The Bible is a great book to help individuals. Where it falls down is when its applied to groups of people and used as a cudgel for control.
Read the Bible, Understand it. DO NOT use it for anything outside your individual spirit, otherwise, the liars have used you to propagate more lies to more unwitting "believers".
