yeah no then people would start infighting 5 minutes after because unless there is a common core guiding principle that the society shares there is no bedrock. This is what sadly government is designed to do keep the groups from the infighting but using a core principle like the constitution or even religion did serve that purpose but what is that basic principle we can all build on and at what point does that fall apart because the other divisions are too great?

that is incredibly naive. So two people like you said, they get to talking and after the pleasantries and such and maybe talking about the weather. They get deeper and one person thinks it is ok to kill a baby the other one is like oh hell no that makes you a murderer. A fight breaks out. This is way past political party or religion or race, it goes down to the very moral character that one has and remember these people we are going up against think they have the moral authority also. SO you are deeply wrong. Two people can be kind to each other on the surface level but once those moral divisions are visible then that is where things get tricky. There needs to be a deeper connection and as long as i have been thinking about it there is no answer.

ok yes, but anon said peace could be found quickly thinking there is common ground, my contention is there is no common ground any more. So being an asshole maybe it but it is not a foundation to which anything can be built or saved. So what is the option .
