I think you mean to say "password". The string that looks like this: 4HZTH24BX54TOVSK

The password is the seed for the encryption sequence that generates the 6-digit code.

Actually, to be technically correct, I should say "hashing sequence" and not "encryption sequence".

It's a SHA1 HMAC (hash-based message authentication code).

I'm thinking that clock drift may be the problem.

If you are using the Google stuff, I don't know how clock drift is dealt with there.

The Authentigator has a button (Time Sync) to correct for clock drift.
