Anyone still wearing a face mask to protect himself from Covid probably has no intention of ever shedding it now. Residents may no longer even have a choice in Los Angeles, where local health officials pledge to reinstate mandates as soon as next week. On Thursday, Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer threatened the return of an indoor mask mandate if rates of hospitalization attributed to Covid continue to climb. “If both hospitalization indicators, new COVID-19 admissions and the proportion of staffed in-patient beds occupied by COVID patients, surpass the threshold for high, LA County will return to universal indoor masking,” Ferrer said.

None of the three broadcast networks covered the Friday revelations of how Twitter censored the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story on their Saturday morning shows. However, NBC’s Today did manage to blame Elon Musk for a raise in hate speech on the platform. Correspondent Steve Patterson set the dramatic tone for the segment, “While the focus has been on [Kanye] West’s suspension, researchers are warning that hate speech and harassment has increased dramatically since Elon Musk took over the platform and that they worry that while one man is being pushed out, a wave pushed a wave far worse is being ushered in.”

Republicans got some more good news out of California. Republican John Duarte just flipped a House seat. Duarte narrowly beat Adam Gray 50.2% to $49.8% – Adam Gray has conceded. The district has not elected a Republican since 1974 – Democrats outnumber Republicans 42% to 24% in the district.The Epoch Times reported: Republicans have flipped a U.S. House of Representatives seat representing a central California district, expanding their majority in the next Congress.

Abstract
This article argues senior officers may fail in character because their rate of character development throughout their careers typically decreases as environmental stressors rise. It conceptualizes character as an open system with both gains and leaks over time and integrates existing scholarship on personality and ethical development to create the Leaky Character Reservoir framework, which it then applies to Army officers’ careers. Military leaders will gain a new understanding of character and find specific actions officers, units, and the US Army can undertake to strengthen the character of its senior officers.
