Top WHO official in Syria under investigation – AP

Dr. Akjemal Magtymova is being accused of corruption, staffers told the agency

The head of the World Health Organization’s office in Syria, Dr. Akjemal Magtymova, is facing “one of the biggest internal probes” in the history of the UN health body, as the Turkmenistan national stands accused of misuse of funds and abuse, AP reported on Thursday.

WHO has looked through more than a hundred documents in which its staffers in the country allegedly described Magtymova’s suspected wrongdoings to the investigators.

They’ve blamed the organization’s top representative in Syria for being involved in a number of “questionable” contracts, including a transportation deal that awarded several million dollars to a supplier with whom she allegedly had personal ties. One of the unnamed employees claimed she had also received $20,000 in cash to buy medicine, despite no official request for such drugs being filed by the Syrian authorities.

According to AP, WHO officials have been concerned about the inability of its Syrian office to keep a proper record of the aid it’s providing to the country, which saw its health system crippled by more than a decade of fighting terrorism and harsh international sanctions.

Magtymova has also allegedly used WHO’s funds to get expensive gifts such as “very good servers and laptops,” gold coins and expensive cars for the Syrian Health Ministry and other officials, the staffers said.

Since arriving in Damascus in 2020, the UN official has lived in a posh multi-room suite in the capital’s Four Seasons hotel, paying $450 of WHO money per night for her stay, AP reported, citing WHO employees. Last May, Magtymova also organized a huge party at the hotel, which saw some 50 high-profile guests getting together and cost around $10,000, according to WHO employees.

Several Syria-based WHO public health experts have claimed that Magtymova called her staffers “cowards” and “retarded” on multiple occasions, the report said.

Magtymova, who was previously WHO’s representative to Oman and emergency coordinator in Yemen, has described the accusations against her as “defamatory” when addressed for comments.

The WHO confirmed that a “protracted and complex investigation” has been underway against its representative in Syria, but declined to reveal any further details.

Zelensky sanctions thousands of Russian nationals and organizations

The blacklist includes business figures, military and government officials, and their families

President Vladimir Zelensky has signed a decree adopting a decision of the Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to sanction over two thousand Russian business persons and officials and over a thousand Russian companies.

The document, which was published on the president’s website on Thursday, lists a total of 2,507 names and 1,374 legal entities. Among those sanctioned are Russian billionaires Roman Abramovich, Arkady Rotenberg, Mikhail Prokhorov, Senator Suleiman Kerimov and Leonid Mikhelson – CEO of gas giant Novatek, among others.

The list also includes cultural and sports figures such as four-time Olympic medalist figure skater Evgeni Plushenko and MMA fighters Alexander and Fedor Emelianenko, as well as several prominent media personalities.

Among the legal entities featured in the presidential decree are Russian telecommunication giant Rostelecom, Alfa-Bank, diamond miner and manufacturer Alrosa, energy company RusHydro and the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

The sanctions are set to last from five to ten years and all on the list will have all their assets in the country blocked and will be restricted from any trading operations, from transit through the territory of Ukraine and from flights to and from the country. Additionally, all economic and financial obligations as well as licenses and permits will also be suspended.

The move comes after Zelensky signed another decree earlier this month, approving a decision by the NSDC to declare it “impossible” to hold any negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moscow, in turn, has accused Kiev of repeatedly undermining any potential for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Last week, Putin recalled that Russia and Ukraine had reached a preliminary agreement in late March which could have halted hostilities. “But as soon as the troops were pulled back from Kiev, the leadership in Kiev lost all desire to have talks,” the Russian leader said.

Ukraine and a number of Western nations have introduced sweeping sanctions on Russian businesses and citizens after Moscow launched a military offensive against Ukraine in late February, citing Kiev’s failure to implement the Minsk agreements, designed to give the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state.

Police Issue Warning Ahead Of Halloween After Fentanyl Pills Found In Candy Bags At LAX

Authorities in California have issued a warning to parents ahead of Halloween celebrations after approximately 12,000 fentanyl pills packaged in several popular candy boxes were seized at Los Angeles International Airport.

“With Halloween approaching, parents need to make sure they are checking their kids’ candy and not allowing them to eat anything until it has been inspected by them,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release.

“If you find anything in candy boxes that you believe might be narcotics, do not touch it and immediately notify your local law enforcement agency,” the agency added.

The giant seizure of the deadly synthetic opioid happened on Oct. 19 after narcotic detectives and agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) stopped a suspect who was attempting to pass the airport’s security screening with several bags of candy and miscellaneous snacks.

EU Ambassador & Munich Security Conference Chair Headline Chinese Communist Party Influence Event.

The Vice Chairman of the Munich Security Conference and a former Ambassador of the European Union to the U.S. headlined an event sponsored by a leading Chinese Communist Party influence group, The National Pulse can reveal.

The group, the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), has been identified by the U.S. federal government as seeking to “influence foreign governments to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing.”

CUSEF functions as part China’s “United Front,” which works “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party.” The U.S. State Department has also compared the effort to the Chinese regime’s “magic weapon” to advance its preferred policies by infiltrating American politics, media, and academia.

Despite these concerning ties, Former Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to the U.S., David O’Sullivan, and Former Deputy Ambassador of Germany to the U.S., Boris Ruge, headlined a virtual webinar hosted by the group on September 20th. The event, which “assess[ed] the U.S-China relationship and how it informs European politics, trade, and perspectives,” was held in collaboration with the Association of Former Members of Congress.

“The webinar covered the challenges of the U.S.-China relationship. In particular, the speakers provided insights from a European point of view on issues relating to Taiwan, the current war in Ukraine, the changes in European perception of China, possible future EU engagement and partnership with China, and more,” explained a synopsis of the event.

O’Sullivan, currently the Director General of the Institute of International and European Affairs, has held a variety of influential positions within the European Union including Chief Operating Officer of the European External Action Service (EEAS), which is the diplomatic service and combined foreign and defense ministry of the EU.

Ruge also has ties to the EU’s military infrastructure, as he currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, the premier forum for international security issues.

The event was moderated by Professor Alejandro Reyes, a former Senior Policy Adviser within the Canadian Foreign Ministry who has also worked with the Clinton Global Initiative and the World Economic Forum.

GOP candidate quits after cop catches him masturbating outside preschool

A Republican running for an Arizona college district’s governing board suspended his campaign Tuesday, two weeks after he was arrested for allegedly masturbating outside a preschool at one of the colleges he was hoping to represent.

Police found candidate Randy Kaufman on Oct. 4 parked outside the child center at Rio Salado College with his pants down to his mid-thigh and “manipulating his genitals in a masturbatory manner,” according to a police report.

Kaufman was in full view of the campus’s Wirtzie’s Preschool and Child Care Center, where several preschool-age children were playing outside, the report said.

“Seriously?” the officer said upon finding the Republican playing with himself.

“I’m sorry,” Kaufman allegedly told the officer. “I f–ked up. I’m really stressed.”

Kaufman said he was out buying rebar nearby but was so stressed out that he pulled into the lot to relieve himself without realizing what the lot was for.

The alleged pervert quit his campaign Tuesday to be on the Maricopa County Community College Governing Board after media reports detailing the arrest were circulated, 12 News reported. The panel oversees 10 colleges, including the one Kaufman was caught fondling himself in.

Kaufman admitted to watching “interracial porn” and masturbating in his Ford truck, which was parked across three parking spaces, but claimed he did not realize how close he was to the preschool.

After repeatedly admitting that he “f–ked up,” Kaufman tried to weasel his way out of the arrest by detailing his relationship with another campus police officer.

“Can I say something off the record?” Kaufman asked. “I know officer Jim Hill; he works with you guys … and … I’m running for the Governing Board for the colleges. I didn’t even know this was one of your sites but now I see the signs all over the parking lot.”

Instead, the officer left the statements in the report and notified his direct supervisor of what Kaufman had said.

Kaufman was charged with public sexual indecency but could face a felony charge because of his proximity to the childcare center, News 12 said.

Despite his campaign suspension, Kaufman’s name will still appear on the ballot, CBS 3 reported.

In a statement about his suspended campaign, Kaufman didn’t address the arrest but said he “will never stop fighting to protect the United States Constitution and the values that make America the greatest country in the world,” according to Huffington Post.

Lockheed Martin Gets Contracts to Replace HIMARS Sent to Ukraine

The arms maker is working to ramp up HIMARS production

The Pentagon has awarded Lockheed Martin with $179 million in contracts to replace High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) and Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS) that it has sent to Ukraine from its own stockpiles, Defense News reported Wednesday.

The US has delivered Ukraine 16 HIMARS launchers from its stockpiles and pledged to purchase 18 to send to Kyiv in the future. The GMLRS are rockets that Ukraine uses with the HIMARS launchers, which have a range of about 50 miles.

The contracts include $95 million for HIMARS and $84 million for GMLRS. The revelation of the contracts, which were awarded over the past few weeks, came as Lockheed Martin announced it was ramping up production of the weapons systems.

Lockheed executives said they’re working to ramp up production of the HIMARS launchers to 96 per year. The company began 2022 producing HIMARS at a rate of 48 per year.

The US and NATO policy of arming Ukraine has been a total boon for Lockheed Martin and other Western arms makers, including Raytheon, the former employer of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

Besides cashing in on replenishing stockpiles and selling weapons bound for Ukraine, the defense industry also stands to gain from NATO members’ plans to increase military spending in the wake of Russia’s invasion. NATO also has a 10-year plan to rebuild Ukraine’s military that will focus on shifting the country from using Soviet equipment to primarily using NATO weapons.

Sick: Disney Director Admits She Created a Show with Sex Scenes for Children

“‘She-Hulk’ is easily one of the horniest shows currently streaming on Disney Plus, and for that, one of the most refreshing.”

That cringe-worthy line is from an interview and profile piece published in the geek-centric publication Polygon on Monday about Kat Coiro, the director of the excruciatingly meta Disney/Marvel series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.”

In that same article, Coiro describes how “one of the horniest shows currently streaming on Disney Plus” is also, apparently, “something that everybody can enjoy, including children.”

Nor, indeed, are these two elements divorced from each other, as you can tell from the story’s headline: “She-Hulk director wanted to make a sex-positive show that kids could also watch.”

Welcome to the wonderful world of Disney, 2022 style.

In case you haven’t managed to catch it — and I haven’t seen enough of it to avouch for it being “one of the horniest shows currently streaming on Disney Plus,” but I’ve seen enough to be familiar with the basics — “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” is a superhero show about … She-Hulk being an attorney at law. The title is the premise. It’s like the old Cartoon Network show “Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law” — except a little more serious, not animated, blessed with a way bigger budget and featuring a lot more rutting, apparently.

“The thing I always loved about the show were the smaller moments and being able to see a superhero coming home and kicking her shoes off after a long day at work,” Coiro told Polygon.

But She-Hulk — or her alter-ego Jennifer Walters, both played by actress Tatiana Maslany — is kicking off a bit more than her shoes.

“We always felt like there was a fear around sex and around the idea of sex positivity,” Coiro told Polygon. “So it was our job to keep having the conversation. We wanted to say, Look, she’s a woman in her 30s navigating modern life; sex is a part of that story, and [ask] how far could we go.”

Actress Maslany liked the idea, too. “I know it’s something that’s very important to her, this idea of sex positivity and kind of smashing the rules when it comes to women and the way that they’re perceived,” Cairo said. “A lot of the conversations about sexualization in the show came from Tatiana, and were with Tatiana.”

“Sure, why not?” you may be saying. We’re well past the days when we’d politely pretend the Ricardos would sleep in side-by-side twin beds — and you’re paying for a subscription on a streaming service, if one that disproportionately features content for children. If you want to indulge in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” when the kids have gone to bed and you’ve heard “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” for the 261st straight day, nobody is begrudging you that. (Questioning your taste in comedy, sure — at least from what I’ve seen. But begrudging it? Hardly.)

The problem is, neither Coiro nor Polygon’s Matt Patches seem to think the show is for, you know, when the kids have gone to bed.

Right after Patches declares the series “one of the horniest shows,” etc., etc. (I’m not sure if he was entirely self-aware when it comes to how preposterous and creepy that line sounds, but don’t let that stop you from laughing with/at him), he wrote that “Coiro says that her goal was still to deliver a show that could play to the broader, youth-skewing Marvel audience.”

“The director says ‘She-Hulk’ is the first show she’s ever really worked on where she was receiving voicemails from 9-year-olds begging to hear what happened next,” he continued. “And her parents and friends who normally didn’t watch Marvel movies were hooked on ‘She-Hulk.’ There was a greater responsibility and challenge to make ‘She-Hulk’ be everything for everyone, without losing its commentary.”

“We wanted to make it realistic, and about a woman navigating sex, but also make it something that everybody can enjoy, including children, because there is an element of the show that is really fun for young people,” Coiro said.

UAVs Used in Ukraine Are Manufactured in Russia, West Inventing Fake Pretext – Polyanskiy

Drones being used by Russian military forces in Ukraine are wholly manufactured in Russia, Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy stressed to reporters after allegations surfaced that Iran was providing UAVs to Moscow.

“UAV used by the Russian army in Ukraine are manufactured in Russia,” Polyanskiy said on Wednesday, adding that Western officials are inventing artificial pretext.

The official further added that the United Nations Secretariat does not have a legal mandate to conduct an investigation into the alleged use of Iranian-made drones in Ukraine.

“[The UN Secretariat] has no mandates to investigate anything regarding the UN Security Council resolution 2231,” Polyanskiy said. “Its role as enshrined within note of the Security Council President 2016/44 16 January 2016 is purely technical – to prepare meeting rooms, circulated communications.”

The comments come after the EU spokesperson Nabila Massrali revealed that the block had collected evidence allegedly proving that Iran had supplied Moscow with drones for its ongoing special military operation.

Iran has repeatedly rejected the accusations. Earlier, Iranian UN envoy Saeed Iravani blasted the “disappointing” claims as disinformation being pushed as part of a political agenda.

“We categorically reject the unfounded and unsubstantiated claims that Iran has transferred UAVs for the use in the conflict in Ukraine,” Iravani said on Wednesday.

Allegations regarding the drones first surfaced in July, when they were voiced by US national security adviser Jake Sullivan. The US State Department has since stated that it intends to use sanctions to prevent the transfer of such “dangerous weapons.”

Biden’s State Dept. gives $20K for drag shows in Ecuador

President Joe Biden’s State Department is funding 12 “drag theater performances” in Ecuador as part of a grant worth more than $20,000 to “promote diversity and inclusion,” Fox News revealed.

The grant was awarded to El Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano, a non-profit cultural center set up to teach English and bolster U.S.-Ecuador relations, according to its website.

The grant for drag performances was part of the State Department’s “public policy programs,” which aims to support national interests and security by “influencing foreign publics” and “strengthening” their relationship with the U.S., according to USASpending.gov.

Also funded by the grant are three “workshops” and the production of a two-minute documentary, according to USASpending.gov.

The Department of State has awarded the cultural center 20 grants totaling $664,938 since 2009, that website also shows. The grants have largely funded renovations, equipment, and English classes and programs.

The website states that the grant-funded activities run from Sept. 30 through Aug. 31, 2023. Nothing drag-related has been posted to the cultural center’s Facebook page so far.

The State Department doled out almost $129 million to public diplomacy programs in the 2021 fiscal year, according to SAM.gov.

Biden has also been promoting “diversity and inclusion” in his own administration. In June, he signed an executive order requiring “chief diversity officers” in every federal agency.

One of those new diversity officers is currently under Defense Department investigation for allegedly anti-white tweets.

This summer, the U.S. Air Force canceled a “Drag Queen Story Time” event for young children after a senator called it “completely insane” and a “gross abuse of taxpayer funding to place children in a sexualized environment.”

3 Israelis charged in Hamas plot to sabotage telecom networks used by IDF during war

Indictment alleges the trio, 2 of whom worked for Cellcom, provided terror group with large volume of information in order to carry out cyberattack on crucial infrastructure

Three men from northern Israel were indicted on Thursday for allegedly sending a large volume of sensitive information to the Hamas terror group in Turkey, and for plans to sabotage Israel’s cellular network in a future war.

According to the charge sheet, the trio were accused of committing “grave security offenses” and rendering the infrastructure of one of the country’s largest telecommunications companies vulnerable to a potential cyberattack.

One of the accused — identified only by the Hebrew initials of his first and last names, Resh Ayin — had worked for cellular giant Cellcom since 2004 as a software engineer, the indictment said.

In 2017, out of “ideological identification with Hamas and its goals,” he met officials from the Palestinian terror group while visiting Turkey, according to a joint statement by the Israel Police, the State Attorney’s Office and the Shin Bet security agency.

Resh Ayin was accused of handing the group sensitive information on communications infrastructure in Israel, which he had come across as part of his work.

In 2020 and 2021, Resh Ayin held further meetings with Hamas officials in Turkey, and at Hamas’s request, the employee asked another defendant — a freelance adviser to Cellcom on computer and communications networks, identified by his initials Shin Ayin — to hand him information on the infrastructure’s weak points, while noting this was for use by Hamas.

The two employees had also conspired since 2015 to try to paralyze Cellcom’s networks in wartime, being aware that the networks are used by military and police forces, authorities said.

“The two worked to prepare and accumulate technological means in advance, which would allow them, on a ‘day of action,’ to penetrate computer and information systems, including their critical components, and run software that would disable or severely disrupt the activities of Cellcom’s communications network,” the statement said.

They were indicted in the case along with Resh Ayin’s brother, who allegedly also met Hamas officials at least three times.

The three “endangered national security in a concrete and grave way,” the statement said, but their plans were foiled by the security services.

The defendants’ full names and many other details were barred from publication by a court order.

Cellcom said in a statement that it “strongly condemns” the former employees’ actions.

“After a thorough examination, there is no indication of harm to our customers and there is no fear of a leak of personal information about customers,” the company said.

Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel said his office would hold a “comprehensive investigation” into the “serious” case to understand its scope.

“The telecommunications companies in Israel are an attractive target for cyberattacks and therefore in the last year we have expanded regulation over the issue in order to protect the information of millions of customers and essential infrastructures,” he added in a post on Twitter.

Metaverse Casino 'Slotie' Hit With A Multi-State Cease And Desist Order

Metaverse casino Slotie was hit Thursday with four emergency cease-and-desist orders from Texas, New Jersey, Kentucky, and Alabama for allegedly violating gambling laws.

Slotie uses the internet to solicit investors to participate in illegal gambling operations in the metaverse, a digital world where participants can interact, purchase products, and gamble online. Slotie is currently based in Georgia and began operating in 2021. It advertises to investors that its non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are a ticket to the "largest and fastest growing online casino network on the blockchain."

NFTs are digital assets that show own one-of-a-kind virtual art, music, or in Slotie's case, part of their metaverse casino. Since their inception, more than 10,000 Slotie NFTs have been sold to the public.

The Slotie website also claims to be the "Las Vegas of the metaverse," as it is currently hosted by Sandbox, one of the largest metaverses available. It has raised over $10 million in Series A funding from a venture capitalist group in the first quarter. Slotie Junior NFTs, their new project, are unique ERC-721 tokens created exclusively on the Ethereum blockchain.

The states accused Slotie of defrauding investors and ordered it to immediately stop the sale of its NFTs to retail investors. All four states allege Slotie's owners have solicited traders to participate in unlawful gambling.

One of the reasons cited in the cease-and-desist orders is that while their NFTs are securitized, they have not provided investors with essential contact information, such as a business address, founder's names, telephone numbers, or email addresses.

The order also alleges Slotie failed to comply when asked to disclose assets, liabilities, total revenue, and other financial information. The order also states that Slotie must stop selling to investors until the security is registered correctly in all four states and risks a fine of up to $10,000 if it fails to violate that order.

Joe Rotunda, the Texas state securities board director, told CNBC that while the metaverse provides legitimate business opportunities, it can "bear significant undisclosed risks," which can sometimes "leave investors virtually broke."

On Thursday, Slotie seemed to allude to the cease-and-desist orders on Twitter.

Former FBI Official Will Testify About White House Pressure to Inflate Domestic Extremism Numbers

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee announced on Thursday that they would be calling a former top FBI official to testify before Congress to address claims that the Biden administration pressured agents to label cases as domestic extremism or a white supremacist threat even if they did not meet that criteria in order to match Joe Biden’s rhetoric.

Last month, current and former FBI agents came forward claiming the Biden administration has been deliberately exaggerating the danger posed by white supremacists. According to the whistleblowers, high-ranking FBI officials were pressuring field agents to fabricate domestic terrorism cases and label people as white supremacists in order to “meet internal metrics.”

“The demand for white supremacy” coming from FBI brass “vastly outstrips the supply of white supremacy,” one agent told the Washington Times. “We have more people assigned to investigate white supremacists than we can actually find.”

“We are sort of the lapdogs as the actual agents doing these sorts of investigations, trying to find a crime to fit otherwise First Amendment-protected activities,” one whistleblower said. “If they have a Gadsden flag and they own guns and they are mean at school board meetings, that’s probably a domestic terrorist.”

On December 2, members of the House Judiciary Committee will interview Jill Sanborn, a former assistant director of the FBI Counterterrorism Division and executive assistant director of its National Security Branch, who has been accused of pressuring agents to reclassify cases per the White House’s requests.

The FBI claims it only investigates those “who commit or intend to commit violence and criminal activity that constitutes a federal crime or poses a threat to national security” and that it does not target individuals or organizations based on their political beliefs.

Last year, the administration previously came under fire for using the resources of the Department of Justice to target angry parents at school board meetings and treat them like domestic terrorists. Merrick Garland authorized the FBI to investigate parents who protested school board meetings alleging a “disturbing trend” of teachers being threatened or harassed. However, PJ Media’s Megan Fox looked into those allegations and concluded that they’re mostly bunk.

In addition, the National School Boards Association (NSBA), which had prompted Garland to write the memo with a letter likening parents to domestic terrorists, eventually apologized for doing so. Despite this, Garland has not rescinded the memo. Late last year, a whistleblower revealed an internal email showing that the FBI was using counterterrorism tools to monitor parents despite Garland denying before Congress that the FBI was doing so. This summer, whistleblowers revealed that the FBI “pressured and incentivized” agents to classify cases as domestic violent extremism.

CDC Votes to Recommend COVID-19 Shots for Children and Adolescents Annual Immunization Schedule in 15 Unanimous Votes

On Wednesday, The Gateway Pundit reported that the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted to include the COVID-19 vaccine as part of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program.

The Vaccines For Children (VFC) program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of their inability to pay, according to the CDC.

The CDC buys vaccine at a discounted rate for distribution to registered VFC providers. Children who are eligible* for VFC vaccines are entitled to receive those vaccines recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

The advisory committee voted 15-0, without objection.

No one at the CDC has been elected by the citizens of the United States.

INTERPOL launches first global police Metaverse

The virtual world allows INTERPOL to offer immersive training courses to law enforcement across the globe

NEW DELHI, INDIA - The Metaverse isn’t coming soon. It’s already here.

At a surprise session of the 90th INTERPOL General Assembly in New Delhi, the global police organization unveiled the first ever Metaverse specifically designed for law enforcement worldwide.

Fully operational, the INTERPOL Metaverse allows registered users to tour a virtual facsimile of the INTERPOL General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon, France without any geographical or physical boundaries, interact with other officers via their avatars, and even take immersive training courses in forensic investigation and other policing capabilities.

The INTERPOL Metaverse is provided through the INTERPOL Secure Cloud, ensuring its neutrality.

During the interactive session, General Assembly delegates in New Delhi were able to digitally enter the Lyon building through avatars, using virtual reality headsets.

“The Metaverse has the potential to transform every aspect of our daily lives with enormous implications for law enforcement,” said Madan Oberoi, INTERPOL’s Executive Director of Technology and Innovation.

“But in order for police to understand the Metaverse, we need to experience it,” Mr Oberoi added.

In a follow-up panel discussion, INTERPOL also announced the creation of an Expert Group on the Metaverse to represent the concerns of law enforcement on the global stage – ensuring this new virtual world is secure by design.

Not just for gamers

Far from being simply a gadget for gamers, the Metaverse is often discussed as the potential next stage in the development of the Internet. By 2026, one in every four people will spend at least an hour a day in the Metaverse to work, study, shop and socialize, according to technology research firm Gartner.

As the newly released INTERPOL Global Crime Trend report shows, crime has increasingly moved online as the pace of digitalization has increased. If the boundaries of our physical world move ever further into a digital – and seemingly borderless – realm, the panel discussion asked, ‘how can law enforcement continue to protect communities and guarantee the rule of law?’

How can police enhance their awareness of the threats but also harness the opportunities?

Criminals are already starting to exploit the Metaverse. The World Economic Forum, which has partnered with INTERPOL, Meta, Microsoft and others in an initiative to define and govern the Metaverse, has warned that social engineering scams, violent extremism and misinformation could be particular challenges.

As the number of Metaverse users grows and the technology further develops, the list of possible crimes will only expand to potentially include crimes against children, data theft, money laundering, financial fraud, counterfeiting, ransomware, phishing, and sexual assault and harassment.

For law enforcement, some of these threats are likely to present significant challenges, because not all acts that are criminalized in the physical world are considered crimes when committed in the virtual world.

“By identifying these risks from the outset, we can work with stakeholders to shape the necessary governance frameworks and cut off future criminal markets before they are fully formed,” Mr Oberoi said. “Only by having these conversations now can we build an effective response.”

New world, same commitment

The Metaverse holds many benefits for law enforcement, notably in terms of remote work, networking, collecting and preserving evidence from crime scenes, and delivering training.

Capacity building in the Metaverse holds particular promise, offering students more opportunities to collaborate and network, ensuring a greater engagement through immersion and enabling hands-on activities.

In a live demonstration, experts from the INTERPOL Capacity Building and Training Directorate delivered a training course on travel document verification and passenger screening using INTERPOL capabilities in a Metaverse classroom. Students were then teleported to an airport where they were able to apply their newly-acquired skills at a virtual border point.

“For many, the Metaverse seems to herald an abstract future, but the issues it raises are those that have always motivated INTERPOL – supporting our member countries to fight crime and making the world, virtual or not, safer for those who inhabit it,” said INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock.

“We may be entering a new world, but our commitment remains the same.”

How the pro-Ukraine NAFO troll operation crowd-funds war criminals

Celebrated in mainstream US media for its anti-Russian trolling, the Twitter operation known as NAFO was founded by a Polish antisemite to raise money for a militia that has hosted war criminals, white nationalists and wanted murderers.

Whether they know it or not, anyone who has checked Twitter for recent coverage of the Ukraine proxy war has likely encountered at least one of the thousands of trolls that comprise NAFO, or the “North Atlantic Fellas Organization.” Thanks to the efforts of NAFO and its “fellas,” any journalist or prominent figure critical of Ukraine or NATO on Twitter is likely to receive hundreds of replies accusing them of being paid by Russian President Vladimir Putin (or even performing fellatio on him) from accounts with Shiba Inu dog avatars.

Since its inception several months ago, NAFO has earned gushing praise from the Washington Post, which hailed it for “show[ing] that the tables could be turned on Russia, when it came to trolling.” The arms industry-funded, Washington DC-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), meanwhile, hosted an online panel highlighting NAFO as an instrumental weapon in the Russia-Ukraine infowars.

Yet NAFO’s beltway boosters often gloss over its role as a fundraising machine for the Georgian Legion, a US-backed Ukrainian fighting group that stands accused of gruesome battlefield atrocities. Several former members of the Legion have produced first-hand testimony documenting its perpetration of war crimes, including the torture and execution of POWs and civilians.

One NAFO founder explained that he chose the Georgian Legion as a funding recipient precisely because of the unit’s reputation as a band of “mercenaries and criminals” that was willing to carry out barbarous acts which could cause foreign governments to shy away from supporting it. Another NAFO founder has praised the Georgian Legion’s leader for “killing Russians since the ’90s.”

Among the Georgian Legion’s most notorious members are US fugitive and murderer Craig Lang, as well as Paul Gray, an American whose past involvement in several neo-Nazi organizations was never mentioned during the friendly primetime interviews he was granted by Fox News and its local affiliates.

While providing a financial feeding tube to a militia that revels in its own atrocities, NAFO continues to attract effusive support from mainstream US journalists and think tankers who portray the operation as little more than a grassroots expression of online solidarity with Ukraine.

Obsessively online interventionists find meaning and purpose as “fellas”

Employing cartoon memes of the Shiba Inu dog breed, NAFO’s postmodern aesthetic, irreverent style and dedication to viciously trolling any critic of the Ukraine proxy war has garnered the adulation of Western media and interventionist government officials alike.

To outsiders, the lingo that flows through internal NAFO chats might seem unintelligible: “fellas” refers to members; “nafoarticle5” is a call to action that urges “fellas” to dog-pile on a particular social media post; “vatnik” serves as a pejorative for Russians and virtually anyone critical of the US-backed proxy war. Phrases such as “NAFO expansion is non-negotiable” and sarcastic claims that they are funded by the CIA (which they simultaneously claim “doesn’t exist”) are also ubiquitous.

Behind the anonymously named Twitter accounts of NAFO members lies a base of extremely online, mostly male civilians seeking a sense of purpose and community. Some participants have tattooed Shiba Inu avatars onto their bodies while others have published photos of their newborn babies in the arms of an adult sporting a NAFO shirt.

One member of the troll operation tweeted a photo of an elaborate NAFO tattoo emblazoned on his arm, but has since deleted it.

Video: Tulsi Gabbard Defends 2020 Endorsement of Joe Biden, Says She’s ‘Gotten to Know His Family’

"I've known Joe Biden for a long time," Gabbard said in her defense, adding that she's "gotten to know his family…"

Tulsi Gabbard defended her 2020 endorsement of Joe Biden for President when questioned by a conservative, citing her relationship with the Biden family as a reason for her support and pleading ignorance to his radical agenda, which she supported throughout her career. Video footage of the exchange has been exclusively obtained by National File.

The Fall Briefing With Tulsi Gabbard, hosted by the Minnesota-based Center of the American Experiment, a free-market think-tank, took place on October 15th, just days after Gabbard announced her departure from the Democrat Party. When Gabbard was asked by an audience member why she backed Joe Biden in 2020 as opposed to President Trump, she defended her endorsement and pled ignorance of Biden’s far-left agenda.

One of the “reasons that conservatives are still skeptical of you and of this move is because you endorsed Joe Biden in 2020,” a man in the audience said to Gabbard when it was his turn to have to mic.

“What is it that you know about Joe Biden now that you didn’t know then?” he asked, to cheers from his fellow audience members. “Why were you willing to endorse him and not support President Trump?”

“I’ve – I’ve known Joe Biden for a long time,” Gabbard said. “Gotten to know his family.”

“The Joe Biden that I knew is nothing like the Joe Biden we’ve seen in the White House,” Gabbard went on in responding. “I endorsed him in the hopes that he would carry out his promises and that he would listen to his better angels in the face of the permanent Washington establishment,” she said of Biden, who’s been in Washington for 50 years.

“But he’s failed to do that,” Gabbard said. “In every aspect. His promises to unite a divided country turned out to be hollow and empty promises.”

After calling Biden’s recent speech in Philadelphia, where he declared millions of Americans to be military enemies of the state “divisive,” Tulsi Gabbard told the audience that she is “sickened and disheartened” by the administration of the man she endorsed in 2020.

Biden appointee Kilolo Kijakazi announces Social Security agency will allow people to ID as either sex without proof

On October 19, Kilolo Kijakazi, the acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration, announced that the agency will now offer people the choice "to self-select" their sex on their Social Security number record. While those applying to update their sex marker must still provide proof of identity, they don't need to provide any evidence of their purported sex designation.

The SSA was formed in 1935 and tasked with administering "the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance program under title II and the supplemental security income program under title XVI." Notwithstanding its straightforward mandate, the SSA has involved itself in the debate over the immutability of sex.

Kilolo Kijakazi, initially appointed by President Joe Biden to serve as deputy commissioner for retirement and disability policy at the SSA, is now running the agency.

On Wednesday, she stated that the "Social Security Administration's Equity Action Plan includes a commitment to decrease administrative burdens and ensure people who identify as gender diverse or transgender have options in the Social Security Number card application process."

Kijakazi noted that the new policy "allows people to self-select their sex in our records without needing to provide documentation of their sex designation."

If the identity documents provided (e.g., passport or state-issued driver's license) indicate a sex other than the one requested in the update, then the requested marker will still be granted.

The SSA indicated that at present, the SSA's record systems "are unable to include a non-binary or unspecified sex designation. The agency is exploring possible future policy and systems update to support an 'X' sex designation for the SSN card application process."

"X" would account for any one of the many so-called genders that have been manufactured in recent years.

The SSA has previously derived substantial insights into various demographic characteristics particular to the two sexes. Now that men can apply to update their sex marker and state they are women or vice versa, the SSA's gendered analysis will likely be muddled. It is presently unclear how great an impact this new policy will have on the accuracy of the SSA's future studies.
