But what you just described is called a Monopoly. That's when someone owns so much of a market that there can't be and isn't any competition.

Unfortunately Gates isn't buying enough land to violate any laws. He's free to own whatever he wants. That's the American Dream. If you're capable of doing it, go do it before he does.
