Symbols are defined by those who create or usurp them. You need more infomation. If every swirl is pedo are you going to go on a stomping rampage crushing every snail you see?

I focus more on how they think. What I mean is: They will dispose of an exposed symbol and pick another symbol to communicate the same thing. So if swirls is now being scrutenized I expect that they will abandon using swirls and start using something else for example sinks or taps… Symbolic coms are no different than common language coms the letter A is a symbol yet many languages have different meanings for it. One really needs to be on the inside track to know what is really being said, all I can do is look at the overall picture and gather bits and pieces and the most I can get from that is a tone.
