qanon.news admin here.

OK anons - I've got good news and I've got bad news in relation to the BIG BREAD SEARCH project.

The bad news is that I had hoped to use elasticsearch for the search but without paying in the $40+ a month to have it hosted that's a nogo. Then I had hoped to use another javascript search tool called Lunr for this (which works great on the Q posts BTW), but have no real way of creating the indexes currently. It's still possibly an option if I can ever get it to work. I tried just a straight text search serverside - but that is agonizingly slow and not really an option.

The good news is that I took a punt on a custom google search. I know - it's the new evil empire and all - but I figured we could use their own tools against them. I was able to get a search working in just a few minutes. I think that Goog may throw in some ads. I'm still looking into that. There appears to be an image search available as well, although I haven't played with it.

It seems to point to breads and not specific posts on searches. Not ideal. I'll jack with it to see if I can make it do what I want.

So what does everybody think? OK to use a tool from Google to get what we need? Should I not?

Try it out and see what you think. It IS pretty fast and the price is right.
