Oil depot, customs office shelled in Russia – governor

The attack caused a fire at the oil storage facility, Belgorod Region’s head Vyacheslav Gladkov said

An oil depot and a border checkpoint have been shelled in Russia’s southern Belgorod Region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov claimed on Saturday. The news comes just a day after a missile struck a power station in the city of Belgorod, causing a major blaze at the site.

“We have another shelling. One of the shells struck an oil terminal,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel, adding later that the fire that followed the attack had been extinguished. No casualties have been reported.

Earlier on Saturday, the governor wrote on his Telegram channel that 14 shells had been fired at a customs office in the border city of Shebekino. He added that no one was hurt.

Russian officials previously accused Kiev of striking a power station in Belgorod on Friday, briefly disrupting electricity supply. During another shelling on Thursday, the top floor of a 16-story apartment block in the city was hit by a missile. There were no casualties.

Earlier this week, Moscow fired dozens of missiles at targets in Ukraine, saying it was in response to sabotage plots by Kiev targeting crucial Russian facilities, including the Kursk nuclear power plant, the TurkStream gas pipeline and the Crimean Bridge. Kiev has neither confirmed nor denied its alleged involvement, though some of its top officials and government agencies openly celebrated the bridge bombing.

On Friday, speaking at a media conference in the Kazakh capital Astana, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that “for now” there was no need for additional large-scale missile strikes on Ukrainian targets. He explained that the Russian military is now pursuing other objectives.

Russia sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, citing Kiev’s failure to implement the Minsk agreements, designed to give the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state. The protocols, brokered by Germany and France, were first signed in 2014. Former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko has since admitted that Kiev’s main goal was to use the ceasefire to buy time and “create powerful armed forces.”

In February 2022, the Kremlin recognized the Donbass republics, which have since joined the Russian Federation, as independent states and demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join any Western military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked.

Texas Vaccine Policy Symposium Declares Unvaccinated People a Danger to Public Health

The Baker Institute at Rice University in Texas held a symposium on Friday on Texas Vaccine Policy.

The 88th Texas Legislative Session will begin in January 2023, and the 2022 Texas Vaccine Policy Symposium gathered together researchers and stakeholders from around the state to examine the effects of vaccines in Texas and the lessons learned over the past two years.

The panelists all argued the benefits of vaccines while ignoring the massive elephant in the room.

The force COVID experimental vaccines killed tens of thousands of people and injured millions

The panelists did not want to talk about this. They were not interested in the truth.

Valerie Gutmann Koch, co-director of the Health Law & Policy Institute at the University of Houston Law Center, talked about “A New Weapon in the Anti-Vaccine Arsenal: Claiming the Unvaccinated as a Protected Class.”

Koch stated during her speech that those who choose not to get vaccinated pose a danger to society.

“The United States has already seen the reemergence of the polio virus in addition to an outbreak of monkeypox, the latter which has already been declared a federal public health emergency,” Koch said. “Both diseases have safe and effective vaccines that have been proven to control the transmission of these dangerous viruses.”

Obviously, she has no idea what she’s talking about.

We all know that COVID-vaccines won’t stop the transmission of the virus.

During a recent COVID-19 EU hearing, Pfizer’s President of International Developed Markets, Janine Small, admitted that the vaccine had never been tested on its ability to prevent transmission, contrary to what was previously advertised.

With regard to the monkeypox vaccine, an official from the World Health Organization (WHO) admitted that everyone who received the Monkeypox vaccine is considered to be part of a “clinical study” for the purpose of data collecting so that researchers can learn more about the “effectiveness of the vaccine.”

Tim Nguyen, the Unit Head of Global Infectious Hazards Preparedness at the World Health Organization Emergency Programme, said that the vaccine efficacy is yet unknown since it has never been used on this scale before.

“I would like to underline one thing that is very important to WHO. We do have uncertainty around the effectiveness of these vaccines because they haven’t been used in this context and in this scale before,” Tim Nguyen stressed.

So Koch’s claims during the symposium were wrong.

“Mandatory vaccines are, by their nature, an intrusion into individual autonomy and bodily integrity. But the right to individual autonomy is not absolute and may be limited in circumstances where individuals pose a risk to others,” Koch added.

“If the unvaccinated become a protected class, the spread of such diseases is likely to escalate.”

“Efforts to declare the unvaccinated a protected class is just one weapon in an antivaccine advocates arsenal that could severely limit our ability to control highly transmissible and dangerous diseases. Countering these efforts will be a prolonged but necessary process to safeguard the public health.”

Watch: Navy Seals In Helicopter Swoop Down On Yacht In Newport Beach

The stunning video you're about view isn't members of the US Navy Seals commandeering a Russian yacht or one belonging to a drug kingpin of the Sinaloa Cartel but instead conducting a demonstration in Newport Beach, California, for a fundraising event.

TMZ said Navy Seals demonstrated a maritime fast rope exercise onto a yacht in Newport Beach as part of a SEAL Future Foundation fundraising dinner that was held at Lido Marina Village.

Onlookers around the marina were in shock, as many had no idea Navy Seals boarding a yacht, guns drawn, was merely an exercise for the fundraising event.

"Of course, those in the Marina who might not have been privy to the demonstration were probably dumbfounded … you hear commotion from onlookers who clearly think this is some sort of raid," TMZ said.

CEO of Konnech, the China-linked software company allegedly behind 'largest data breach in United States history,' hit with another criminal charge

Eugene Yu, the 51-year-old CEO of the Michigan-based election software company Konnech, has been criminally charged again, this time for grand theft by embezzlement. Yu is said to have "fraudulently appropriated public funds" while a contractor for Los Angeles County.

The felony complaint filed in the Superior Court of State of California for the County of Los Angeles alleged that the "funds amounted to $2,645,000 plus the as yet undetermined value of the personal identifying information," which Konnech stored on servers in China.

Although the company previously claimed that all of its data was stored on servers in the United States, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón indicated that Konnech had "allegedly violated its contract by storing critical information that the workers provided on servers in China," where Yu lived until 1986.

On Friday, prosecutor Eric Neff suggested the crimes allegedly committed by Konnech under Yu constituted the "largest data breach in United States history," and urged that Yu be held in custody, granted he poses an "extensive flight risk" due to his "deep ties to China."

Despite Neff's protestation, Yu was released.

Yu will reappear in court in November to enter a plea. If convicted, he will likely serve time in a state prison.

Extra to the funds tied to the contracts Konnech had with various American municipalities and counties, Just the News reported that the software company also received $247,139 in funding from the Department of Defense.

The Department of Defense has not yet responded to requests for comment from TheBlaze concerning whether the DoD, which is reportedly working in conjunction with the NSA to "protect the security of the 2022 midterm elections from foreign actors," has been made aware of or is peripherally involved in the ongoing investigation into Konnech's alleged malfeasance.

Konnech also recently received funding to the tune of $306,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

Concerning Konnech's securement of funds, Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in December 2021 that "Konnech's growth is great news for our state, our families, and our economy."

Data theft and exposure to the communist Chinese regime

Konnech licenses a proprietary software called PollChief. This election worker management system was used in the last California election by Los Angeles County, where it has a five-year, $2.9 million contract.

PollChief requires election workers to submit personal identifying information. Konnech retains that information.

Fairfax Republicans indicated that Konnech had access to a wide range of American poll workers' identifying information, including their:

names

mailing addresses

phone numbers

email addresses

dates of birth

social security numbers

banking information

party affiliations

active/inactive status

According to the felony complaint filed on October 13, from 2019 through to this month, Eugene and other employees at Konnech were servicing Los Angeles County "using third-party contractors based in China."

Sensitive, identifying information of American election workers was sent to these third-party Chinese actors who allegedly had "superadministration" privileges for all American PollChief clients.

Heads of Marvel Comics Revealed to be Closely Connected to Israeli Intelligence

“By glorifying the Israeli army & police, Marvel is promoting Israel’s violence against Palestinians & enabling the continued oppression of millions"

Last month, activists and comic book fans alike were in uproar over Marvel Studios’ announcement that Israeli actress Shira Haas will play Zionist superhero Sabra in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Captain America: New World Order. Many Palestine advocates accused Marvel’s decision to add Sabra to the MCU as exalting Israeli abuse and war crimes.

“By glorifying the Israeli army & police, Marvel is promoting Israel’s violence against Palestinians & enabling the continued oppression of millions of Palestinians living under Israel’s authoritarian military rule,” the Institute for Middle East Understanding wrote in a tweet.

Following the backlash, Marvel said in a statement to Variety that it will take a “new approach” to the character, in a perceived attempt to placate criticisms.

Yet vows to reimagine the Sabra character, a former spy for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, may come across as disingenuous, especially when, upon closer examination, Marvel appears closely connected to the Israeli government and its main intelligence agency Mossad.

MARVEL AND ISRAEL’S DEEPENING RELATIONSHIP

Many individuals who have held or still maintain roles at Marvel are associated with the Israeli military, Israeli intelligence and Zionist institutions that uphold apartheid. For instance, Isaac Perlmutter, the current chairman of Marvel Entertainment who served on Marvel Comics’ board of directors until 1995, grew up in 1948-occupied Palestine (or modern-day Israel) and served in the Israeli military during the 1967 Six-Day War. Avi Arad, the CEO of Marvel Entertainment, also grew up in modern-day Israel and served in the Israeli army during the Six-Day War.

Along with his wife, Laura, Perlmutter oversees a foundation that contributes to several pro-Israel causes such as the Anti-Defamation League, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, the America-Israel Friendship League, the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County in Florida, and the Jewish Agency for Israel. The Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Foundation has also supported the Hebrew University and Israel’s Technion Institute of Technology.

The Perlmutters are also heavily linked to the Trump family. In 2016, their organization donated $25,000 to the Eric Trump Foundation. According to Open Secrets, a campaign finance tracker, in 2016, Laura Perlmutter donated $5,400 to former President Donald Trump’s campaign and nearly $450,000 to the Trump Victory Committee, a joint fundraising initiative by the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee. The couple then gave more than $1 million to the Trump Victory Committee in 2019 and 2020 and contributed another $11,200 to Trump’s reelection campaign in 2019.

Isaac Perlmutter donated $5 million in 2016 to the Great America PAC, a super political action committee (PAC) supporting Trump. The couple also contributed $10.5 million in 2020 to American First Action, a PAC supporting Trump. In addition, Both Perlmutters have backed several state and federal Republican entities and candidates over the years. The hefty donations did not go unnoticed, earning Isaac a spot in shaping policies at the Department of Veteran Affairs during Trump’s time in office, according to an investigation by ProPublica.

Early Marvel Comics’ investors Carl Icahn and Ronald Perelman are also tied to both Israel and Trump. Icahn donated $5,400 to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and was subsequently named Trump’s special adviser

Ex-CNN Chief Jeff Zucker, Ex-MSNBC Boss Phil Griffin Defend Ignoring Hunter Biden Story: ‘He Was Never Arrested!’

Ex-CNN boss Jeff Zucker and ex-MSNBC chief Phil Griffin defended ignoring the Hunter Biden story in Philadelphia last week during the Un-Convention.

While speaking on a panel, Zucker claimed CNN researched into the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop but admitted the network did not spend enough time vetting the authenticated story. CNN finally admitted 532 days Hunter’s “laptop from hell” was authentic after the initial story broke on October 24, 2020 — notably calling it “Russian disinformation” and “made up” at the time.

“We did. We did look into it. But first of all, you know, with regard to the son of the candidate, you know, he was the son of the candidate. He wasn’t the candidate. The question that you’ll come back with is, well, but what role did the candidate play in his business dealings?” Zucker questioned.

President Joe Biden and his staff have claimed seven times Joe Biden has had no part in the family scheme, but 17 instances show otherwise.

“Okay. So my point is, it’s easy to say we should have spent more time on that,” Zucker continued. “Listen, do I think it’s legitimate to look at. Sure. Do I think that like it’s a legitimate criticism to say that in the ten days, 14 days prior to the election, you didn’t spend enough time on it? Not really.”

Ex-MSNBC chief Phil Griffin jumped in the conversation and excused ignoring the story because Hunter was not arrested for any crime.

“He was never arrested. The Justice Department was looking into it, never reported it until he is the son of a candidate. I don’t think it’s a main story until that happens,” Griffin replied.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has since stated he believes the FBI agent Tim Thibault shut down the laptop probe. Hunter’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski fears recently departed Thibault buried the information he conveyed to the FBI about his Chinese business dealings with the Biden family, the New York Post reported. Bobulinski personally met with President Joe Biden in 2017 for an hour to discuss “the Bidens’ family business plans with the Chinese.”

Moreover, Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg admitted the FBI approached Facebook in 2020 to be on the lookout for Russian disinformation. The two FBI officials who had knowledge of Hunter’s laptop in 2020 and who alerted Facebook to potential Russian disinformation are Democrat donors, court filings and campaign finance records show.

Hunter is reportedly under investigation by Trump-appointed U.S. prosecutor David Weiss for tax fraud, money laundering, and violation of lobbying laws. The probe appears to be unrelated to Hunter’s laptop.

Hunter Biden is the subject of a brand new narrative film, My Son Hunter, marking Breitbart’s expansion into film distribution. The film was directed by Robert Davi (Goonies, License to Kill, Die Hard) and stars Laurence Fox (Victoria, Inspector Lewis, The Professor and The Madman) as Hunter Biden; Gina Carano (The Mandalorian, Deadpool, Heist) as a Secret Service agent; and John James (Dynasty) as Joe Biden. It was produced by Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney (Gosnell movie, FBI Lovebirds: Undercovers) from the Unreported Story Society. The film is available RIGHT NOW for Streaming and Downloading at MySonHunter.com. The trailer below has been viewed almost 5 million times across social media.

Turkey Adopts Legislation That Could Jail Journalists for ‘Disinformation’

Turkish lawmakers have voted to adopt a law that aimed at preventing “disinformation” in the media and online, despite widespread concerns about the measure’s potential to quash free speech.

Lawmakers from President Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which together have a majority, voted in parliament on Thursday to approve the legislation. The bill now goes to Erdogan for final approval.

While government officials have said the highly controversial bill is needed to combat fake news and disinformation, opposition members of parliament as well as European countries and media rights activists have called to scrap it.

Many have taken issue with article 29 in the measure, saying that it may be used to enforce censorship and quash free speech, as well as threaten independent journalism, since the Turkish government currently controls a majority of major news outlets in the country.

Article 29 says that people who are found guilty of spreading false information online intended to “create fear and disturb public order” could be punished with a prison sentence of one to three years. The measure also stipulates that if anonymous accounts are used to spread the alleged disinformation, sentences can be increased by up to half.

Critics also said there is no clear definition of “false or misleading information” and courts could abuse the law.

The new legislation comes amid dwindling support for Erdogan and his AKP, ahead of the country’s general elections in June 2023.

A coalition of 22 press freedom organizations said the bill has a “vaguely-formulated definition of disinformation and ‘intent,’” adding that it “will put millions of internet users at risk of criminal sanction and could lead to blanket censorship and self-censorship in the run up to the 2023 elections.”

The Venice Commission, which advises the human rights group Council of Europe, has said it is particularly concerned about the consequences of the bill’s prison provision, “namely the chilling effect and increased self-censorship” ahead of the elections.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Oct. 12 urged the Turkish government not to enact the new “disinformation” law.

The Turkish Journalists’ Union (TGS), which comprises seven leading journalist organizations in the country, condemned how the Turkish government had “consulted the opinion of the U.S.-based digital media companies” in preparing the bill, but “failed to seek the views of the journalism organizations in Turkey who will be directly affected.”

“It is a basic requirement of democracy for politicians to establish a dialogue with the leading professional organizations and civil society while preparing such legal regulations that directly concern the right of the society to obtain and receive information,” the group said. “We condemn the violation of this democratic principle.”

Güney Yildiz, a regional researcher at Amnesty International, said in a statement that the measure would enable the government to “further censor and silence critical voices ahead of Turkey’s upcoming elections and beyond, under the guise of fighting disinformation.”

“[T]he law’s vaguely defined provisions facilitate further the prosecution of those who allegedly publicly disseminate ‘false information’ and could see people facing jail terms of up to three years merely for a retweet,” Yildiz said, adding that the measure opens “new avenues for the authorities to extend their draconian crackdown on freedom of expression and increase the chilling effect that fear of criminal prosecution brings.”

According to the Reporters Without Borders world press freedom index for 2022, Turkey ranks 149 out of 180 countries.

Israel Authorizes Military to Kill Palestinians with Drones in the West Bank

Commanders of the Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) have been authorized to use armed drones to kill Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, with the approval of Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi.

Hamas called the order “a dangerous step” and urged Palestinians “to continue resisting the Israeli occupation with all means possible until they regain their legitimate rights.”

The authorization to expand the use of killer drones coincides with “a significant rise in shooting attacks and massive gunfire during arrest raids, specifically in the northern West Bank cities of Jenin and Nablus,” according to The Jerusalem Post. On September 28, the IOF killed four Palestinians and injured dozens more during protests in Jenin.

Since as early as 2008, the Israeli Air Force has been killing Palestinians in Gaza with drones. They have also been used to fire gas bombs and live rounds in occupied Jerusalem. Although drones have been employed for surveillance, this is the first time armed drones will be utilized in the occupied West Bank. Drones comprise 80 percent of the total flight hours in the Israeli Air Force.

Israel justifies targeting Hamas and Islamic Jihad “terrorists” with drones for “counter-terrorism” operations if armed gunmen are thought to pose an imminent threat to Israeli troops. But Israel has no right of self-defense against the people whose land it occupies. The Fourth Geneva Convention says that an occupying power has a legal duty to protect the occupied. As an occupying power, Israel cannot use military force against the occupied Palestinian people.

Under international law, the Palestinians have a lawful right to resist Israel’s occupation of their lands, including through armed struggle. In 1982, the UN General Assembly “reaffirmed the legitimacy of the struggle of peoples for independence, territorial integrity, national unity and liberation from colonial and foreign domination and foreign occupation by all available means, including armed struggle.”

Shireen Abu Akleh’s Family Files Complaint Against Israeli Leaders in ICC

In May, Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, known as the “voice of Palestine,” was reporting on an illegal IOF mass arrest raid on the Jenin refugee camp when she was assassinated by an Israeli sniper. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) classifies the targeting of war correspondents or journalists reporting from war zones or occupied territories by killing or physical assault as a war crime.

Although Israel initially denied that an Israeli shot Abu Akleh, it later said there was a “high possibility” that she was “accidentally hit by [Israel Defense Forces] gunfire.”

On September 20, Palestinian human rights organization Al-Haq and London-based research group Forensic Architecture issued a report finding that Israeli forces repeatedly and deliberately targeted Abu Akleh with a “well aimed” bullet. Her vest that said “PRESS” was clearly visible to the IOF shooter, as shown by the detailed digital reconstruction from Al Jazeera footage.

The same day that Al-Haq and Forensic Architecture released their report, the International Federation of Journalists, the International Center of Justice for Palestinians and the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate filed a complaint in the ICC on behalf of the Abu Akleh family and journalist Ali Al Samoudi who was also shot by IOF forces at the same time as Abu Akleh.

Al-Haq is one of six Palestinian human rights groups that Israel baselessly designated “terrorist organizations” and one of seven raided by the IOF in August.

Israel’s assassination of Abu Akleh occurred just days after a coalition of Palestinian journalist organizations and leading human rights lawyers filed an initial complaint in the ICC, protesting the systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists.

“The killing of journalists is an attempt to cover up and prevent their work in documenting human rights abuse and fosters impunity for the injustices that they are seeking to cover,” said Jennifer Robinson, a lawyer for the Abu Akleh family.

Jewish Supremacist Gloats Over Demise And Replacement Of White Christian America

Jennifer Rubin — a Jewish supremacist and ultra-Zionist apologist — wrote a recent op-ed piece for the Washington Post gloating and salivating over the Jewish-orchestrated browning of America — while demonizing White Christians comprising America’s heartland who dare to resist their replacement:

The 2020 Census shows that while Whites remain the largest ethnicity group in the United States, the demographic decreased by 8.6 percent over the past decade. Those identifying as multiracial, by contrast, grew by a stunning 276 percent. Hispanic, Black and Asian American populations all grew at a rapid rate, too. Now, the country is nearly 19 percent Hispanic, 12 percent Black and 6 percent Asian American.

The country grew at a slower pace than in any decade since the Depression. It is also aging. Nearly all the growth took place in urban centers (up nearly 9 percent) as rural populations shrank. The Hill reports: “Fewer than half of the 3,143 counties in the United States added population over the last decade, the new census data shows. The share of Americans who live in nonmetropolitan rural areas dropped by 2.8 percentage points, the Bureau said Thursday.”

The results speak to a truism that millions of Republicans would like to ignore: America is never static. It is — and has always been — in a state of flux, whether it comes to race, religious affiliation (or lack thereof), the divide between native-born and immigrant, or the geographic spread of the population (e.g., the Great Migration of Blacks from the South in the early 20th century or the rise of the Sun Belt population over the last few decades). Indeed, that is the essence of America — a country not defined by racial or religious identity.

That reality has, of course, freaked out a significant share of White Christians who do not see “their America” as predominate. It was never “theirs” to begin with, and the assumption that something is amiss if White Christians are not in charge is the essence of white supremacy and Christian nationalism. It is also fundamentally un-American; our country is defined, as President Biden rightly says, by an “idea.”

It is easy, then, to understand why a political party based increasingly on its appeal to White Christians has adopted so many anti-American traits. The sanctity of elections has given way to a sentiment that violence is sometimes necessary (for Whites to retain power). The decline in their numbers has led to worship of totalitarian thugs around the world and disdain for a free society. The desperation for a make-believe world of yesteryear has led tens of millions down the rabbit hole of right-wing media propaganda, where their worst fears and darkest impulses are amplified.

Less remarked upon, but equally important, is that the growth of urban areas (generally more productive, more tolerant and more diverse) leaves rural Whites increasingly at odds with the national ethos. The latter are also poorer, sicker, less educated and have shorter life-spans than their metropolitan counterparts.

A rational, pro-democracy party would recognize it needs a broader base of support and move to adjust its policies to appeal to a more diverse, more secular and more urban America. That’s not the GOP game plan.

The GOP is so dependent on the right-wing media generator of White angst and resentment, and so fearful they will lose their grip among Whites, that they have chosen instead to try to hold back the demographic and cultural tide washing over them. They resort to voter suppression, assault objective reality, disdain majority rule and weaponize apolitical institutions, such as the courts or the Justice Department. Moreover, given their White, wealthy donor base, they can offer only rhetorical populism while pursuing plutocratic economic policies (going so far as to refuse to increase funding for the Internal Revenue Service to enforce tax laws).

There is no single solution to solve the growing urban-rural divide. However, unless and until Americans in rural areas demand responsible governance, embrace the true “idea” of America and reject the temptation of racism and authoritarianism, little will change.

In the meantime, urban Americans, who constitute a greater share of the population than ever before, will lose patience with anti-democratic techniques (e.g., the filibuster, voter suppression) designed to give rural Whites disproportionate power. Demography may not be destiny, but it brings the weaknesses of American democracy into focus.

Mel Gibon set to testify against Harvey Weinstein in rape trial

Actor was allegedly told of rape incident after it happened.

A judge ruled on Friday that actor and director Mel Gibson can testify at an upcoming rape trial of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Weinstein, who is serving 23 years in prison on a two-felony conviction from from early 2020, is facing accusations that he sexually assaulted a woman in 2010. Gibson reportedly learned of the alleged incident shortly after it purportedly occurred.

Judge Lisa Lench of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County said Gibson could be called by the prosecution as a witness; she further dealt a blow to Weinstein's team by barring his attorneys from asking Gibson about widely publicized antisemitic remarks he made several years ago.

Weinstein's attorneys further argued that there exists a "feud" between the two filmmakers dating back to disputes over Gibson's movie "The Passion of the Christ."

Opening statements for the trial are expected to begin on Oct. 23.
