SDA’s mission begins and ends with the warfighter. SDA recognizes that good enough capabilities in the hands of the warfighter soon may be better than delivering the perfect solution too late. SDA will deliver capabilities to our joint warfighting forces in two-year tranches.

Our demand signals come from the warfighter and SDA is committed to engaging all the necessary leadership to provide the warfighter is what they need.

 

SDA aims to provide responsive and resilient space capabilities and support of the Joint Force and as part of the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) - increasing warfighters’ lethality, maneuverability, and survivability.

Space Development Agency transfers to USSF

The Space Development Agency (SDA) transferred to the U.S. Space Force (USSF) on October 1, 2022.

 

“As we transfer to the U.S. Space Force, SDA looks forward to continuing our important work on the National Defense Space Architecture, which will deliver critical space-based capabilities to the joint warfighter,” said Dr. Derek Tournear, Director of the Space Development Agency. “Our team is committed to carry on the same dedication to speed, delivery and agility that our agency has demonstrated in the past and we’re grateful for the support of leadership to carry on our mission and maintain our values as part of the U.S. Space Force team.”

 

SDA will bring a unique acquisition strategy to USSF and continue to drive speed into acquisitions in order to deliver new capabilities faster to outpace our adversaries and maintain the technological advantage we get from space and integrate our space architecture with other war fighting domains to give our warfighters a strategic edge.
