The club is owned by Matthew Haynes and Nicholas Grzecka, it's the last gay bar in Colorado Springs.

When he was going through some old Out Front magazines, Nic Grzecka, who owns Club Q with his business partner Matthew Haynes, discovered that in the ’70s, people from Denver and Pueblo made the drive to the Springs for gay bars. The city was centrally located and had a denser population than Denver at the time because of the Air Force Academy and other military bases.

Dense population aside, it had Hide and Seek — the largest and longest-standing gay complex in the Western states till its closing in 2005, due to a simple fire code violation. It would be one of the most high-profile queer spaces and organizations to shut down in Colorado Springs, but it wouldn’t be the last.

Matthew Haynes is also a private pilot for Eclipse.

Eclipse Management, which employs six pilots and two jet mechanics, is based in a 3,400-square-foot hangar it owns in the COS Business Air Park on the west side of the Colorado Springs Airport and has plans to expand next year to Oakland, Calif., and Scottsdale, Ariz.

Although other charter services operate out of the Springs, Eclipse Management is the only one locally using jets, Haynes said. One of the company’s jets is approved to operate charters and two others are expected to be approved for charter flights shortly, he said. The jets travel at 425 mph and have a range of nearly 1,300 miles before refueling, or about the same as regional jets used by most major airlines for flights from the Springs.
