It's weird but MJ is an eccentric to say the least, apparently is young at heart, and Chris Tucker was a huge MJ fan. Michael wasn't really a threat to anyone after the allegations, so I'd imagine it would've been an easy legal score for Carter to sue if he wanted to but he didn't.
but in all fairness, Tucker was on the lolita express so who fucking knows. It's so grey.
