Satanic Temple Installs ‘Serpent of Genesis’ Statue Inside the Illinois State Capitol

The Satanic Temple has installed a “Serpent of Genesis” statue inside the Illinois State Capitol.

Last year, the Satanic Temple installed a “Baby Baphomet” statue in the annual Illinois Capitol Rotunda holiday display.

Satanic “Minister Adam” claimed that this year’s display, the third year the Temple has placed one, is meant to focus on banned books.

“So we selected a banned book, Copernicus’ ‘Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres,’ published in 1543 and banned by the Catholic church for over 200 years,” Adam said while speaking in the Capitol, according to a report from Advantage News. “This sits on a plinth with a basket of handknit apples as well as a 12-foot crocheted snake.”

The satanist said that it is “ok” with him if people are offended by the display.

“Being offended is something that is more than welcomed for them to be able to do, that is their right, but we have every right to be here and we’re not going to sanitize that message because someone else is offended by that,” Adam said.

The Capitol also has a Christmas tree donated by the Secretary of State’s office, a menorah, and a nativity scene.

According to the report, during the nativity scene’s dedication by a Christian group last week, a speaker named Beth Rogers said it’s her belief Jesus comes out on top.

“And I’m going to say, that little baby in the manger later crushed Satan the serpent’s head and the gates of hell will not prevail,” she said.

The Satanic Temple does not celebrate Christmas but rather Sol Invictus, which falls on the same day.

According to their website, the day is a “celebration of being unconquered by superstition and consistent in the pursuit and sharing of knowledge.”

The Satanic Temple made headlines last year for seeking a court declaration to allow abortions for their Texas members, claiming that the laws violate their “religious freedom” to perform “abortion rituals.”

FTX’s Sam Bankman-Fried Reveals He Can’t Account for Billions Sent to Alameda Research

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried revealed Thursday that he doesn’t know what happened to billions of dollars that customers of his cryptocurrency exchange sent to accounts of his trading company Alameda Research.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal Thursday, Bankman-Fried said that the funds “were wired to Alameda, and … I can only speculate about what happened after that.” FTX customers, he said, deposited more than $5 billion in those Alameda accounts and added that the funds are now gone.

“Dollars are fungible with each other. And so it’s not like there’s this $1 bill over here that you can trace through from start to finish,” he said. “What you get is more just omnibus, you know, pots of assets of various forms.”

Later in the interview, the former FTX chief said that he could not rule out whether any of the company’s terms of use were violated.

“I don’t know of a violation of the terms of use,” Bankman-Fried conceded. “I don’t know every line of the terms of use. I can’t confidently say there wasn’t, but I don’t know of one.”

Regulators around the world, including in the United States, are investigating the role of FTX’s top executives such as Bankman-Fried after FTX collapsed in early November. The crypto exchange filed for bankruptcy last month after a liquidity crisis that saw at least $1 billion of customer funds vanish and after traders pulled $6 billion from the platform in three days and rival exchange Binance abandoned a rescue deal.

Investigations

Prosecutors have not charged Bankman-Fried with any crime. However, he’s faced numerous lawsuits, including one from crypto lender BlockFi, after the company’s stunning collapse.

Federal prosecutors in New York are asking for details on any communications such firms have had with the crypto firm and its executives, including Bankman-Fried, according to Reuters. Other U.S. authorities have sought information from investors and potential investors in FTX.

Meanwhile, the top Democrat and Republican lawmakers on the Senate Banking Committee warned they would issue a subpoena to Bankman-Fried if he won’t testify on the FTX collapse.

“FTX’s collapse has caused real financial harm to consumers, and effects have spilled over into other parts of the crypto industry. The American people need answers about Sam Bankman-Fried’s misconduct at FTX,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and outgoing Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), the panel’s ranking Republican, in a statement Thursday.

EU Central Banker Pushes Bitcoin Ban Under Guise of Climate Change

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum should be banned due to their “excessive ecological footprint”, a top European Central banker said this week.

Fabio Panetta, who serves on the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB), called for the European Union to ban cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, that use proof-of-work validation for transactions, an energy-intensive but decentralised process that involves computers solving complex equations to compete for the ability to complete the transaction.

The Italian economist said that due to the European Union’s commitment to combatting climate change, those “crypto-assets deemed to have an excessive ecological footprint should be banned.”

However, the environmental excuse appears to be a smokescreen for the real desired outcome by the ECB, namely the formation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and the elimination of non-government-controlled alternatives such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

“Only central bank money can provide an anchor of stability. The solution is to extend today’s two-tier monetary system into the digital age. This system is built on the complementary roles of central bank money and commercial bank money,” Panetta said.

“Central bank money is currently available for retail use in only physical form – cash. But the digitalisation of payments is eroding the role of cash and its ability to provide an effective monetary anchor.

“Central bank digital currencies would instead preserve the use of public money for digital retail payments. By offering a digital, risk-free common denominator, a central bank digital currency would facilitate convertibility among different forms of private digital money. It would thus preserve the singleness of money and protect monetary sovereignty. The ECB is working on a digital euro precisely for these reasons.”

TSA Plans Nationwide Rollout Of Biometric Machines For Airport Travelers

Traversing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lines is already stressful enough at airports. All travelers are screened during the security process by technology or an invasive pat-down. One such machine currently being tested in more than a dozen airports with a possible nationwide rollout next year is one where travelers look straight into a camera, according to The Washington Post.

The TSA is quietly testing a biometric machine called the next generation of Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) to verify the identity of travelers via their face. CAT scans the traveler's photo ID and then compares that with the Secure Flight database.

Ukraine’s security service opens high treason case against Orthodox priests

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched another criminal case on charges of high treason after its raid on churches and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, SBU said on its official Telegram channel on Thursday.

"The security service has completed its counter-intelligence measures at facilities belonging to the UOC-MP [the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Moscow Patriarchate] in the regions of Kherson [joined Russia after a referendum], Cherkassy, Zhitomir and Volyn," the statement says.

The service claimed that a search in one of UOC-MP cathedrals revealed that some of its priests had Russian passports, issued earlier this year.

"Criminal proceedings have been launched in accordance with Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine [state treason, committed during the period of martial law]," SBU said.

The security service also claimed that one monastery had "a library with propagandist books of Russian authors," while another stored Russian schoolbooks and texts of prayers for Russia.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky issued a decree on December 1 to enact a resolution of the National Security and Defense Council on Certain Aspects of the Activities of Religious Organizations in Ukraine and the Application of Personal Special Economic and Other Restrictive Measures (Sanctions), essentially aimed at banning the UOC. More specifically, he issued orders to submit a bill to parliament on banning "religious organizations affiliated with centers of influence in the Russian Federation," stepping up "measures to identify and counter subversive activities by Russian special services in Ukraine’s religious sphere," and scrutinizing the Charter governing the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for signs of ecclesiastical and canonic links with the Moscow Patriarchate.

Recently, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies conducted a series of raids against UOC churches, including at the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) claims that "pro-Russian literature and millions in cash," as well as materials denying the existence of Ukraine" were found.

At least five Jews arrested by Iran during protests against Islamic Republic

"The Jewish community in Iran is under pressure," an Iranian dissident said. "Like other Iranians, also Jewish Iranians, are oppressed."

At least five Iranian Jews were arrested by Iranian security forces over the last few weeks during nationwide protests engulfing the theocratic Islamic state, The Jerusalem Post can reveal.

Karmel Melamed, an Iranian-American journalist who has deep sourcing within the Persian Jewish community in Iran and in the Iranian diaspora, told the Post that "my contact source who is in contact with the Jewish leadership in Iran has confirmed that indeed five Jews have been arrested in Iran recently, but one was released after a one-week detention.”

He added that "the four remaining Jews are still in jail, awaiting adjudication of their cases by the Iranian authorities along with many other young people who have been arrested for their involvement in the protests. Of the four Jews are in custody and two of them are university students from Tehran who were rounded up with the scores of other student protestors.”

Melamed, who has written extensively about Iranian Jews, said “one of the Jews in custody is a Jewish student from Shiraz who was arrested for flying a small drone in his city. The flying of any drones by civilians is strictly prohibited by the Iranian regime in Iran.”

According to Melamed, “right now the Jewish leadership in Tehran is working closely with the regime's authorities to help secure their release.”

The 20-year-old Armita Abbasi, who sports a Star of David necklace in photographs of herself, was arrested and raped by the Islamic Republic’s security forces in October. CNN reported that, in contrast to most Iranian dissidents within Iran, she “did not anonymize her anti-regime posts” on social media.

CNN, which did not note that Abbasi wore a Star of David, reported that leaked accounts “suggested that Iranian security forces tortured and sexually assaulted Abbasi.”

Abbasi is not Jewish.

Sheina Vojoudi, a spokesperson for the Senate of the National Iranian Congress, told the Post: “Ask the Islamic Republic where Armita Abbasi, the girl with Magen David is? She was arrested, raped and tortured. Where is she now?"

Lebanon Arrested 185 Suspected Of Spying For Israel After Economic Crisis – Report

Lebanese security forces have arrested 185 people suspected of spying for Israel since the start of the country’s economic crisis three years ago, the AFP reported on December 7, citing two security officials.

One of the unnamed officials told the news agency that the number is up from a previous average of four or five arrests per year. Between April 2009 and 2014, around 100 people were arrested on charges of spying for Israel. At the time, most of the suspects were either military personnel or employees of the telecommunications sector.

Lebanon economic crisis started in 2019. Since then, the national currency has plummeted in value, banks have frozen accounts and most people have struggled to make ends meet amid never-ending shortages.

“This is the first time that so many people have been arrested on charges of collaborating with Israel, and it’s because of the crisis,” said one of the officials.

According to AFP, only three of those detained since 2019 were allegedly working with Israel before the crisis. So far, 165 of the 185 have been prosecuted, with 25 convicted and sentenced.

The officials said that the Israeli intelligence is targeting Lebanese people on social media with job advertisements for phony companies. The applicants would then be contacted by a recruiter. Some of them had no idea an Israeli intelligence organization had contacted them.

At least two suspects had contacted Israel’s national intelligence agency, the Mossad, directly through its website in search of work.

One of the officials claimed that some suspected who believed Israeli intelligence had contacted them “went on nevertheless since they did not have a problem with Israel and detested Hezbollah.”

In January, a prominent Lebanese judicial official revealed that 21 people had been arrested as part of a security operation to dismantle 17 spy networks which were working for the Israeli intelligence.

The recent arrests in Lebanon were without a doubt a blow to the Israeli intelligence, who maintain a complex network of cells in the country to collect intelligence, mainly on Hezbollah, as well as to carry out sabotage.

FBI Reportedly Investigating at Least Five Electricity Substation Attacks in Washington and Oregon Similar in North Carolina

In light of recent assaults on power substations in the South and on the West Coast, authorities are looking into an increasing number of reported threats to power infrastructure.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that a massive power outage in North Carolina was caused by two substations being damaged by gunfire last week, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Over 40,000 people were left without power because of the criminal actions.

Mike Cameron of the Southern Pines Fire and Rescue Department told CNN that a gate at one of the locations was taken off the hinges.

Duke Energy spokesman Jeff Brooks told WRAL that crews are experiencing “multiple equipment failures” at substations in Moore County.

“We are actively investigating signs of potential vandalism related to the outages,” Brooks said.

According to recent reports, the FBI is investigating similar attacks in Washington and Oregon in November.

The Seattle Times reported that Puget Sound Energy, the Cowlitz County Public Utility District, and Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) have all said they are cooperating with a federal investigation into the attacks. However, the FBI has declined to confirm that it is conducting such an investigation.

An internal federal law enforcement memo warning of the recent attacks has been obtained exclusively by NewsNation.

“Power companies in Oregon and Washington have reported physical attacks on substations using hand tools, arson, firearms and metal chains possibly in response to an online call for attacks on critical infrastructure… In recent attacks, criminal actors bypassed security by cutting the fence links, lighting nearby fires, shooting equipment from a distance or throwing objects over the fence and onto equipment,” according to the memo.

• In Oregon, a substation in Clackamas was damaged in a “deliberate physical attack” over the Thanksgiving holiday, a Bonneville Power Administration spokesperson told CNN. “BPA operators discovered a cut perimeter fence and damaged equipment inside,” the spokesperson said, adding the company is working with the FBI on the incident.

• In Washington state, “two incidents occur(ed) in late November at two different substations,” Puget Sound Energy spokesperson told CNN. “Both incidents are currently under investigation by the FBI,” it said, adding, “We are aware of recent threats on power systems across the country and take these very seriously.”

And two Cowlitz County Public Utility District substations were vandalized in mid-November in the Woodland area, agency spokesperson Alice Dietz told The Seattle Times. “At this time, we do not have any further comment … Our facilities have since been repaired,” Dietz told the Times. A school district that gave preschoolers a book on cross-dressing has changed its procedures for giving out books after news of the incident surfaced last week.

As first reported exclusively by The Lion and The Heartlander news sites, a 4-year-old preschooler in the Turner School District in Kansas City, Kansas, took home the book Jacob’s New Dress. It’s a picture book in which a little boy wears girls’ clothes and even competes with his friend Emily to be a princess.

“I don’t think this should be, obviously, any kind of a subject for a school to be speaking about,” Jim Clay, the 4-year-old’s grandfather, told The Lion. “The sexualization of our children in society today is just disgusting. The grooming that’s taking place is disgusting.”

At the end of the week, Clay reported the Turner district had explained what happened and what changes will be made to prevent such a sexually provocative book being tendered to young children there again.

The district’s statement to Clay, and apparently others, says its early-childhood program began accepting once-weekly donated books last year from local nonprofit LiteracyKC. Such partnerships, the district said, help it expand resources and community outreach.

“Please be assured that these books were not a part of district curriculum, were not required reading, and were sent home to be read at the discretion of parents,” the district wrote without naming the book in question or explaining how it escaped the district’s notice.

“Moving forward, our district staff will be pre-approving all books and activities provided by Literacy KC to ensure they are age-appropriate and align with our district curriculum and educational mission,” the statement concluded – notably, without apology to offended parents and guardians.

Case closed? Maybe, maybe not.

“This past spring we learned State Farm was distributing transgender books in Florida,” says Mary Miller, an Oregon-based parents’ rights advocate who spoke about the cultural divide between parents and schools in Kansas City at a community forum in June.

“Now Literacy KC is doing the same thing in Kansas City preschool classrooms, after having received a multimillion-dollar grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. There is a coordinated effort by trans rights activist groups such as GLSEN (formerly the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) and the Human Rights Campaign to push transgender ideology on schoolchildren nationwide.

“Literacy KC will need to clean up its act to regain the trust of parents and grandparents in the Kansas City community.”

Moreover, as Turner has just done, other school districts may need to reconsider the wisdom of outsourcing the approval of classroom materials to even well-intentioned outside organizations.

The incident also raises questions about Literacy KC’s vetting process, and how many other school districts in the Kansas City region have handed out books such as Jacob’s New Dress to the youngest of students – and whether parents have been made aware of it.

The Lion on Monday sent questions to both the Turner district and Literacy KC. Among other things, we asked Literacy KC if this book is being given out to other districts in the area, and if so, which ones; if Literacy KC continues to consider a cross-dressing book to be appropriate for such young children – or, if not, whether it will suspend the book’s distribution; and whether it is fair for such sexually and gender-identity suggestive books to be given to such young children without pre-approval by parents?

The Lion also has requested copies of any correspondence between the Turner district and Literacy KC about the incident.
