Ok now this is getting weird. It's my favorite book. Like ever. My favorite book ever. And I feel like we're living it. Dantes could've just crushed his enemies and been done with it once he got the treasure. But he wanted the ultimate vengeance. He let them twist for so long. Absolutely ruined them, public humiliation, financial humiliation, to the point of his enemies offing themselves from the torture.

I see the same parallels you do and I've thought about them many times during this journey. Hopefully we're seeing a modern version. The ultimate sting.
