As a devout muslim it would have been his duty to fight the good fight for islam against the nonbelievers. Participate in Jihad. Muslims traveled from all over the world to participate. The CIA funded it and provided weapons to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. All of it went thru Pakistan. The Afghan Freedom fighters came and went over the border. Bin laden was there doing his thing.
