‘Biden blew it’: Railroad workers unions lash out at president

Rail workers unions blasted President Biden Monday after he pressed Congress to force the organized labor groups to accept a tentative agreement in order to avert a strike.
“Joe Biden blew it,” Railroad Workers United Treasurer Hugh Sawyer said in a press release hours after the president told House and Senate leaders one of his top priorities is to stop the looming labor strike.
“He had the opportunity to prove his labor-friendly pedigree to millions of workers by simply asking Congress for legislation to end the threat of a national strike on terms more favorable to workers. Sadly, he could not bring himself to advocate for a lousy handful of sick days. The Democrats and Republicans are both pawns of big business and the corporations,” Sawyer added.
The White House argues that the impending strike threatens to unleash an economic nightmare on Americans before Christmas. Four out of twelve unions representing rail workers have refused to ratify a tentative agreement negotiated in September with the help of the Biden administration.
The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division, the third-largest rail union in the US, said in a statement Tuesday that it was “deeply disappointed” with Biden’s decision to appeal to Congress to force an agreement.
“The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is deeply disappointed by and disagrees with United States President Joseph R. Biden’s statement, calling upon Congress to pass legislation that would adopt tentative agreements between Railroad Workers and railroads that do not include paid sick days for Railroad Workers,” the group said in a statement.
“It is not enough to ‘share workers’ concerns,’” the union representing about 23,000 railroad maintenance workers continued. “A call to Congress to act immediately to pass legislation that adopts tentative agreements that exclude paid sick leave ignores the railroad workers’ concerns.”

A Florida business owner has been busted after his girlfriend accused him of drunkenly battering her with her sex toy.
Christopher Pacitto, the 45-year-old CEO and owner of Velocity Engineering Services, was arrested after a 4:30 a.m. bust-up with his girlfriend at a St. Petersburg motel on Thanksgiving Day, an arrest affidavit shows.
During an argument, the 6-foot-2, 300-pound business owner started packing his bags — then throwing all of his girlfriend’s items out onto the floor, the complaint says.
“During that process” he “hit her with a sex toy on her torso, leaving her with a bruise,” the affidavit says.
Police did not detail what sex toy was used. But it left a “bruise on [the] torso” of the CEO’s girlfriend of seven months, the report says.
Pacitto later “admitted to throwing items but does not recall exactly what items,” according to the report, which listed an “aggravating” factor as the accused sex-toy thrower being “under the influence” of alcohol.
Pacitto, from Fort Myers — about 110 miles from the alleged attack at the Blind Pass Resort Motel— was charged with first-degree misdemeanor domestic battery.
He was released Friday on $1,000 cash bond and ordered to keep away from his girlfriend, who was not identified. A lawyer entered a written not-guilty plea on his behalf, court records show.

A New York City mother-of-three who plowed her BMW into a group of BLM protesters in 2020 has yet again refused a plea deal in favor of a jury trial.
Kathleen Casillo, 54, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday nearly two years after she was accused of driving into pedestrians during the protest at the Manhattan intersection of 39th Street and Third Avenue on December 11, 2020.
Casillo could face seven years in prison after turning down the deal which involved six hours of community service and a one-year license suspension.
Casillo and her attorney told the court that they did not have an interest in the plea deal and would opt for a jury trial. They turned down the same plea deal a year ago.
The Howard Beach, Queens, mom has previously claimed the demonstrators had come up to her car and called her 'a white privilege b**ch' before banging on the vehicle.
She said she then panicked and hit the gas when they tried to open the doors of her vehicle, which led to nine activists being injured.

I fear America is on a path to disintegration due to persistent failures in our education system. American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten and her fellow travelers have crippled our nation’s schools. The danger she presents to our nation is clear and real and exceeds that of all the bad guys I battled abroad for four years as secretary of state and CIA director. I said she’s the most dangerous person in America because it is true. Her power, her ideas and her anti-student policies must be confronted.
Weingarten has called this claim “pathetic” and insinuated that I, having made it, am “extreme,” “anti-LGBTQ” and “anti-Semitic.” She suggested my work as America’s most senior diplomat was a failure when in fact we made America far safer and more prosperous than President Biden has been able to do.
Her personal venom evidences an unwillingness to defend what she has wrought on our children and our nation. I am prepared to debate her and to present to the American people my case for the risks she presents to our republic and our nation’s future.
