Lousiana's legislature passed a bill to outlaw the mailing of abortion-inducing drugs

 

A measure outlawing the mailing of abortion-inducing drugs has passed the Louisiana legislature and is headed to the stateโ€™s governor, John Bel Edwards, for consideration.

 

Gov. Edwards is a Democrat who has previously signed pro-life bills that pass the state house into law. The Epoch Times reported that if the bill is signed it will go into effect on August 1.

 

The bill, S.B. 388, authored by Republican State Senator Sharon Hewitt underwent a series of amendments in the Louisiana House of Representatives before being approved 31-1 by the state Senate this past Friday.

 

If signed into law by Edwards, the measure will make it a crime for someone to knowingly cause an abortion by โ€œdelivering, dispensing, distributing, or providing a pregnant woman with an abortion-inducing drugโ€ if the person providing the chemical abortive is not a doctor licensed under state law to administer the drug to women.

 

The bill does not, however, penalize women who seek abortions.

 

The bill defines chemical abortives and abortion-inducing drugs as โ€œany drug or chemical, or any combination of drugs or chemicals, or any other substance when used with the intent to cause an abortion, including but not limited to RU-486, the Mifeprex regimen, misoprostol (Cyotec), or methotrexate.โ€

 

The proposed legislation also that the term โ€œabortion-inducing drugโ€ excludes any โ€œcontraceptive, an emergency contraceptive, or the use of methotrexate to treat an ectopic pregnancy.โ€

 

According to the billโ€™s text, if a person is found guilty of delivering, dispending, distributing, or providing chemical abortives, they โ€œshall be imprisoned at hard laborโ€ and could face hefty fines.

The Senate gun control agreement that emerged Sunday adds an โ€œinvestigative periodโ€ to some firearm background checks.

 

Breitbart News reported that the Senate agreement includes proposals such as a crackdown on straw purchases, funding to incentivize states to adopt, red flag laws, and deeper record searches for gun buyers under the age of 21, among other things.

 

The broadened record searches for gun buyers younger than 21 โ€œrequires an investigative period to review juvenile and mental health records.โ€

 

The agreement contains no stipulation for how long this โ€œinvestigative periodโ€ may last.

 

On February 28, 2019, NPR noted that House Democrats were pushing to change National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) checks so as to allow longer extended review periods.

 

The FBI conducts NICS checks on retail gun purchasers. The checks are designed to be completed quickly, but the FBI can take up to three business days to conduct the check if they believe they need to see more records. This means a NICS check either returns a pass or a fail, or it signals a need for an extended review of records.

 

On August 5, 2019, Business Insider noted that the Democrat-controlled House passed the Enhanced Background Checks Act to extend NICS reviews to ten days. The Republican-controlled Senate did not pass the Act.

Michael Flynn's brother was in a key Pentagon meeting during Jan. 6 Capitol siege, despite earlier denials

 

Lt. Gen. Charles Flynn, the Army's deputy chief of staff for operations and training โ€” and brother to disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn โ€” did participate in a critical Jan. 6 meeting to discuss deploying the National Guard to the besieged Capitol, The Washington Post reports. The Army had denied several times that Flynn was involved in the conference call at the Pentagon with Washington, D.C., officials and Capitol Police, the Post notes, but both Flynn and the Pentagon confirmed his presence on Wednesday.

 

During the tense meeting, D.C. officials and the Capitol Police chief had pleaded for the National Guard to help protect and clear the Capitol of violent rioters pushing to keep former President Donald Trump in office, but the Pentagon officials had stalled, worrying about the "optics" of having the National Guard at the Capitol. Charles Flynn told the Post he had "entered the room after the call began and departed prior to the call ending as I believed a decision was imminent" from Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy "and I needed to be in my office to assist in executing the decision." The National Guard arrived at the Capitol three hours after the call.

 

It made sense for Flynn to be in the meeting, given his position, but "the episode highlights the challenge for the Army in having an influential senior officer whose brother has become a central figure in QAnon, the extreme ideology that alleges Trump was waging a battle with Satan-worshiping Democrats who traffic children," the Post reports. Flynn had also urged Trump to declare martial law and was involved in the Jan. 6 events.

As of 6/1/22, Maps has visited Uvalde, TX, at least five times: Feb 2008, April 2011, July 2019, December 2021, and May 2022 (no later than 6/1/22, time of this Google Maps review). One of the things you can see on the street view is the date when the image was taken. As of 6/1/22, if you "walk" down the streets around Robb Elementary, two time lines of interest emerge: December 2021 and May 2022.

 

December 2021 sees an isolated path taken amidst earlier mapping (primarily April 2011 time line).

 

  • The mapping appears to start and stop within a collection of older street view mappings.

  • The path of the streets view pass three points of interest: the funeral home, the place where the truck was wrecked, and side of Robb Elementary where the shooter was purported to have entered the building.

  • The December 2021 path goes around the elementary school (North and East sides), segments terminating at the edge of the parking lots.

  • Can't say for certain, but the December 2021 path appears to terminate into a May 2022 path, US Hwy 83.

  • While it cannot be immediately known when the May 2022 was created, it was done at latest by the time of the shooting.

 

As of 6/5/22, something unusual occurs.

 

  • If you traverse the North and East sides of the school in Google Maps, the dates are all now May 2022, whereas before they where April 2011.

  • A new May 2022 route now exists, having one segment in common: North side of Robb Elementary, two blocks from Perez St. to Old Carrizo Rd.

  • The new route (May 2022) starts in the same place as the earlier route (December 2021): Evans St., sharp left back on Nicolas St. (runs parallel to drainage ditch, same one car crashed into), turns right onto Geraldine.

 

What're the odds a certain company sends out a car twice in one month to remap the same segment of road? Why map this in May, same month as the shooting, when you've already mapped the main drag earlier in the same month, not re-map side roads, and when they'd already captured those streets in December, six months earlier?? One would think that a company basically known for AI shit would've heard of the "traveling salesman problem" and not mapped the same place twice in six months??

 

Was the initial mapping in December to get fixed landmarks for a certain three-letter-agency's plane that visited?

ATLANTA (AP) โ€” The Georgia prosecutor investigating the conduct of former President Donald Trump and his allies after the 2020 election is trying to compel U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and other members of Trump's campaign legal team to testify before a special grand jury.

 

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Tuesday filed petitions with the judge overseeing the special grand jury as part of her investigation into what she alleges was โ€œa multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump Campaign to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.โ€

 

Willis also filed petitions for five other potential witnesses: lawyers Kenneth Chesebro, Cleta Mitchell, Jenna Ellis, John Eastman and Jacki Pick Deason. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney signed off on the requests, which are similar to subpoenas, deeming them necessary to the investigation.

 

The special grand jury has been investigating whether Trump and others illegally tried to meddle in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia as he desperately tried to cling to power after Democrat Joe Biden's victory. Trump continues to insist that the election was stolen, even as he eyes another presidential run, despite the fact that numerous federal and local officials, a long list of courts, top former campaign staff and even Trump's own attorney general have all said there is no evidence of the fraud he alleges.

 

The investigation is separate from the congressional committee that has been examining the events surrounding the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 as well as the Department of Justice's own sprawling probe.

 

The escalation comes as Trump mulls announcing a third presidential run as soon as this summer as he seeks to deflect attention from the ongoing investigations and lock in support before a long list of other potential candidates, such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, make their own moves.

 

Willis, who took this unusual step of requesting a special grand jury earlier this year, has confirmed that she and her team are looking into a January 2021 phone call in which Trump pushed Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to โ€œfindโ€ the votes needed for him to win the state. She also has said the team is looking at a November 2020 phone call between Graham and Raffensperger, the abrupt resignation of the U.S. attorney in Atlanta on Jan. 4, 2021, and comments made during December 2020 Georgia legislative committee hearings on the election.

 

In the petition submitted to the judge, Willis wrote that Graham actually made at least two telephone calls to Raffensperger and members of his staff in the weeks after the November 2020 election. During those calls, Graham asked about reexamining certain absentee ballots โ€œin order to explore the possibility of a more favorable outcome for former President Donald Trump,โ€ she wrote.

 

A Graham spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

 

In the petition for Giulianiโ€™s testimony, Willis identifies him as both a personal attorney for Trump and โ€œa lead attorney for the Trump Campaignโ€™s legal efforts seeking to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere.โ€

 

As part of those efforts, she wrote, he and others appeared at a state Senate subcommittee hearing at the Georgia Capitol on Dec. 3, 2020, and โ€œprovided testimony, additional witnesses, and documentary evidence purporting to demonstrate the existence of election fraud in multiple Georgia countiesโ€ during the November 2020 election. None of that has been substantiated.

 

Among the โ€œevidenceโ€ Giuliani offered was a video recording of election workers at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, which he alleged showed them producing โ€œsuitcasesโ€ of unlawful ballots from unknown sources, outside the view of election poll watchers, Willis wrote.

Judicial Watch Uncovers Dozens of Records of Illegal Molecular Research Reported to NIH

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it received 2369 pages of records (see links at the bottom for docs) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) revealing over two dozen cases whereresearch involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid (r/sNA) moleculeswas conducted in America without proper approval and in violation of NIH guidelines.

 

Recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid (r/sNA) molecules are constructed outside of living cells. The molecules are made by joining DNA or RNA segments (natural or synthetic) to DNA or RNA molecules that can replicate within a living cell. They may also result from replication of previously constructed recombinant molecules.

 

NIH guidelines detail safety practices and containment procedures for basic and clinical research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules โ€“ including the creation and use of organisms and viruses containing recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules. These guidelines require that any significant problems, violations, or any significant research-related accidents and illnesses be reported to NIH within 30 days.

 

The documents further showed that the research, which occurred atBiosafety Level 1/2/3 laboratories, led to dozens of dangerous mishaps, accidents, and spills.

 

Judicial Watch obtained the records in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to NIH asking for:

Any and all records maintained by the National Institutes of Health including memoranda, draft memoranda, reports, email communications, email chains, data compilation, and other communications regarding or documenting accidents, incidents, illnesses and hazards identified concerning (i) recombinant nucleic acid molecules, (ii) synthetic nucleic acid molecules, including those that are chemically or otherwise modified but can base pair with naturally occurring nucleic acid molecules, and (iii) cells, organisms, and viruses containing such molecules research which was conducted at Biosafety Level (BSL) 2, BSL 3 or BSL 4 laboratories, including government owned facilities, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, private laboratories, university laboratories, international laboratories and State public health laboratories.

 

Nearly 100 r/sNA incidentswere reported to the NIH through their email system, the following are incidents that were reported with the subject line, โ€œNIH Guidelines.โ€

 

In an email on February 12, 2020, Biosafety Officer for the University of Nebraska โ€“ Lincoln Dr. Matt Anderson reports an incident that began in March 2018 whereinDr. Shi-Hua Xiang created an HIV pseudo viruscontaining Marburg glycoprotein M78 in a university Biosafety Level 2 laboratory, for which he did not have authorization.

 

The incident was discovered during a pathogen inventory, and Xiang was told to cease any further work. During the investigation, it was determined that Xiang was assisted by student researchers and that the experiment had continued until enough virions were created to complete the experiments that were testing novel peptide inhibitors of viral entry. The report states that Xiang completed NIH Guidelines training in 2012, 2018 and 2019 on responsibilities of obtaining approval prior to engaging in these types of experiments. This research was funded by NIH under contract 1R2 1AI126299-01A1.

 

In an email on April 19, 2020, Chairman of the Institutional Biosafety Committee of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY, Dr. Michael Glickman reports an incident at his facility where aninvestigator was conducting unauthorized researchconstructing recombinant Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) expressing spike proteins from SARS-COV-2 in violation of NIH Guidelines.

 

Upon discovery, the investigator was ordered to immediately halt the unapproved research. It was determined during the investigation that recombinant viruses had been generated and must be destroyed immediately. The report did not mention the Biosafety Level of the laboratory involved. Yet another dubious fact check. But this one is even weirder than the last.

 

A PolitiFact โ€œfact checkerโ€ who has attempting to discredit National Pulse reporting on mask mandates and recent medical journal papers has almost zero experience in real news reporting, medical reporting, COVID-19 reporting, or even national news, The National Pulse can reveal.

 

The information is the latest in a slew of โ€œfact checkerโ€ stories which reveal dubiously credentialed individuals working to remove anti-Big Pharma content from the internet at the behest of big tech companies and their sponsors in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Floridian liberal Gabrielle Settles appears to have begun working for Politifact in March 2021, bylining at least 70 stories for the corporate-backed censor.

 

Settles, however, has no experience in dealing with any of this kind of information, having performed the majority of her โ€œfact checksโ€ simply by copying and pasting from the Centers for Disease Control website, and even veering off into โ€œfact checkingโ€ pictures of Christmas cards and photos of singer Rihanna.

 

Prior to Politifact, Settles worked at a small, St. Petersburg outfit called โ€œThe Weekly Challengerโ€, and prior to that, as an โ€œOffice Administratorโ€ at โ€œMoody Radioโ€ and a โ€œcontributing writerโ€ at a blog called โ€œThe Power Broker Magazine.โ€ The sites receive almost zero web traffic.

 

In fact, Settlesโ€™s journalistic contributions are extremely limited. But naturally, her contributions to partisan rhetoric are not.

 

The Politifact โ€œreporterโ€ โ€“ a job which includes no actual reporting โ€“ has a history of pro-Democrat and anti-Trump tweets. Naturally, she took umbrage with The National Pulseโ€™s story on masks and deaths, derived from two separate stories of May 16th and May 26th.

 

In the first, Natalie Winters reveals how Beny Spira, Associate Professor at the University of Sรฃo Paulo, published an April 19th 2022 study โ€œanalyz[ing] the correlation between mask usage against morbidity and mortality rates in the 2020-2021 winter in Europe.โ€

 

The data came from 35 European countries, and concluded:

 

โ€œThe findings presented in this short communication suggest that countries with high levels of mask compliance did not perform better than those with low mask usage in the six-month period that encompassed the second European wave of COVID-19โ€ฆโ€

 

The study also found:

 

โ€œMoreover, the moderate positive correlation between mask usage and deaths in Western Europe also suggests that the universal use of masks may have had harmful unintended consequencesโ€ฆโ€

 

But Settles found this particular science to be โ€œFalseโ€ and as a result, the National Pulse story is now being censored on social media. Settlesโ€™s source appears to be a singular professor from the corporate-backed Milken Institute for Public Health at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Her name is Emily Smith.

 

But Smith didnโ€™t even tell Settles that Spiraโ€™s study was incorrect. She is quoted as saying:

 

โ€œI think we can just use common sense to say that when cases are rising, people are more likely to do protective thingsโ€ฆ Youโ€™re more likely to wear a mask when you go out and your city or your country might also have made recommendations or requirements to do those things.โ€

 

In other words, Smith is claiming that the mask usage and deaths is an inverse correlation, though she offers no evidence, nor science, nor refutation of the science offered. Instead, Smith suggests using โ€œcommon senseโ€ โ€“ a phrase oft-derided when used by anti-authoritarian activists at the beginning of the pandemic.

 

Smith, for what it is worth, is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as revealed on her university biography.

European Parliament Condemns American Supreme Court over Abortion

 

The European Parliament passed a resolution condemning the United States Supreme Court over abortion after a leaked opinion suggested that Roe v Wade could be overturned at the federal level.

 

In a preemptive strike before the American Supreme Court has even had a chance to rule on the legal future of abortion, globalists in the European Unionโ€™s so-called parliament passed a measure on Thursday by a margin of 364 to 154 (37 abstentions) to โ€œremindโ€ the United States that it is โ€œvitalโ€ to uphold Roe v Wade.

 

โ€œMEPs [Members of the European Parliament] condemn the backsliding in womenโ€™s sexual and reproductive health and rights worldwide including in the U.S. and some EU countries, calling for safe access to abortion,โ€ the lawmakers said.

 

Croatian socialist MEP Predrag Matiฤ‡ added: โ€œThe draft opinion of the Supreme Court of the United States is a shock and a nightmare.โ€

 

The resolution also targeted individual U.S. states for introducing limits on abortion access, such as Texas, which under its heartbeat bill has banned abortion after six weeks, when unborn babies begin to develop their own distinct heartbeat.

 

MEPs went on to malign the idea of individual U.S. states being allowed to determine their own abortion policies, which would be the case should the federal Roe diktat be removed, claiming that it would disproportionately impact women in poverty who may find it difficult to travel to another state to abort their baby.

 

Apparently not understanding how American republicanism operates as a governmental system, the EU parliament went on to call on President Joe Biden to โ€œensure access to safe and legal abortion,โ€ despite the President having no legal authority to do so.

 

The globalist body also curiously claimed that Roe v Wade โ€œprotects the right to abortion in the U.S. Constitution,โ€ even though there is no mention whatsoever of abortion in Americaโ€™s founding documents.

 

Noting the apparent ignorance of the EU lawmakers, German right-wing MEP Christine Anderson, who opposed the measure, commented: โ€œThe USA is no longer a colony ruled from Europe. Didnโ€™t you know that?โ€

The unprecedented leak of the draft opinion on Roe in May has led to widespread threats of violence and extremism from the left in the United States, with a California man being arrested with a weapon outside of the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, where activists have appeared in an apparent attempt to influence the potential ruling.

 

While protesting outside of justicesโ€™ homes is illegal in the United States, the Biden administration has so far failed to condemn these acts of leftist extremism, with former press secretary Jenn Psaki even seemingly encouraging abortion activists to protest outside the homes of judges.

 

Though the vast majority of European Union member-states have legalised abortion, there are some outliers, including Malta โ€” home to the pro-life President of the EU Parliament. Roberta Metsola โ€” and Poland, which has severely limited the ability to abort babies.

 

The resolution passed by the EU Parliament on Thursday also demanded that such states conform to the whims of the Brussels establishment and rescind their abortion laws.

Social Media Posts Could Lead to Gun Confiscation Under Proposed Red Flag Law

 

โ€œRed flag laws allow us to take action when someone who has a gun begins to act erratically,โ€ Governor Wolf posted. In the social media age, this could include in online posts. โ€œRed flag laws still require due process, and any removal of weapons is temporary,โ€ Governor Wolf continued.

 

Governor Wolf rebuked Republicans in the House Judiciary Committee for refusing to approve what he called โ€œcommonsenseโ€ bills addressing gun violence in the state.

 

Instead of voting to move the four bills to the House for debate, Republicans on the Judiciary committee forced a vote to refer the bills to another committee.

 

โ€œShameful. Thatโ€™s what Iโ€™d call todayโ€™s action โ€“ or, rather, inaction,โ€ Governor Wolf said. โ€œLawmakers have an opportunity to take commonsense steps, which the majority of Pennsylvanians support. Instead of taking a vote to advance these bills, they are just delaying debate on this legislation. Gun violence wonโ€™t delay. Every day the Republicans stall, more people are at risk.

 

โ€œThis isnโ€™t just a โ€˜Philadelphiaโ€™ issue. This is a statewide and national issue that must be addressed. Itโ€™s reprehensible that Republicans continue to stall when our own constituents want this addressed right now,โ€ Governor Wolf said. โ€œI urge Republicans to stop these tactics and take action.โ€

 

Last week, Governor Wolf sent a letter to the members of the committee calling on them to approve the four bills as they are.

 

โ€œI have committed to doing everything I can to bring peace to our communities, but ultimately, sensible gun laws save lives, and the General Assembly must act to make statutory changes,โ€ Governor Wolf said. โ€œCommunities across the commonwealth โ€“ urban, suburban and rural โ€“ have experienced the horror of gun violence. We must do our part to prevent these tragedies.โ€

 

The letter also alleged that the bills are not meant to take guns away from law-abiding citizens but doesnโ€™t touch on how a social media post with photos of guns could be illegal.

 

โ€œIf the aforementioned bills became law, they would not infringe upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners. This is not about taking guns away from those who lawfully own and operate them, itโ€™s about ensuring guns are appropriately locked up and kept out of the hands of those who are more apt to cause harm.โ€

 

The governor concluded: โ€œWe can no longer afford to do nothing. Every day that we delay, lives are on the line. Pennsylvanians are counting on you.โ€

Comite De Bien Estar is a multifaceted community development organization that strives to both improve and serve our community of San Luis Arizona and its surrounding areas. Founded mostly by farm workers in 1979 and incorporated in 1981, Comitรฉ is a membership driven non-profit that focuses on helping members build assets and strengthen the community through programs that fill needs in the community such as: Nutrition program, Self Help Housing, Construction, Low Income Tax Credit Based Apartment Housing Management and Development, Small consumer & entrepreneurial loans and many more needed services.

 

Comitรฉ is located in San Luis, Arizona. San Luis is a town of about 30,000 people in Yuma County in the southwestern corner of the state where agriculture is the major industry. The city is just across the river from California and borders with San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora Mexico, population 250,000, many of its residents work in multinational maquiladoras or agriculture. During the height of the Yuma harvesting season, 30,000 to 40,000 farm workers cross the border each morning to go to work making the San Luis US Border Crossing one of the busiest in the country.

 

The public schools that its land development makes possible; the training it provides for young people and adults; the work ethic it cultivates; the skills it imparts to entire families building self-help housing and the self-help culture Comite promotes makes me feel it will improve the life of its members and community. As an example, Comiteโ€™s nutrition program supports more than 360 daycare providers to provide nutritious meals for approximately 2160 children each month. Firearm retailers willingly cooperate with ATF special agents on suspect attempts to purchase firearms. They are often the ones providing tips to special agents on suspected straw purchases. Now, those same retailers are forced to consider the consequences of inviting ATF into their retail locations. When a potential tip to criminal activity by a random person wandering into their store could result in a business owner losing a license and income, that threatens the ability of the ATF to enforce the law.

 

Thatโ€™s got special agents in the field concerned. Agents in ATF field offices who chose to remain anonymous have told NSSF the โ€œzero toleranceโ€ policy will do more harm than good. It will dry up their most valuable source of intelligence on criminal activity โ€” the local gun store owner who wants criminals to be locked up.

 

Now, owners are forced to consider the unintended consequences of trying to do the right thing. Tips of suspect activity could lead to an inspection and a misplaced entry in a record book could put that gun store owner out of business.

 

Thereโ€™s little reason to believe the policies will be reversed. The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee questioned President Bidenโ€™s nominee to become ATF director, Steve Dettelbach, in a confirmation hearing last week. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) confronted Dettelbach about the โ€œzero toleranceโ€ policy and the Biden administrationโ€™s policy of rooting out โ€œrogue dealers.โ€ Dettelbach demurred on defining a โ€œrogue dealer,โ€ adding only that federal firearm license revocations should be reserved for โ€œwillful violationsโ€ and not โ€œinadvertent errors.โ€

 

โ€œThe key to enforcement programs, it has to be fair, it has to be consistent, and it has to be effective,โ€ Dettelbach told Sen. Grassley. The Biden administrationโ€™s โ€œzero toleranceโ€ policy to decimate firearm retailers is proving to be counterproductive.

NIH Working To Keep Taxpayers In The Dark by Stalling On Fauci Docs: Transparency Advocate

 

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is attempting to keep money spent on things like Dr. Anthony Fauciโ€™s salary, the highest-paid U.S. government employee, hidden from members of the public, according to a transparency advocate.

 

โ€œThere is a multi-layered strategy, funded by taxpayers, to keep taxpayers in the dark about how NIH is spending taxpayer money,โ€ Adam Andrzejewski, CEO and founder of OpenTheBooks.com, told Epoch TVโ€™s โ€œAmerican Thought Leaders.โ€

 

Andrzejewskiโ€™s watchdog group discovered how much Fauci was getting paid and that he received a permanent pay bump in the early 2000s in part to prevent him from leaving the government.

โ€œTheyโ€™re not complying with open records law,โ€ Andrzejewski said, triggering the suit and dozens of others from various groups.

 

The NIH said it did not violate the law. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, an Obama appointee, ordered the parties to try to work out a solution. The parties agreed to a production schedule of 300 pages a month but so far, the produced pages have amounted to โ€œvirtually nothing of any value,โ€ Andrzejewski said, in part because some of the pages have been largely redacted.

 

Fauci has directed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. The institute, part of the NIH, did not respond to a request for comment.

 

Andrzejewski, who was removed as a Forbes contributor because of his reporting on Fauci, said he expects to see waivers for conflicts of interest, including a waiver regarding the doctorโ€™s wife, Christine Grady, because she is the chief bioethics official at NIH.

 

The documents being sought โ€œshould be immediately released by the NIH,โ€ he added.

 

โ€œWe shouldnโ€™t be having to engage in expensive litigation to open the books on Dr. Anthony Fauci or even to call for a nice repository of all the ethical studies from his wife, Christine Grady. All of this should be opened up. And this has public policy implications. If the Republicans take control the House, there is going to be endless oversight investigations of this entire COVID-19 response, with Dr. Fauci at the nexus of that hurricane. And so right now, they should get out in front of all of it and just open the books on everything, so the politicians, the pundits, the media, the people, so we can see how the sausage was made from A to Z.โ€

"An elected sheriff and his people are collaborating with a convicted sex offender, a person I'm prosecuting for rape," said County Attorney David Leavitt on Friday. "They're working together to discredit me."

 

Leavitt's latest comments in a 2News interview followed his statements made Wednesday that Utah County Sheriff Mike Smith "recycled a report" in an investigation into old,"laughable" and debunked claims that Leavitt and his wife were linked to a "murder" and "cannibalism" case.

 

Leavitt called Smith a "QAnon cop,"and the county attorney said he's being targeted because he's been a "check" on police power, and has pushed taking cases to trial instead of reaching plea deals.

 

Even more strange is the alleged role of Arthur Knight, whom Leavitt said is also known as Nicholas Rossi.

 

Utah County prosecutors charged Rossi in 2020 with a rape that occurred 14 years ago in Orem. The probable cause statement said a rape test kit showed DNA swabs matched Rossi.

 

On Friday,Arthur Knight โ€” who said he lives in Scotland โ€” held a Zoom news conference with Utah media.

 

Knight claimed he is not Rossi, has never been to the United States, let alone Utah, and is fighting extradition here on the rape charge โ€” but seemed to have keen interest in the Utah County Attorney's race.

 

"Mr. Leavitt has continued to victimize me," said Rossi, who spoke through an oxygen mask, which his wife said he needs after a bout of COVID-19. He accused Leavitt of "building a wall of bricks made of lies."

 

Knight has been a prolific user of Twitter, with numerous posts critical of Leavitt and a website that also delved into the county attorney.

 

2News reached out to Utah County Sheriff's Office on Leavitt's allegation that it's in league with Rossi/Knight.

 

"We are not collaborating with, nor does Nicholas Rossi/Arthur Knight have anything to do with this investigation," it responded. Earlier this week, the sheriff's office revealed the investigation is looking into ritualistic sex abuse.

 

As if the circumstances could not be more unusual, โ€˜โ€™โ€™Leavitt said an attorney he forced to resign from the Utah County Attorney's Office for taking Jazz tickets from a defense lawyer now "represents Nicholas Rossiโ€™โ€™โ€™ as his defense attorney."

 

Jeff Gray, who is running against Leavitt in the GOP primary on June 28, said Knight contacted him several weeks ago to help in his campaign.

 

"I couldn't understand a word he was saying," Gray said, adding he thinks Sheriff Smith is "an outstanding guy" who "didn't divulge any details that involved David Leavitt."

Seventy years ago this coming Monday, Arthur M. Thurston was officially named legal attachรฉ of the U.S. Embassy in wartime London. Three months earlier, on November 16, 1942, he had, at the invitation of U.S. Ambassador John Winant, opened the office for liaison purposes in the 1 Grosvenor Square embassy. Now, as โ€œlegat,โ€ Thurston was already highly connected with his colleagues in MI-5 and MI-6.

It was a fearful time to be in London (see sidebar below), but an enormously productive time as well. British intelligence had developed Ultraโ€”which intercepted and later decoded radio and cable messages sent by the Nazis to their clandestine networks worldwide. Thurston was given access to the decrypted messages in January 1943 and, under the codename Ostrich, forwarded intelligence to FBI Headquarters that related to possible German espionage in the United States. Ultimately, Ostrich would crucially assist our mandated intelligence operations in South America, control movement of double agents, and penetrate German intelligence. Postwar, there would be crucial legat assistance and liaison in the Klaus Fuchs exposรฉ. Even by 1951, when the office was staffed with a single agent and two clerks, Legat John Cimperman was putting in 11-plus hour days and had 235 open cases that were pending resolution. Gamely, he described that time as โ€œan unusually light period.โ€

Life During Wartime

World War II was a difficult and dangerous time for the FBIโ€™s new overseas office in London. In the words of then-Legal Attachรฉ Thurston: โ€œDuring these three periodsโ€”air raids, flying bombs, and V2 rocketsโ€”the Bureauโ€™s office in the American Embassy continued to function. The flying bombs that flew over the Embassy in the daytime were viewed from the office windows. At night, the German raiders were observed from hotel windows or from the street and to the tune of anti-aircraft and rocket guns situated in all the parks and atop strategic buildings. The nearest approach to disaster was during the V2 rocket period, when a rocket fell at Marble Arch. In addition to killing several people, the residence quarters of Bureau representatives was made a mass of flying glass and shattered doors, but no casualties apart from a commode which the blast ricocheted off the wall and struck one of the representatives in bedโ€”but even this only resulted in a broken commode handle.โ€

And so began the friendships and cooperative relationships between the FBI and British law enforcement and intelligence services that flourish to this day.

Today, Legat London is staffed with Legal Attachรฉ Scott Cruse, a deputy and five assistant legats, an intelligence analyst, and four office administrators. And guess what? They are still putting in 11-plus hour days. It is an incredibly busy and intense office, thanks to a world in turmoil.

Yesteryearโ€™s threats of wartime and postwar espionage have given way to 21st century threats to national securityโ€”notably international terrorism, the FBIโ€™s top priority. And without the help of our international partners, we could not be successful.

Consider the recent extradition of five alleged terrorists from Mildenhall Royal Air Force Base in the U.K. on October 5, 2012. Following U.S. charges, all had been arrested by our British colleaguesโ€”one in 1998, one in 1999, and three in 2004. All fought extradition in the U.K. and, when that failed, all appealed to the European Court of Human Rights on the grounds that, among other things, U.S. sentences were too long. After they had exhausted all appeals, Legat London worked with the U.K.โ€™s Crown Prosecution Service and the London Metropolitan Police Serviceโ€™s SO15 counterterrorism branch and extradition unitโ€”not to mention with our U.S. military and federal partnersโ€”to coordinate the high-profile transport of Abu Hamza Al-Masri, Adel Abdel Bary, and Khalid Al-Fawwaz to New York City and Syed Talha Ahsan and Babar Ahmadto New Haven, Connecticut.

We thank our partners in the U.K. every single day for sharing information that protects both of our countries and brings terrorists and criminals to justice. Michael S. Chelom Leavitt received her PhD from Penn State. She is an Assistant Professor at Brigham Young University. She studies healthy sexuality in committed relationships and focuses on how mindfulness during sex may be associated with positive outcomes for both men and women. Dr. Leavittโ€™s work on sexual mindfulness included an intervention to teach couples how to be mindful during sexual experiences. This research taps into how the sexual experience is full of meaning, emotions, as well as physical sensations.

A little more than a year into his papacy, Pope Francis seems to be speaking loudest about economic injustice, alternatively denouncing โ€œtrickle-downโ€ economics and calling over and over again for a โ€œpoor church for the poor.โ€ Francisโ€™ supporters and opponents alike often blame this particular attitude on one source: liberation theology.

 

Broadly speaking, liberation theology is a social and political movement within the church that attempts to interpret the gospel of Jesus Christ through the lived experiences of oppressed people. While that doesnโ€™t necessarily seem like it should be a cause of contention in the church, it has, in the 60 or so years that it has been practiced and thought, caused a tremendous amount of controversy.

 

Liberation theology has its origins in Latin America in the mid-1950s as socio-economic development pushed the peasant workers and farming populations into desperate poverty. With the economic unrest came political unrest, and military dictators took over many governments in the name of national security.

 

While these social and political transformations were taking place, the church as a whole was also moving toward a more socially oriented mission. Laypeople, religious, and charismatic members of the hierarchy committed themselves to working with the poor.

 

The final piece of the puzzle, and the one that caused most of the controversy, was that some strains of liberation theology used Marxist economic theory, applying it to the gospel. In this interpretation, Jesus becomes the โ€œliberatorโ€ and always is firmly on the side of the poorest of the poor. Because of this preference for the poor, liberation theology often calls for reorganization of social, governmental, and economic structures so that the poor are not merely cared for, but brought into the fullness of human flourishing. The seminal work on liberation theology was written by Dominican Father Gustavo Gutiรฉrrez in 1971. A Theology of Liberation gave the movement its name, and emphasized the churchโ€™s mission to those on the periphery of society.

Today, Home Secretary Priti Patel approved Julian's extradition to the US, but that is not the end of the road - we will continue to fight for his freedom and we know we can rely on your continued support.

Here is the statement I gave to media outlets today:

 

"This is a dark day for Press freedom and for British democracy. Anyone in this country who cares about freedom of expression should be deeply ashamed that the Home Secretary has approved the extradition of Julian Assange to the United States, the country that plotted his assassination.

Julian did nothing wrong. He has committed no crime and is not a criminal. He is a journalist and a publisher, and he is being punished for doing his job.

It was in Priti Patelโ€™s power to do the right thing. Instead, she will forever be remembered as an accomplice of the United States in its agenda to turn investigative journalism into a criminal enterprise.

Foreign laws now determine the limits of press freedom in this country and the journalism that won the industryโ€™s most prestigious prizes has been deemed an extraditable offence and worthy of a life sentence. The path to Julianโ€™s freedom is long and tortuous. Today is not the end of the fight. It is only the beginning of a new legal battle. We will appeal through the legal system; the next appeal will be before the High Court. We will fight louder and shout harder on the streets, we will organise and we will make Julianโ€™s story known to all.

Make no mistake, this has always been a political case. Julian published evidence that the country trying to extradite him committed war crimes and covered them up; tortured and rendered; bribed foreign officials; and corrupted judicial inquiries into US wrongdoing. Their revenge is to try to disappear him into the darkest recesses of their prison system for the rest of his life to deter others from holding governments to account.

We will not let that happen. Julian's freedom is coupled to all our freedoms. We will fight to return Julian to his family and to regain freedom of expression for us all".

The inquiry includes examination of former President Trump's awareness of and involvement in activities undertaken to subvert the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, including the submission of fake electoral ballots to Congress and the executive branch, the attempted appointment of Jeffrey Clark as acting Attorney General, and efforts to interfere with the Congressional certification of the electoral results on January 6, 2021. Our investigation has revealed credible evidence that you have information concerning these and other issues within the scope of the Select Committee's inquiry.

 

Accordingly, the Select Committee seeks a deposition regarding these matters. You previously sat for an informal interview with the Select Committee on April l3, 2022; as explained to you in that interview, the Select Committee reserved the right to request additional testimony from you on the record. In the weeks since, the Select Committee has continued to obtain evidence about which you are uniquely positioned to testify; unfortunately, however, you have declined to cooperate with us further, including by providing on-the-record testimony. We are left with no choice but to issue you this subpoena.

TOOMEY: Yeah, the problem is I think the President might have been a president who would reach across the aisle try to bring people together. But heโ€™s chosen not to take that approach. Since day one, he has sided with the far left of his party and really not reached out to Republicans. He gave a speech on this topic where he advocated policies that he knows for sure have no chance of passing the Senate probably couldnโ€™t even get 50 votes, and hold the Democrats much less get the 60 we would need. So once again, the President is not being very helpful. I think at the end of the day, this is going to come down to whether we can reach a consensus in the United States Senate. There are intensive discussions underway. It includes people who have not been engaged on this issue in the past. I canโ€™t certainly canโ€™t guarantee any outcome. But it feels to me like we are closer than weโ€™ve been since Iโ€™ve been in the Senate.

In theory, former Attorney General Bill Barr finds himself in a difficult position. The Republican tapped special counsel John Durham to investigate the investigation into the Russia scandal, and the entire three-year effort is proving to be a fiasco. Durhamโ€™s failed and misguided prosecution of Michael Sussmann this week was the latest embarrassment, but it doesnโ€™t stand alone.

 

It was against this backdrop that Barr turned to Fox News last night to brag about how โ€œvery proudโ€ he is of the prosecutorโ€™s work. The former attorney general added:

 

โ€œWhile he did not succeed in getting a conviction from the D.C. jury, I think he accomplished something far more importantโ€ฆ. I think he crystallized the central role played by the Hillary campaign in launching as a dirty trick the whole Russiagate collusion narrative and fanning the flames of it.โ€

 

In all likelihood, Barr knows better. Donald Trumpโ€™s Russia scandal wasnโ€™t just some โ€œnarrative,โ€ launched as a โ€œdirty trickโ€; it was a genuine scandal about a Republican presidential candidate whose political operation sought, embraced, capitalized on, and lied about assistance from a foreign adversary โ€” and then took steps to obstruct the investigation into the foreign interference.

 

Whatโ€™s more, as the former attorney general also probably knows, Hillary Clinton and her campaign didnโ€™t โ€œlaunchโ€ the scandal; federal law enforcement began scrutinizing the controversy on its own based on ample evidence.

 

But putting these relevant details aside, Barrโ€™s on-air rhetoric last night was jarring for a reason: The Republican effectively made the case that Durhamโ€™s pointless prosecution doesnโ€™t matter because the politicized special counsel investigation contributed to a partisan smear of Hillary Clinton.

 

Sure, federal prosecutors obtaining convictions is nice, but for Barr, fueling anti-Clinton theories is โ€œfar more important.โ€

The used car dealership known as CIA never seemed like an ordinary car dealership, with inventory, staff and expenses.

 

On its Facebook page, CIAโ€™s โ€œstaffโ€ were fake personalities such as โ€œJames Falls Oโ€™Brien,โ€ whose photo was taken from a hairstyle model catalog, and โ€œJade Julia,โ€ whose image came from a web page called โ€œBeautiful Girls Wallpaper.โ€

 

If a customer showed up looking to buy a car from Cars International A, often referred to as CIA, AbidAwan โ€” who was managing partner of the dealership while also earning $160,000 handling IT for House Democrats โ€” would frequently simply go across the street to another dealership called AAA Motors and get one.

 

โ€œIf AAA borrows a car to Cars International and they have a customer, it was simply take the car across the street and sell it, and then later on give the profit back or not,โ€ Nasir Khattak, who ran the longstanding AAA dealership, testified in a lawsuit. โ€œThere was no documentationโ€ฆ If you go and try to dissect, you will not be able to make any sense out of them because there were many, dozens and dozens, of cars transferred between the two dealerships and between other people.โ€

US Secret Service Cartagena scandal 'involved 20 women'

 

The US Secret Service prostitution scandal involved as many as 20 women, 11 American agents and some military personnel, senior US officials say.

 

Senator Susan Collins, briefed by the Secret Service director, said 20 women were found at the US hotel.

 

The incidents took place in Cartagena, Colombia, ahead of last weekend's Summit of the Americas.

 

On Monday, the head of the US armed forces said the Secret Service and the military had "let the boss down".

 

Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan was "rightly appalled by the agents' actions and is pursuing a vigorous internal investigation", Ms Collins said in a statement.

Dog-handlers investigated

 

"He ordered all the agents to return to Washington immediately, and all have been interviewed," said Ms Collins, the top Republican on the Senate's Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

 

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Ms Collins, a Republican who represents Maine in the Senate, also said she had asked Mr Sullivan a number of questions during her phone briefing.

 

"Who were these women? Could they have been members of groups hostile to the United States? Could they have planted bugs, disabled weapons, orโ€ฆ jeopardised [the] security of the president or our country?"

 

Speaking to reporters afterwards the senator said some agents "were uniformed personnel who are assigned to building security". Others were "these specialised agents who do security details", she said.

 

US congressional homeland security committee chairman Peter King told Reuters news agency that "so far there is no information that any of them were involved with any narco-terrorist group or any organised crime".

 

Two of the agents were senior personnel with salaries at the top end of the government's pay scale, the Washington Post reported.

 

All 11 agents have been placed on administrative leave and had their security clearance revoked. They were not directly involved with presidential security.

 

A Marine Corps spokesman said on Tuesday that among the military service members being investigated were two Marine dog handlers assigned to support the Secret Service.

 

The White House meanwhile said it had confidence in the director of the Secret Service to investigate the incident, adding that he had addressed the matter quickly.

NATO declares China a โ€˜threatโ€™ for the first time as it outlines ten-year strategic plan

 

NATO has warned China and Russia pose a security threat in its 10 year strategic plan as the security alliance formally invited Sweden and Finland to join the 30-member bloc in a blow to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

The blueprint plan pointed to Beijing using "malicious" hybrid and cyber operations and a "confrontation rhetoric" while distributing disinformation to target allies and "harming" alliance security.

The group also recognised the strong relationship between Russia and China and their attempts to "undercut the rules-based international order" to its values and interests.

 

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese - who was invited to the summit as part of the "Asia Pacific 4" - echoed the threat remarks of Beijing and Moscow when he delievered a speech to the security alliance.

The US Supreme Court declines to review a ruling linking the herbicide Roundup to cancer, exposing the manufacturer to litigation

 

The US Supreme Court rejected on Tuesday an appeal filed by German chemical giant Bayer to overturn a landmark ruling linking the weedkiller Roundup with cancer. The company faces thousands of similar claims, which have plagued it since it acquired Roundup manufacturer Monsanto in 2018.

 

The US court declined to review the case of a man from California, Edwin Hardeman, who was awarded $25 million in damages. He used Roundup for 26 years at his home before being diagnosed with a form of lymphoma. He succeeded in making the case for a causal relationship between the two, with his claim upheld by an appeals court in May 2021.

 

The Supreme Court decision has scotched Bayerโ€™s plan to mitigate compensation payouts in thousands of similar cases. The German firm, which acquired Monsanto for $63 billion, has over 30,000 claims outstanding after resolving more than 100,000, it said in its yearly report in March.

 

Last year, Bayer set aside $4.5 billion to pay possible damages in addition to the $11.6 billion it reserved for litigation previously. It largely put on hold the settlement of claims, pending a decision on the appeal, which it filed in the US Supreme Court in August last year.

 

Bayer โ€œrespectfully disagreesโ€ with the courtโ€™s rejection, the firm said on Tuesday, adding: โ€œThe company believes that the decision undermines the ability of companies to rely on official actions taken by expert regulatory agencies.โ€

 

In its legal argument, the company said the European Environment Agency did not find a connection between glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, and cancer. This means Bayer does not have to label the product as potentially cancerogenic when it sells it in the EU. The lawsuits against it argue that such a warning should have been placed to warn customers about the risk.

 

Hardeman, who sued Monsanto in 2016, relied on a decision by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, an arm of the World Health Organization, which said glyphosate can probably cause cancer in humans.

 

Bayer has said it plans to retire glyphosate-based weedkillers from the retail market in the US next year.

Staff from global consulting firm FTI masqueraded as grassroots activists to drive influence campaigns for big oil.

 

A number of initiatives that appeared to amplify local voices on energy issues were actually part of a larger corporate influence campaign designed and staffed by FTI consulting, the New York Times reports. A group called Texans for Natural Gas, an organization known as the Arctic Energy Center and the Main Street Investors Coalition all purported to represent local interests but were in fact directed in significant part by FTI.

 

โ€œAn examination of FTIโ€™s work provides an anatomy of the oil industryโ€™s efforts to influence public opinion in the face of increasing political pressure over climate change, an issue likely to grow in prominence, given President-elect Joseph R. Based on interviews with a dozen former FTI employees and a review of hundreds of internal documents, the New York Times determined that the organization was involved in at least 15 influence campaigns promoting fossil fuel interests. FTI monitored environmental activists online, and in one case, create a fake Facebook persona to track protesters.
