Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel said on a podcast he thinks he lost half his fan base for making jokes about former President Donald Trump
He also said that when producers asked him to tone down the anti-Trump jokes, he threatened to walk away from the show
Kimmel appeared on the Naked Lunch podcast with Phil Rosenthal and David Wild, and said 10 years ago he was the most popular host among Republicans
He also said he has seen a significant drop in ratings in the last few years, part of a trend that has sent late-night shows scrambling
Despite this, Kimmel seems in good spirits after signing a three-year contract extension
