South Australian magistrate Simon Milazzo removed from office over sexual harassment

A South Australian magistrate has been removed from office over the sexual harassment of four women who worked with him.

A report by a judicial conduct panel tabled in state parliament on Thursday found he engaged in inappropriate conduct with sexual connotations relating to the women over a number of years.

Attorney-General Kyam Maher has told state parliament's upper house that Simon Milazzo was removed from office on Thursday after a number of inquiries.

Mr Milazzo, 68, has been suspended with pay since the allegations came to light last year.

Mr Maher said a panel that included a former judge and prominent doctor found his actions were not consistent with his position and his removal was justified.

He said the women involved were all in a subordinate position to the magistrate at the time.

"From the date the first complaint was made to now was complex and lengthy," Mr Maher said.

"I have no doubt that the process was difficult for the complainants and witnesses.

"Their courage and persistence throughout this process deserves acknowledgement."

Chief Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal said she was "very sorry" that the women "have been harmed by the conduct of a magistrate of this court".

"Whilst I have not yet met with all of the victims, I would like to listen to, and learn from, what they have to say, if they wish to speak with me," she said.

Chief Justice Chris Kourakis said: "Bullying, harassment, discrimination or victimisation of any kind cannot be tolerated."

Complaints detailed in report

The first woman whose complaint is detailed in the report said Mr Milazzo made remarks about her being a lesbian and that she should be with a man.

Another woman said Mr Milazzo approached her from behind and told her to "confess your sins to me".

He also asked whether her partner could "fulfil" her despite her being tall.

A third woman said Mr Milazzo sat on her "knee and thigh and touched her left shoulder and neck as if to massage it".

An IT support officer said Mr Milazzo wanted her to come to his house, while a cleaner said Mr Milazzo "took a shine" to her and would make comments about her breasts.

The panel said the behaviour was "not consistent with the magistrate's obligation to uphold the status and reputation of the judiciary".

"It is precisely the type of conduct that a reasonable, fair-minded member of the public would perceive as likely to diminish public confidence in, and respect for, the judicial office," it said.

It said Mr Milazzo "has not expressed any genuine remorse in respect of the three most serious allegations and has in effect denied outright any improper conduct in the form of sexual harassment in relation to either of those witnesses".

It said his removal was justified.

Mr Milazzo was diagnosed with autism after being suspended but the panel decided it did not mitigate his level of responsibility.

Mining magnate Andrew Forrest is set to invest $750 million (US$550 million) in a fund to help rebuild Ukraine's economy following months of Russia's invasion.

The Australian billionaire announced the news on Thursday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the New Economy Forum in Singapore.

The fund, which is expected to grow to $148 billion (US$100), was made to kick start a US$25 billion Green Growth Initiative which Dr Forrest committed seed funding to via his private equity group Tattarang.

The funding will help rebuild the war-torn country with initial focus on primary infrastructure such as energy and telecommunication networks in Ukraine.

Dr Forrest expressed his commitment to the Green Growth Initiative which he believes will deliver returns to investors.

"Our investment fund will help to step beyond the wire lines of the past and accelerate digital communications development," he said in a statement.

"The Ukraine Green Growth Initiative will be the home of professional and sovereign investment, with the aim of helping rebuild Ukraine in one generation, whilst delivering returns to investors.

Don’t Be Impressed by This: PA AG Josh Shapiro Arrests Democrat Political Consultant For Voter Fraud in City Elections in 2019 – Ignores 2020 and 2022

Pennsylvania Attorney General-turned Governor-elect Josh Shapiro, a far-left Marxist, announced charges against his own campaign consultant Rasheen Crews, for orchestrating the forgery of signatures on election nomination petitions in municipal primary races.

“Defendant is Alleged to Have Conspired to Forge Thousands of Signatures to get Candidates’ Names on the Ballot for the 2019 Democratic Primary Races in Philadelphia” Shapiro’s office announced.

Shapiro is going after a Democrat for handful of signatures in a 2019 primary race while ignoring the widescale voter fraud in 2020 and 2022.

“In advance of the 2023 municipal elections, this arrest is an important reminder that interfering with the integrity of our elections is a serious crime,” said AG Shapiro. “By soliciting and organizing the wide scale forgery of signatures, the defendant undermined the democratic process and Philadelphians’ right to a free and fair election. My office is dedicated to upholding the integrity of the election process across the Commonwealth, to ensure everyone can participate in Pennsylvania’s future.”

This is all theatre to make it look like Shapiro is prosecuting voter fraud in Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile he’s ignoring the widespread voter fraud in the 2020 general election and 2022 midterms.

“An investigation by the Office of Attorney General found that in 2019, multiple candidates hired Crews to help them obtain the requisite amount of signatures needed for their nomination petitions for the Democratic primary races. Crews recruited individuals to help with the petition work, bringing them to a hotel room and asking them to write names, addresses, and forged signatures on multiple petitions. Crews then had these petitions notarized and filed with the Pennsylvania Department of State on behalf of his clients.” Shapiro said.

“Of the petitions that were reviewed, over one thousand signatures were determined to be duplicated. Many names and addresses were found repeated on various petition pages, some pages appeared to be photocopied entirely, and some of the listed individuals claimed to have never signed the petitions in question.”
