Two people were shot outside of Rep. Lee Zeldin's home in Long Island, New York. His twin daughters were inside.

Two people were shot outside of New York GOP gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin's home on Long Island with his two teenage daughters inside.

"My daughters Mikaya and Ariana were doing homework on the first floor," Zeldin told the New York Post. "They heard the shots. Boom! They went upstairs and locked themselves in the bathroom."

Zeldin was not home at the time and he says he does not know who was shot.

Zeldin's 16-year-old twin daughters called the police from their house around 2:20 p.m. according to the police.

"The local police have cordoned off the area," Zeldin told the New York Post.

Twitter locks Kanye West's account after tweet about Jewish people

Kanye West has been locked out of his Twitter account after posting a tweet about Jewish people.

On Saturday night, Kanye posted a tweet that read: "I'm a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I'm going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE."

Kanye appears to make a reference to DEFCON – which is the defense readiness condition alert level used by the United States military.

The rapper added, "The funny thing is I actually can't be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda."

The tweet was deleted, and Kanye's account was restricted for violating the social media platform's policies.

A Twitter spokesman said of Kanye's page, "The account in question has been locked due to a violation of Twitter's policies."

Kanye West's Twitter suspension comes a day after the rapper had his Instagram account restricted.

A representative for Meta – the company that owns Instagram and Facebook – told The Hollywood Reporter that West's Instagram account had been restricted and the social media app had deleted content from the rapper's page. West's Instagram account was still visible, but he was temporarily barred from sharing posts, writing comments, and sending direct messages.

The Meta spokesperson did not specify what post was deleted or how long the suspension would last.

After being locked out of his Instagram account, Kanye vented about Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Twitter.

West told Zuckerberg in the tweet that they used to be close friends and shared a photo of the two.

Kanye tweeted, "How you gone kick me off Instagram."

Elon Musk – who is set to buy Twitter – chimed in, "Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!"

Before last week, Kanye had not tweeted since November 2020.

Last week, West was criticized for comments he made about Jared Kushner during an interview on "Tucker Carlson Tonight."

The American Jewish Committee – a Jewish advocacy group – said on Friday that West had made "incoherent rants laden with racist and anti-Semitic undertones" and "anti-Jewish posts."

In March, the rapper known as Ye had his Instagram account suspended for 24 hours after using a racial slur against "The Daily Show" host Trevor Noah.

Kanye West also made headlines last week by wearing a shirt that read: "White Lives Matter."

Biology Teacher Reinstated After Refusing To Use Trans Student Pronouns

A biology teacher who was suspended last week after refusing to use transgender students' preferred pronouns was reinstated after over 400 people showed up at the school's auditorium last Wednesday - most of whom were there to support the educator.

Biology and anatomy teacher Daren Cusato was suspended by officials at South Side Area School District in rural Beaver County, PA, despite citing religious beliefs for his refusal use the trans students' pronouns.

"My uncle Daren is standing up for what is right, even though he is standing by himself. I am thoroughly embarrassed that South Side School District has taken this arbitrary stance in choosing to align with the one percent," said Cusato's niece - one of 40 people who spoke at the meeting, most in support of his reinstatement.

"I am standing up here tonight to ask you to separate these two things: the very divisive but trendy topic of pronouns and the precedent that you are setting, which is that teachers need to modify their engagement of students based on how that student feels," said another.

One speaker slammed the district for acting out of fear of "getting sued," according to WPXI.

"We shouldn’t be afraid of being sued. Fine. If you want to sue us, sue us. Let’s take it to the Supreme Court. Let’s take it all the way," she said.

Others argued in favor of the school - with one woman insisting that "Transgender students have a right to be identified by their chosen name, their pronouns. School staff must use that name."

"If we allow a teacher, particularly one with a highly-regarded reputation, to model that these children don’t deserve acknowledgement of who they are, then the children we are trying to protect are in even greater danger," said another trans-defender.

After Cusato's reinstatement, the district announced plans to rewrite a new policy on the subject at a future meeting.

Australian adults can now get Moderna's Omicron COVID-19 booster. Here's what we know

The first combination COVID booster has now been introduced to Australia's vaccine program, with Moderna's Omicron shot officially entering the rollout from today, according to the Department of Health and Aged Care.

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) last month recommended the shot, comprising of vaccines against the original SARS-CoV-2 virus and the BA.1 Omicron subvariant, be administered as a booster to adults.

Combination boosters have also been rolled out elsewhere, such as the UK, Switzerland, Canada, EU and US, with the US rolling out a booster tailored to BA.4 and BA.5 rather than BA.1.

CCP-Beholden Elon Musk Says Taiwan Should Come Under Chinese Control

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an interview with the Financial Times published on Friday that Taiwan should come under the control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), supposedly to solve the tension between the two nations. This may be disappointing to many but not surprising, as Musk is beholden to the CCP.

“My recommendation . . . would be to figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that is reasonably palatable, probably won’t make everyone happy,” Musk said, according to Just the News. Musk added, “And it’s possible, and I think probably, in fact, that they could have an arrangement that’s more lenient than Hong Kong.” The CCP has been conducting ongoing political crackdowns in Hong Kong.

Elon Musk has been hailed for some months now as a great champion of free speech. But while his comments and his attempt to buy Twitter seem to support free speech, his ties to the Chinese government raise some concerns about his sincerity.

Musk poured effort and money into his Tesla China branch. All major businesses in China are surveilled by and answerable to the CCP. Meanwhile the CCP is running internment camps and inflicting genocide on Xinjiang’s Uyghur Muslims and persecuting up to 50 million Chinese Catholics.

Former White House National Security Council (NSC) chief of staff Alexander Gray told Media Research Center recently that the Chinese government practices “civil-military fusion,” where everything in the economic and tech spheres is accessible to the Chinese military, the People’s Liberation Army. That would include Tesla China.

But Musk also recently wrote an article for China Cyberspace, “a monthly magazine run by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), the central agency for internet control and regulation,” according to a translation of the article on the Substack Beijing Channel and The Post Millennial. In the article, Musk tried to encourage CCP interest in his microchip, artificial intelligence, and space travel projects.

CAC helps the CCP keep tight control of Chinese tech companies, according to Protocol, and CAC also demands data–including “non-public” data–from Chinese tech companies, according to Bloomberg News. Why would “pro-free speech” Musk be writing an article for CAC?

Big 4 Accounting Firm Deloitte Given Slap on the Wrist After Allowing Firms in China to Do Their Own Audit Work

Deloitte China has been fined by the SEC for allowing its audit clients to perform some of their audit work on their own.

Big 4 Accounting firm Deloitte was given a minor slap on the hand by the SEC after allowing its clients to perform some of their own audit work, disregarding independence and objectivity, two pillars of the auditing profession.

The SEC shared:

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Certified Public Accountants LLP (Deloitte-China), the Chinese affiliate of the Deloitte global network of accounting firms, with failing to comply with fundamental U.S. auditing requirements in its component audits of U.S. issuers and its audits of foreign companies listed on U.S. exchanges. Deloitte-China agreed to settle the charges by paying a $20 million penalty and agreeing to extensive remedial measures.

The SEC order finds that, in the course of numerous audits, Deloitte-China personnel asked clients to select their own samples for testing and to prepare audit documentation purporting to show that Deloitte-China had obtained and assessed the supporting evidence for certain clients’ accounting entries. This created the appearance that Deloitte-China had conducted the required testing of clients’ financial statements and internal controls when there was no evidence in the audit file that it had in fact done so.

“We find that Deloitte-China fell woefully short of professional auditing requirements in numerous component audits of Chinese operations of U.S. issuers and audits of Chinese companies listed on U.S. exchanges,” said SEC Chair Gary Gensler. “These basic, foundational auditing requirements are necessary to instill trust in our capital markets. It’s a privilege for issuers to access our markets — the largest, deepest, most liquid markets in the world. Investors in U.S. markets should be protected — and have trust in a company’s financial numbers — regardless of whether an issuer is foreign or domestic.”

“While the SEC’s action today does not implicate a violation of the Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act, the action does underscore the need for the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) to be able to inspect Chinese audit firms,” Chair Gensler added. “A fundamental goal of the PCAOB’s inspection regime is to identify weaknesses in the firms’ quality control processes — the very weaknesses at issue in this case.”

Gensler was Hillary Clinton’s accountant for her 2016 Presidential Campaign. The fact that Deloitte was given such a light fine for validating auditing principles and perhaps signing off on misstated financial results that were not objective is not surprising.

We already know that Biden gave China easy access to US markets. He did this by allowing China not to have to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation that US companies have to comply with.

This work is extremely expensive, but if done right, ensures that a company has the controls in place to ensure that its financials are accurate. Chinese companies don’t have to comply with this legislation due to actions taken by Joe Biden.

Not to worry. The Bidens received $1 billion after this was done.
