A spokesperson for the Russian oil company Gazprom claims to Reuters that in 2015 a mining vessel belonging to NATO was discovered at the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. The Swedish authorities are said to have considered the vessel to be harmless, and removed it, according to the report.
