Our year is the period of time it takes the earth to complete one revolution around the sun. About 365 1/4 days.
Since the moon orbits the earth, the moon also takes about 365 1/4 days to orbit the sun in tandem with the earth.
I do not see your problem.
The moon does spin as it orbits the earth.
The moon is a sphere. The far side is not concave.
