Budget

In March, Joe Biden proposed increasing annual military spending by $35 billion — to $813 billion —as part of his FY 2023 budget request. In June, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) added another $37 billion on top of that before advancing the $850 billion bill to the House floor for approval.

This decision was reportedly a matter of course for the committee. According to one HASC member, there was “almost no debate” on dumping another $37 billion on top of Biden’s own proposed increase. An overlooked reason why the committee’s move was so automatic was the “expertise” that made a $72 billion year-to-year increase seem appropriate or even natural.

Think tanks are said to be free from the ugly forces that bias in-house policy planning — namely, all the lobbying and campaign cash that encourage members of Congress to make decisions based on parochial interests and not the public’s. The problem is that establishment think tanks are corrupted by the same monied interests members of Congress are. In this case, we’re talking about the arms industry.

Every think tank represented in a House Armed Services Committee hearing to provide expert testimony from January 1, 2020, through September 16, 2022, that disclosed its donors received funding from military contractors (the one that didn’t disclose its donors was the hawkish American Enterprise Institute, AEI).

The result? Military contractors were able to launder their profit-driven interests through ostensibly nonpolitical institutions, while powerful lawmakers on the HASC got their parochially driven policy positions validated by ostensibly unbiased “expertise.”

But Ben Freeman pointed out to me that after some digging, you’ll find that AEI has taken money from the military industry by way of its board chair — meaning that all the think tanks advising US foreign policy are taking money from weapons manufacturers one way or another, and the chart above should be a solid yellow pie.

Gates Foundation boosts funding for Digital ID projects

To achieve that goal, digital identity programs are supposedly needed.

The 2019 Goalkeepers Report touted biometrics as one of the technologies needed for the equitable redistribution of resources in developing nations.

Amazon Adds Sleep Pattern Tracking To Its Surveillance Arsenal

Soon enough, a bedside Amazon device might know whether you’re sleeping — or not.

The e-commerce and tech giant said Wednesday it will start selling a device later this year that can track sleeping patterns without a wristband.

The device, called Halo Rise, will use no-contact sensors and artificial intelligence to measure a user’s movement and breathing patterns, allowing the device to track sleep stages during the night, the Seattle-based company said. Amazon said the device “does not include cameras or microphones,” and will go for $139.99.

The Halo Rise would be the latest device in Amazon’s Halo line, which includes a fitness tracker that can track physical activity and sleeping patterns. Amazon noted the device can connect with its virtual assistant, Alexa, and allow users to wake up to their favorite songs, and a light that “simulates the colors and gradual brightening of a sunrise.”

Amazon, which has faced scrutiny over its handling of consumer data, quickly offered assurances on Wednesday that the information in the Halo Rise device will be kept safe — saying the “health data is encrypted in transit and at rest in the cloud.”

“Amazon Halo health data is not used for marketing, product recommendations, or advertising, and never sold,” the company said.

Israel Elections Committee pans Arab party from running

The Israeli Central Elections Committee yesterday approved a motion to ban the National Democratic Assembly (Balad) from running in the upcoming Knesset elections.

The committee voted with nine ballots being placed to ban the party and five against the motion. The committee accuses Balad, led by MK Sami Abu Shehadeh, is "undermining Israel as a Jewish and democratic state" and "incitement to racism".

"The attempt this time to disqualify Balad is an attempt by [Israeli Defence Minister] Gantz and [Interim Prime Minister] Lapid to engineer an Arab leadership according to their political needs," Abu Shehadeh said in a statement, adding that this will fail.

"We in Tajammu' [Balad] are proud of supporting full equality and being against the [Israeli] occupation, and the one who should be ashamed is the one who supports the occupation and rejects equality," he continued.

He stressed that disqualifying the party is a "political decision" issued by a "political committee", which reflects the "correctness of the Assembly's [Balad's] rhetoric and political project".

Balad said the decision to disqualify it was politically motivated aimed to divide the Arab parties into "extremists and moderates", adding that Palestinian citizens of Israel will not abandon their national voice.

The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, Adalah, which represented Balad before the committee explained that this is not the first time that such a claim has been levelled at Balad, adding that the Supreme Court always quashes the decision.

Adalah added that it will appeal the committee's decision before the Supreme Court.

"The National Democratic Assembly is a political party and has the right to represent, elect and work for its voters," said Adalah Attorney Adi Mansour.

American Red Cross Under Scrutiny After Confessing It Does Not Separate Vaccinated from Unvaccinated Blood

The American Red Cross has been at the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic for nearly three years. Currently, it is performing a critical role in the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona, which ravaged the island of Puerto Rico.

But a recent exchange on social media has many unvaccinated people wondering if the American Red Cross is able to assist with a blood transfusion in the event of a personal emergency, while still respecting their wishes not to be exposed to the mRNA vaccines. Gavin Newsom signs potentially unconstitutional bill to make California a sanctuary for trans kids

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Thursday signed into law a bill designating his state as a sanctuary for gender-dysphoric children and teens seeking so-called "gender-affirming care."

Senate Bill 107, introduced by left-wing state Sen. Scott Wiener (D), offers a wide range of legal protections for transgender youths and their parents who come to California seeking hormone prescriptions or sex-reassignment surgeries that have been made illegal in other states.

In a signing statement, Newsom called policies restricting gender transition for minors hateful and accused conservative states of attempting to "demonize" transgender youths.

“In California we believe in equality and acceptance. We believe that no one should be prosecuted or persecuted for getting the care they need — including gender-affirming care,” Newsom said. “Parents know what’s best for their kids, and they should be able to make decisions around the health of their children without fear. We must take a stand for parental choice.”

The new law instructs California courts and attorneys to refuse to comply with out-of-state subpoenas, warrants, and child custody orders issued for individual minors or families seeking sex-change surgeries or cross-sex hormones.

The legislation also "prohibits the arrest or recognition of any demand for extradition of an individual that criminalizes allowing a person to receive or provide gender-affirming health care where that conduct would not be unlawful under California’s law," according to Wiener's press office. An out-of-state criminal arrest warrant for someone who violated another state's laws against providing gender transition services to children will be given "the lowest priority for law enforcement in California."

Wiener introduced the bill in response to at least 20 Republican-led states that have introduced legislation that would ban gender transition services for minors and penalize parents and health care providers who try to transition children.

Many of these attempts by Republican legislators to restrict gender transition for minors have been stalled in courts. In August, a federal appeals court blocked Arkansas from enforcing its ban on "gender-affirming care" for minors.

The California transgender sanctuary law may face similar legal challenges, according to the Los Angeles Times. Federal laws that require states to recognize out-of-state laws when residents travel could make the sanctuary law unconstitutional.

“We may have limits under the U.S. Constitution, but we are going to go right up to the edge of what we’re able to do to protect them and say, ‘Unless we are absolutely forced to send you back, we are not going to send you back,’” Wiener told the L.A. Times.

“We can’t solve everything in one bill. We’re making sure that people who are being criminalized have a place to go,” he added. “This bill is about giving people refuge.”

Conservative groups slammed the new law. The California Family Council said it encourages "medical child abuse."

"By signing this extreme bill, Gavin Newsom is telling all parents across the country that he knows what’s best for their children. Mothers and fathers in every state should demand their elected representatives push back against this unconstitutional assault on parental rights.
