What is SB 145?

Senate Bill 145 ends California’s anti-LGTBQ discriminatory treatment of specific sex acts regarding sex offender registry law. Under longstanding California law, if an adult has voluntary penile-vaginal intercourse with a minor aged 14, 15, 16, or 17 and is up to 10 years older than the minor, the offense is not automatically registerable. A judge has discretion whether or not to place the defendant on the sex offender registry. By contrast, if the sexual act is oral sex, anal sex or digital penetration, the court must place the defendant on the sex offender registry regardless of the facts of the crime and even in cases where the prosecutor does not want to place the defendant on the registry. This distinction in the law is irrational and discriminatory towards LGBTQ youth.

Joe Bankman, Father of Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, Was the Legal Mastermind Behind FTX

The financial collapse of multibillion-dollar FTX is sending waves through the cryptocurrency industry. As the list of people responsible grows, one individual on the list should be the former CEO’s father, Joe Bankman.

FTX is now in bankruptcy and its top 50 creditors alone are owed over $3 billion from the entity. We’ve reported on the peculiar circumstances surrounding these creditors and the court’s efforts to date to hide the identities of these creditors.

As the list of creditors increases, there is much blame to throw around. One individual whose name should be on the list is Joe Bankman, the father of the former CEO of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried.

Ukraine accuses executed Russian POWs of ‘perfidy’

Kiev prosecutors insist Russian POWs executed by Ukrainian troops had only imitated a surrender

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General has produced an explanation to the graphic videos that have been circulating on social media since last week and which show the apparent execution of unarmed Russian POWs by Ukrainian servicemen. According to Kiev, Russian soldiers committed "perfidy" and only imitated a surrender, and so their killing was justified.

Ukrainian authorities have launched a probe into the alleged perfidy, which means to be deceitful, the prosecutors stated on Tuesday, blaming the gruesome incident solely on the deceased Russian soldiers.

"According to the results of mass media monitoring, it became known that in the village of Makeevka, Lugansk region, the Russian military, imitating a surrender to the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, opened fire on Ukrainian defenders. Such actions are prohibited by international humanitarian law," the prosecutor’s statement said.

The graphic videos of the POWs' killing surfaced last week, with the Russian Defense Ministry accusing Ukrainian forces of committing a new war crime, claiming also that the killing of unarmed, surrendered soldiers was a "widespread practice" for Kiev’s troops. Moscow has also vowed to do everything to bring the Ukrainian perpetrators behind the massacre to justice.

"Russia will do everything possible under international mechanisms to draw attention to this crime and to hold responsible, under the law, those involved in it," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.

One video of the incident appeared to show unarmed Russian military personnel surrendering to Ukrainian troops and lying in a row on the ground. Another one, captured by a drone, showed the same scene, with troops lying in the same positions, apparently dead from gunshot wounds to their heads.

Another clip of the incident, which did not include audio and was the one that apparently allowed Kiev prosecutors to accuse the massacred POWs of "perfidy," presumably showed a Russian soldier coming out of a building and shooting at the Ukrainians, while the surrendered personnel were already lying on the ground.

Weingarten: Republicans’ Transgender Rhetoric Is ‘Demonic’

American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that Republicans’ transgender rhetoric was both “demonic” and “dangerous.”

In an interview with Semafor, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said “Ihe most dangerous person in the world” was Randi Weingarten.

“It’s not a close call,” he said. “If you ask, ‘Who’s the most likely to take this republic down?’ It would be the teacher’s unions and the filth that they’re teaching our kids.'”

Weingarten said, “It was both ridiculous and dangerous, but more than that, it was pathetic in that he is attacking teachers. The piece I found most dangerous and pathetic was when he called what we do filth. We know what code that’s about.”

She continued, “What’s happening in terms of teachers is that this fear campaign calling us groomers like DeSantis did, give me a break. Then saying we’re so, so important, and yet we’re trying to convince kids to change their sexes? Again, another smear.”

Weingarten added, “The real issue for teachers is that it’s making our jobs harder. It’s making it harder to lift kids up, to create empathy, to create a safe and welcoming environment. It’s scaring the bejesus out of people because, you know, when people go after me, they feel like what’s going to happen to them? And these are the folks who are at the core with parents of helping kids have a future to critically think to get their mojo back. So if I sound really angry, I am.”

She concluded, “They spent $50 million against trans kids in this last election. How dare they? And you wonder what just happened in the club in Colorado? So what’s dangerous is their rhetoric. What is demonic is their rhetoric. The fact they think this is going to get them the Republican nomination, I think Republicans are better than this.”

Judge Rules Jen Psaki Must Be Deposed in Lawsuit Alleging Big Tech Collusion

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki must be deposed in the lawsuit alleging the Biden Administration colluded with Big Tech to stifle free speech, a federal judge ruled on Monday.

“Judge Terry Doughty of the Western District of Louisiana on Monday rejected a motion by attorneys for Psaki to block a court-ordered deposition, and said there is public interest in ‘determining whether First Amendment free speech rights have been suppressed,'” reported Fox News.

Earlier this month, Psaki sought to dodge the subpoena demanding she testify in the lawsuit brought by the Republican attorney generals of Missouri and Louisiana alleging Big Tech collusion. Joe Biden’s Department of Justice backed her claim. Per Reclaim the Net:

Psaki has in the past admitted that the Biden administration was flagging people’s speech to social media platforms.

The DOJ argued that Psaki’s deposition would result in a debate over executive privilege considering she was a top adviser to President Joe Biden.

The DOJ lawyer said: “If permitted to proceed, the deposition of Ms. Psaki would inevitably set the Executive and Judicial Branches ‘on a collision course’ through adjudications of executive privilege, thrusting the court into ‘the awkward position of evaluating the Executive’s claims of confidentiality and autonomy,’ and ‘difficult questions of separation of powers and checks and balances’ would quickly be pushed to the fore.”

As Breitbart News reported, the lawsuit alleges that social media executives regularly met with the Department of Homeland Security to discuss the censorship of Americans during the coronavirus pandemic. Conversations about the origins of the pandemic, the efficacy of vaccines, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and support for Ukraine were among the topics the DHS wanted censored.

In a statement following Judge Doughty’s ruling, John J. Vecchione, senior counsel for the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA), said that the former White House press secretary’s effort “to eliminate or delay her deposition in this action had failed because of the swift action of two judges in widely dispersed courts, one in Virginia and one in Louisiana, and by the implausibility of her reasons for not testifying as to Federal efforts to censure social media that made quick resolution possible.”
